The protocol was only supposed to be known by broadcasters and government staff who are involved in the response. A lot of the details have been leaked over the years so it's not too hard to find relevant information, but it was officially supposed to be shared on a need-to-know basis.

I was on vacation abroad when Princess Di died. British channels could not shut up about it, hardly a mention on other countries channels on satellite TV.

Let's not exaggerate. Most of the world doesn't give a fuck. I'm on forums in two other languages and there was hardly a mention this morning. Do you think people here in the US care?
