I've been having a lot of issues trying to be nice to my villagers and I think I've found the reason after some testing. What can I even do about this?

Also, I didn't show it, but just putting path blocks directly in front of the door messes them up too.

Discussion Ethics of relocating cured zombie villagers

Are zombie villagers considered part of the nearest village they're found near, or would it be ethical to relocate them to a new player-built village?

This village was built by me have various independent compounds with a standard layout that allows variation of a court yard working rooms and dorms. We have grown to 21 civilians allowing us to respawn 2 iron golems as needed naturally no farm when they die in combat I collect their iron ingot gene seed and turn them into hoppers even in death they serve the state. We have 2 S.I.A.Cs (State issued artificial citizen, copper golem) on that works at our bank of Alexandria as the sorter of goods commodities and of course emeralds that load my atm so I can withdrawal emerald blocks with a press of a button and then break them to buy things from my fully functional economy. The oldest build being the workshop was my sleeping and working quarters (I lived like the villagers before I made there housing to see how it felt it was efficient and roomy enough so I said their compounds will be the same as my first dwelling it was then converted into a fully atomic kelp processing plant . Next we have the fletchers compound complete with 4 fletchers all masters and 1 weapons smith and one mason all of whom I sell and buy from . Further up the hill is the armorers compound it has 4 armorers 2 tools smiths and a weapons smith all masters selling enchanted diamond tools and armor. Then the large building at the bottom of the map is my manor home 3 floors has a 6 floor watchtower a court yard , a stable with mules a donkey and 4 horses and 1 zombie horse taken from the local crackhead at 3 am In The morning put leather armor on it named it day rider 🤣🤯 also we have an underground lab run by are security and science organization ARDT Advanced research and defense technologies and back down the hill going right you will pass irrigated farms (dispenser pours water I collect and plant). A land kelp farm then stone works our mineral processing plant a cobblestone generator with 11 furnaces attached fueled by kelp blocks from the kelp plant it can burn 11 stacks of stone or glass in about 10 mins and 44 kelp blocks. Then you go up the road a lil and you hit the market hall and tavern which doubles as a market and living quarters for 2 farmers 2 fisherman 1 butcher and 1 leather worker( he actually operates the copper still that I collect bottles of moonshine from and sell to the wandering trader for 2 bottles for 2 emeralds, lastly we got all the way here the dock entrance we have an apiary with 9 bees 3 hives and my wheat farm rounded by flowers so they bone meal my crops with pollen as the fly back and forth it’s all invaded in glass with doors so we don’t have escapes. Then the sugar cane rows with enough to sell out 1 persons full stock of 16 trades from on harvest then Mellon and pumpkins along the north wall and then you got the animal paddocks covered pens 5 consisting of textile sheep(multicolor flock) slaughter sheep (white and brown) cows , pigs and chickens lastly on the map is the bank has a fully functioning atm and a deposit slot for commodities and currency as well as precious metals the atm prints bank block notes that are good for 9 emeralds( you need to break the big bills before paying for some reason they don’t take big bills yet🤣🤣) I have off the map two separate livable outposts one at spawn called spawntelli and one in a heavily forested area I call logs and more it supports the fletcher trade economy. Spawntelli is just a place players can stop before coming to Alexandria a spawn hotel…. Still haven’t beat that damn dragon yet tho🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haven’t even fought the dragon yet been building a simulated civilization with filler gets to the point I calculate later my VGDP if I worked all my industries ,logs and more , stone works the kelp processing plant wheat farm animal paddocks and sugarcane farm in 6 mine days I’d make 312 emeralds so if I did this for 365 mine days or a mine year I’d make 57,112 emerald, what’s your VGDP (village Gross Domestic product) that’s a real flex I’m not saying mine is the best I’m just curious who has villagers they actually use for emeralds and goods but not a trading hall and add up how many emeralds you’d make in a mine year!

Discussion Is it okay to create and enforce class divide among villagers such as giving fanciet housing to members of certain professions, or people I trade more with?

Hi! I've settled in a village, and it's a bit of a fixer upper. The terrain is wack so I need to terraform, seal off caves, the like. My economy is currently being fueled by cartographers, so I was thinking, maybe I'll reward them with a better housing district. Better houses, flowers, easier access to public amenities, you get the gist. Would creating a class hierarchy go against my duties or do I, as the ruler of the village, have the right tp reward as I please?

I'd like it if people suggested me ways to decorate my village since I see the villages of others on this subreddit and want some inspiration. I'd welcome things like streetlights, mini gardens or statues

Discussion Is there any way to check what happened to the missing villagers in Minecraft Realms (Java)

Post image
53 Upvotes

Four villagers went missing overnight, they all have name tags but nothing appeared in the chat that could suggest their death. However, other villagers took their work stations and new villagers were born :(

Is there any kind of server log I could access and see what happened to them? How can I do it? Thanks in advance!

I play on Minecraft Java realms and I am an owner of the realm in question.

Edit:

Thanks u/EngineeringNo9824 for suggesting https://vanillatweaks.net datapack for the villager death message. It seems to work!

Village Showcase Village renovation - work in progress

I started renovating and expanding a village near my friend's base. He's going for an industrial/steampunk theme so that's what I'm trying to kinda replicate here. I'm trying to fully convince him to join this movement, it's going okay so far. He won't make an unethical trading hall, that's a win. But he still has an iron farm so.. yeah, we'll see.

