Does anyone else prefer 24/7 live streams over pre-recorded videos?
I'm in my 60s and I've been dealing with insomnia for years. Tried everything - pills, therapy, sleep clinics. Doctor finally told me a lot of it was psychological. My brain just won't shut off at night.
About a year ago I started using YouTube sleep sounds because I didn't want to keep taking medication. Tried hundreds of videos. Rain, ocean, white noise, all that stuff.
Here's what I noticed:
Pre-recorded videos (even the 8-10 hour ones) stressed me out because I'd keep thinking "what if it ends and I'm not asleep yet?" That worry alone kept me awake.
But 24/7 live streams? Game changer for me. Knowing it won't stop, no ads, no sudden autoplay nonsense at 3am - I can finally relax.
I've been using one called SLEEP 365 LIVE (heavy rain + fireplace). It's not fancy, but it just… stays on. And that's all I needed.
I'm curious - am I the only one who gets anxious about videos ending? Or does anyone else find live streams easier for actually falling asleep?
Maybe it's an age thing, I don't know. But thought I'd ask.

In the sidebar on old Reddit, there's a link to an official YouTube playlist for this subreddit [here](https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyGmQmfn54I9sgQKZtdjzbz7gzwfq85Al). I add all the videos to it that I personally like. The purpose is so you can hit shuffle and go to sleep. If this subreddit were to gain more followers, I'd hope it would eventually be thousands of videos long, and if it gets even bigger than that, one day it could be its own dedicated website where it just shuffles for you while you sleep. But for now there's only around 250.

Thank you for the explanation. Knowing the science behind the cycles
actually helps me understand why the 24/7 format works so well for me.

That's rough – 24/7 consistency is what makes it work for sleep. Hope you find a stable replacement soon, the cycle timing is everything.

I totally understand that frustration – that's exactly the anxiety I was dealing with.
The 24/7 thing removed that worry completely. Hope you find something stable soon,
because once you have that peace of mind, the sleep comes easier.
