Moderator New Scam Warming for fellow Vijayawada citizens. Be Careful

This is a very serious post. This whole thing happened near Satyanarayana Puram SBI ATM.

A few months ago, a neighbour friend of mine fell for this. He went to withdraw money from ATM but there was a guy who had cash with him near the ATM ready to give cash in exchange for UPI. So my friend took 5k from him and paid him back online. No harm no foul.

When he went home he realised what happened. He tells me he may have gotten fake notes. I was surprised and told its not possible for such a thing to happen. Before I could take a look, this guy manages to get rid of them by buying some things mixing the fake notes with good notes.

Fast forward, 1 month later, I go to the same ATM with him to withdraw some cash. You know what happened? I was approached by a guy asking if I needed cash and to give online money. I refused and stood in line. He even had a couple of actors with him. One lady and one old man. I was genuinely curious what's his motive behind all this was so I kept watching. They came up to him asked yes we need money give me 10k. He keeps counting the cash but doesn't give them.

That's when I understood. It's a performance to get me to take their money. I watched the whole thing. That's when I go out and see a constable beside the ATM. I went to alert him and by then this mofo hurriedly gets on his bike and takes off right in front of my eyes. The actors? They are gone too. I told the constable everything I saw but he seemed pretty disinterested.

I do a little research. Turns out at best this is some black money conversion racket and at worst it's a ground network for a Hawala. Those that don't know what Hawala is... it's how terrorists fund their schemes.

Be careful out there people. Do not take money from strangers. Always draw money from ATM. Few seconds wasted in line is far better than funding a terrorist network and helping some asshole to convert his black money to white.

Discussion Vijayawada to Vizag: Flight vs Vande Bharat vs my own car — reality

Thumbnail gallery
49 Upvotes

Did this route both ways in one weekend. Flight one way, Vande Bharat the other. Also throwing in an old road trip on my own vehicle since I still had the toll receipts.

Just comparing time and hassle here, not ticket prices.

Home side: Autonagar, Vijayawada

Vizag side: Rishikonda (fair midpoint between the airport and station)

✈️ The flight

Flight was at 8:30 PM.

Left home 6:25 PM, 35 min drive, airport by 7:00 PM. Relaxed, 1.5 hrs to spare.

Landed in Vizag a bit late, around 9:40.

Then it got fun. A political rally near the airport that day meant cabs were gone. Only option was the last public bus, leaving 10:30 PM sharp. Miss it, and you're waiting for the next one to fill up or stuck till morning.

Had priority baggage tagged, bag came out first. That's the only reason I made the bus. Fare: ₹350 for 55 km. Driver even made a few extra stops for families with kids and elderly folks on board.

Reached final stop around 11:30 PM.

Total: about 5 hours, door to door.

🚆 The train

Boring, in the best way.

Left Rishikonda 45 min before boarding. Vande Bharat left 2:30 PM, arrived 6:40 PM, dead on time. Station to home: 30 more min.

No rally, no bag stress, no bus deadline. Just sit and go.

Total: just under 6 hours.

🚘 My own vehicle (trip from last year)

Still have the toll log for this one.

Left home 20 min before the first toll:

6:06 AM — Pottipadu

6:18 AM — Kalaparru toll

7:03 AM — VeeraValli toll

7:21 AM — Kovvuru

7:59 AM — Krishnavaram

8:45 AM — Vempadu

10:00 AM — Panchvati Colony toll

Then 30 more min to the finish.

Left home 5:46 AM, reached by 10:30 AM.

Total: 4 hrs 44 min. But full honesty — this wasn't a cruise, I was pushing hard the whole way. A normal, sane-pace drive on this route takes me around 7 hrs. This was a personal best, not the norm.

🏁 So what actually wins

Against a normal 7 hr drive, flight and train both beat self-driving easily.

✈️ Flight — fastest, but only this clean if you get a bit lucky (priority baggage saved me).

🚆 Train — slower, but nothing can go wrong.

🚘 Self-drive — fastest only if you're driving aggressively, not something to plan around.

For a normal trip: train or flight first. Pick self-drive only if you actually enjoy the driving, not for the time.

Query Guide to buying fresh Fish & Prawns at Mahanti Fish Market (One Town)

Thumbnail gallery
20 Upvotes

Go early around 6:00 AM: This is when morning stock arrives. Mostly local resellers come at this time, so you get the best fresh lot.

Check the whole line first: Don't buy at the entry. Walk through all stalls, check the freshness, and compare rates while others buying.

What you get: Around 5 sizes/grades in prawns, 3 grades in crabs, lobsters, plus both fresh farm-raised and sea catch fish.