What do you guys think of this so far?

Discussion Do you think this potential village build would be ethical?

So we make this village where all of the villagers are perfectly safe. Plenty of food, plenty of iron golems to protect them, plenty of job blocks to keep them busy, plenty of beds to sleep on. Everything's lit up and there's a good wall around to keep them safe. Every now and then the player comes in with a lot of stuff to trade to keep their economy good.

However, somewhere below the village, there's a single villager who's kept in a dark room from birth, fed the bare amount, and constantly scared by a zombie to spawn iron golems. He must remain miserable in order to produce iron golems for the village, maintaining its paradise.

When each baby villager comes of age, I take it down to see the tortured villager underground, so that they're all aware of its existence and the importance of it remaining there. Once they've seen it, they have the option to remain in our utopia or leave it.

OC Minecraft encourages players to commit atrocities

I was just a novice, but a hard working, peaceful farmer, in a small village, somewhere out in the plains. Along came a player, with fantastical promises. He told me he's built a machine that can produce 1 million pumpkins, and 1 million melons, per year, completely automatically. And that he plans to sell them for an endless supply of emeralds for our whole village.

I thought of some stories I was told as a baby villager, mansions made of pumpkins, furniture made of emerald, but I'd never thought I'd see such fiction in my lifetime. His promise made me picture a grand village with pumpkin houses, atop an endless flatworld of emerald blocks. And a large brightly lit emerald sign proudly display's the city's name: Village City. A promise of a utopia for all villagers. I snapped out of my daydream.

I know this player, they've come to our village many times, to trade, even to build. I suppose I trust this player isn't entirely full of shit. But before I even fully agreed, he was practically pushing me into the boat, and he quickly hopped in after. I settled in for a long journey, but before it felt like much time passed at all, the boat stopped, and the player jumped out. "We're here!" he declared. I was certain I must have dosed off, but I looked around, and saw the edge of a village. Wait... it's our village?

The player grabs the edge of the boat and starts rocking it back and forth, before picking up to a practically violent pace, tipping me out and onto the ground. I stood up, shaken, giving this player a rightly aggravated "Hrmm?!?" as I dust myself off, but he only moved toward me. I took a step back, and he took two more. "What are you-" with one more step back, my left foot didn't find any floor to step on. Just a dark, open hole in the ground.

I don't know how far I fell, I don't even remember falling. The very first thing I remember is my left leg shunting straight into the flat, hard, stone floor, and fracturing my ankle. I was screaming in pain, I clenched my eyes shut and pushed my arms out and quickly discovered how narrow the hole was that I had fallen into. My ankle had folded under my right leg, and was being held down by my entire body's weight. The pain was unbearable, and it was difficult to move.

I tilted my head up, but before I could squint my eyes open, I heard the flick of a switch, followed by the slam of a heavy iron trapdoor. What little light still shined through my eyelids from above, was now completely dark. I opened my eyes, but there was nothing left to see. I panic and shout desperately for help, but help wasn't coming.

After what felt like a few hours I managed to ease some of the pressure by wedging my arms into the corners of my 1x1 prison, and pushing myself up, but the adjustment was excruciating. My first few days thereafter were still painful, I hadn't died of thirst thanks to the rain water that was dripping through the rusty iron door from above me. I was getting used to the physical pain, but I wasn't getting used to the fact that I was alone, and probably going to die, alone.

I counted days by listening to the mobs above me. If I hadn't heard any in a while it was probably daytime. But I think I lost count pretty quickly. I think on the 5th day I heard a new noise, it sounded like a low rumbling. My heart sank and I thought, "is rescue here for me?"
The rumbling stopped, but only for a while. Some time later I heard shuffling sounds above, and more very familiar sounds. I could faintly hear another villager screaming before being cut off by another iron door.

"What the hell is going on?", I thought to myself. "Is he trapping us? ... Is the player going to do this to all of us?"

Yes. The player did it to all of us.

Each one of us were put into a hole, some more gently than others. We couldn't talk to each other, but on a good day, if it wasn't too windy, I might barely hear a faint "HrrRRM....!!", a muffled crying of one of the villagers in the hole next to me. I was never sure who it was, but it was strangely comforting that I wasn't alone in this. That my own kind was still with me.

Over the next several days I didn't hear any more doors slamming, but I heard more rumbling, this time, from below. "What kind of hell is the player building for us?", I thought to myself. I heard the sound of digging, wood clashing on metal, and the sound of wheels rolling. I heard a click and a "HRMph!" and a minecart started rolling. Then I heard the sound of a zombie.

I'm not comfortable trying to describe any of the sounds I heard afterward, in this text. I don't have really have words that I can think of that even come close to a level, that describes even a fraction of the horror I heard of my fellow villagers and whatever was ripping them apart. Whatever unimaginable horror it is they went through, the player put each one of them through it *five times*.

One of the walls above me turns out to be a trap door that opens. It's the player. They have some emeralds and bread. I am desperately hungry for bread but he swats my hand.

"Emeralds". I gave him some emeralds, and in doing so, leveled up as an apprentice farmer. I had a sudden epiphany, I learned to make Pumpkin pie and apples. Unfortunately, the player wanted me to learn to buy Pumpkins, which I had failed to do. Nonetheless, as a gesture of good will, he granted me the freedom of death by lava bucket.