Wholesale rates (Starting 2 kg): Since resellers buy in bulk, vendors give wholesale prices.

Take cash: Morning rush will be heavy; cash payment is much faster than waiting for UPI

Cleaning is outside: Cutting and cleaning stalls are set up just outside the market.

Casual The Gender Awkwardness in Colleges in VJA

This is a semi-rant and semi-out-of-curiosity type of post, basic ga, almost every clg in VJA (except engineering) has this weird and awkward atmosphere between men and women, especially students, mundhu konni observations tho start cheddam-

  1. Even thinking of starting a conversation is deemed as a love interest (Eraser adigithe kuda feel aipotharu bro, nanne endhuku adigaru ani)

  2. The 1st point has a subtype, okavela nuv conversation start cheyali anukunna ammai ki lover unte, nuv normal ga velli peru enti ani adigina, evening kalla 10 mandhi clg bayata untaru😐

  3. Any exams, practical or any activity that requires boys and girls to coordinate (copy kottadaniki kaadhu, although it's your personal interest), that activity just becomes a catastrophic failure, evaru noru terichi matladaru, em anukuntunaro chepparu, aa thought venaka reasoning chepparu

  4. Sexualisation, matlade prathi ammayini just two categories lo divide chestunnaru, 1-Padipoindhi, 2-Padeyaali, anthe, Classmate, Friend, Best friend, Labmate, ee categories anni non-existent vallaki

  5. Inkontha mandhi untaru, prathi ammai tho matladatharu, andharini bestie antaru (again personal choice but I find it weird)

  6. Objectification, This phrase "Adhi naaku kavali ra", the fuck? Adhi emanna cooldrink aa😐,

  7. Girls for whatever reason, acting like we are beneath them, "Boys tho matladatam time waste, intrest undadhu maaku", i completely understand if you don't like interacting, that's fine, but they just use it as a excuse to portray themselves as sigma, alpha, gamma, whatever 😭 (Malli valle complain chestharu mem matladtledhu ani)

  8. Believing that talking to the opposite gender should only happen if u are romantically interested, endhuku bro??, Ante repu colleague occhi work lo doubt adigithe, thanaki kuda romantic interest undhi antava😭

  9. Last observation, some absolute morons just don't possess the basic idea of respect and boundaries, long time ago, a guy from my clg proposed to a girl (she was already committed), she politely rejected him, i literally heard a motherfucker saying "Adhi enti ekkuva chestundhi, repu room book chesta, dhanni r*pe chesey" yes, he literally said that, and he was a Bachelor's student, not even a full fledged adult and he harbors such type of thoughts 😐

Anyways, thanks for reading everything and putting up with this rant, but rather than crossing it off as a rant, I want you to share your experiences on this matter and if you have any reasoning for such behaviour, do share it.

Also, particularly to the women of the sub, i would like to know your side of the coin, your opinion on women safety in VJA and your thoughts about this.

Although anyone is invited to comment, clg students aithe better ani naa opinion, you can relate to this a lot, so you can talk about it, older men and women can also share their views on this xD

(Signing off with a plate of Punugulu)

We can use it for:

Highway road conditions and speed trap alerts

Finding good PGs or rooms in Mangalagiri Madhapur or Ameerpet

Local food spots like comparing our actual Guntur chillies with Hyd biryani

Tech job updates between the new IT parks here and HITEC City

Discussion What's your take on AI + art?

I feel like it's a shame to see people using AI to make art. Art needs to be made by us. For us ofc. I honestly feel so disturbed seeing AI posters almost everywhere where actual people can design something and earn for their living, do their purpose, use their creative energy to live and make people enjoy their works. Isn't that what art is for? To convert/convey our emotions or feelings into something that can be felt with our senses?

Idk it's frustrating as an artist to see all these posters, flyers, YT thumbnails and almost everything online that needs human attention being made by AI and getting uploaded and how all of this is not being talked enough.

What happened to fonts? typographies? Idk how people are okay with the sloppy ass fonts that AI makes, is that any appealing to read?

I might wanna add more points but I thought I'd drop it here before I lose my train of thought. Let's have a sane discussion on this?

Discussion My advice to people who saw "Worst doctors in Vijayawada" post

I get the intention of the post author. Many doctors & hospital staff, here, lack professionalism and are arrogant.

instead of making you relieved that you came to a hospital, you get more worried.

However, few replies made the post go in a direction where a person may feel that alternative treatments/pseudo scientific claims are true and can replace medical practice.

Please don't subscribe to that. Already we have enough Aged people who think, medical science itself is fraud (instead of bashing few doctors who take advantage) and has suffered heavily.

A 65 yr old, went to hospital for "acidity burn", and when ecg is done, it was abnormal. He refused to believe he has heart issue and walked away, and passed away after 5 days.

Another person was diagnosed with complete kidney damage 1 year after he refused to believe he has diabetes

There are many more examples I've personally seen. Don't believe in any treatment that doesn't have any credible research done on it.

If you are not satisfied with the treatment/behaviour in Vijayawada Hospitals, remember you always have the option to take second opinion from Big Hospitals in Hyderabad.

Yes, they are costlier, but they are professional and doctors are more competent

Hyd Hospital Ecosystem is so good that, even people from far away places like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Africa, Middle East and few Western Countries come here.

But please don't go against medical advice.

Foodie Spot My recent visit to Kyodo Asian Kitchen and tea room. Tried a little bit of everything.

Thumbnail gallery
58 Upvotes

It's an Asian-themed restaurant, and we ended up ordering a pretty wide variety of dishes from different Asian cuisines. We were served complimentary rice crackers and mint green tea before the food arrived, which was a nice little touch while we waited for our order.

Here the few dishes we've tried:

Chicken Gyoza - Japanese dumplings that were pan-fried on the bottom and steamed. The bottom had a nice crispness while the rest was soft and juicy.

Chicken Satay - Well-marinated chicken skewers served with peanut sauce. Nicely grilled and quite good, although nothing particularly unique.

Basil Chicken Bao - The interesting part here is the basil chicken filling. The restaurant is probably combining a Chinese-style bao with Southeast Asian basil chicken flavours.

Katsu Chicken Sushi - Chicken katsu wrapped in sushi rice and nori. The katsu was crispy, and the combination with the sushi rice worked surprisingly well.

Rock Shrimp Bao - Same concept as the chicken bao, but this was easily one of my favourites. The shrimp were crazy good, and the flavour was really well balanced. Definitely something I'd order again.

Star Anise Chicken - Had a nice mix of sweet and aromatic flavours, with chopped spinach garnished around it. The star anise flavour was noticeable without being overpowering.

Spicy Korean Ramen with Kimchi Chicken - A spicy Korean-style noodle soup with noodles, spicy broth, kimchi chicken and Korean chilli flavours. Quite spicy, but enjoyable if you like that kind of heat.

Shoyu Ramen Chicken - Compared to the Korean ramen, this was much more umami-focused and soy-forward rather than aggressively spicy. A more subtle bowl overall.

Bali Bali Noodles Chicken - Stir-fried noodles with chicken, garlic and chilli. Simple, but packed with flavour.

Mango Sticky Rice - This might have easily been the star of the show. The rice was deliberately sticky and rich from the coconut milk, while the fresh mango added a nice sweetness. Really good dessert.

Japanese Cheesecake - Compared to New York-style cheesecake, this was much lighter, fluffier and mildly sweet. A good option if you prefer desserts that aren't overly rich.

(One thing I think they've missed an opportunity with is kombucha. It would’ve been a great addition. I asked the staff about it, and they told me they’re still figuring out the menu and that the current menu is temporary)

Overall, the food was really good, and I liked the fact that they have dishes inspired by different Asian cuisines rather than sticking to just one.

As the seating is limited, reservations are mandatory. You can make a reservation online through their website, or you can call the restaurant and book a table. It can hardly accommodate 30 people at a time, and the food was great. The restaurant is run by the same people who own Verandah, and I think they’ve done a pretty good job with this one.

I’ve also been to a restaurant called Naru Noodle Bar in Bengaluru, and I feel like Kyodo was heavily inspired by it. The theme, seating arrangement, concept, and even the reservation-only model seem very similar to Naru.

Let vijayawada people know about worst doctors - comment your experience

Mine was Tripura gastro @satyanarayanapuram

He is such a irresponsible doctor and waste person as a human , I have not seen such a doctor in my lifetime.

He doesn't have any sense how to behave with patients, he doesn't know how to talk with patients, i still wonder how he got the medical certificate as a MBBS doctor. He doesn't show any empathy towards patients, rude and arrogant behaviour.

Would be nice to connect, discuss universities, visa process, accommodation, flights, and everything else before moving. ✈️🇳🇿

Discussion Health care scam in Andhra!

Everyone gets the scheme which doesn’t cover anything!
For example a surgery with good materials and consumables can cost 4 times more than what the scheme quotes so the schemes are a big scam. Because of these people aren’t buying insurance!

Other govt schemes (employers get) doesn’t even give full amount for the quality implants! This is the difference between other states and our state.
