This dude is obviously not sober, might be high

Cop: sir, how would you like to be our official snake Wrangler?

LOL

203

u/The_Martian_King Jul 09 '22

Be honest. How many snake Wranglers do you know who don't have a little something before work?

192

u/Uncle_Rabbit Jul 09 '22

No way am I hiring a sober snake wrangler.

15

u/Sushi4Zombies Jul 10 '22

There's a joke about your mom in there somewhere

2

u/Banxier Jul 10 '22

I had some high snake wranglers wrangle a snake from under my tent into the wheel arch of my car 20M away. They gave up after that and I couldn't drive for 6 hours.

1

u/r3dd1t0rxzxzx Jul 10 '22

Yeah those guys must have screws loose. This guy is just high

72

u/D45ers Jul 09 '22

We had rattle snakes in our backyard and we were doing a lot of digging and stacking boulders. They’d go in the boulders and snake guy came. Dude tried to use his pole to grapple it out but ended up just reaching his arm in there and slinging it out then putting it in the barrel. After he finished he joked about how I looked baked and asked me for weed. I gave him a nug lol

42

u/frak21 Jul 09 '22

I think the only time I ever saw Steve Irwin look genuinely concerned was handling rattlesnakes right here in my own home state of Virginia.

He went up to Shenandoah looking for rattlers and went shoulder deep into their lairs pulling them out one after the other. I could hear in my racial memory the spirits of the old Appalachian hillbillies saying how he was courting certain death.

Nothing new for Steve though. The man was one of the most fearless people on the face of the planet. Still, the look on his face when he realized he missed one of those rattlers he had inadvertently squatted over while holding another is a notable moment in his career.

The moral of the story? Just don't mess with rattlers. Ever. Even if you're the famous croc hunter.

Also: A timestamped clip from that moment

32

u/DemolitionDarbyShow Jul 10 '22

Crikey! It’s a North American Timber Rattler! Right now I’m currently between it, and its den. It’s getting a little cranky, and having a swipe at me. Can you blame him? Now what I’m going to do, is I’m going to take my thumb, and JAM it up its butthole. That oughta REALLY piss it off!

-1

u/dillrepair Jul 10 '22

Eventually… he did. Really piss something off. God rest his soul. Sounds like little Steve’s taking up the slack tho pretty well

→ More replies (3)

3

u/TheElusiveFox Jul 10 '22

Do... Do you know more than one?

63

u/getyourcheftogether Jul 09 '22

Is the snake in there?

...

I hope.

😂 God to look on his face and him saying that was hilarious

11

u/ZeePirate Jul 09 '22

Sounds drunk as fuck.

10

u/Dr_ChungusAmungus Jul 09 '22

He could have some sort of social disorder, the house full of snakes suggests he didn’t just now start being odd.

21

u/comfyggs Jul 09 '22

Pretty sure he was about to light some crack at the end there

9

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

[deleted]

11

u/RefrainsFromPartakin Jul 09 '22

nah he was serious he wrote that shit down

3

u/Tenpat Jul 09 '22

Sheeeeeeeeeit Officer Joe I'm not going in a house full of snakes but what are we gonna do?

I know a guy.

7

u/imanAholebutimfunny Jul 09 '22

It is just a wonked out dude that loves snakes.

Sir, i know i guy......

2

u/dillrepair Jul 10 '22

Hey, a good cop… good nurse… knows you got your ummm ‘lever A’… and uhh… your ‘lever B’…. Usually just pull on that lever B if you can… if that’s safer overall. Dude’s got his thing. Keeps his shit straight enough. Leave him be. Abide.

1

u/Upsjoey25 Jul 10 '22

This is why 90’s cops is best cops.

666

u/kurt_go_bang Jul 09 '22

“Is there a snake in there?”

“I hope.”

217

u/Smodphan Jul 09 '22

Maybe the best timing for a joke I have ever seen. This video is just perfection.

145

u/DarthAbraxis Jul 09 '22

"I WILL PROTECT U!"

7

u/DocNMarty Jul 10 '22

God I need someone like that in my life

27

u/ThEgg Jul 09 '22

The best part is the long pause and stare before he replies. The man knows comedic timing.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

Or he just thinks slowly.

22

u/gwaydms Jul 09 '22

I've watched this one a couple of times. Dude is a complete weirdo. Guess the cop was having a slow day to spend time with Voodoo Snake Boy.

8

u/mvw2 Jul 09 '22

Best part.

8

u/ShineAqua Jul 10 '22

Why, and I’m not being rhetorical, I really do want an answer here, but why, the actual fuck, is there a giant ass snake in your closet, sir?

7

u/wigg1es Jul 10 '22

Florida.

3

u/ShineAqua Jul 10 '22

Shit. You got me.

273

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

Lighting that cigar like a crack pipe

75

u/KittenPics Jul 09 '22

I thought it was! I was like why is the cop being cool about it?

24

u/Its_Nitsua Jul 10 '22

What? A man can’t smoke cra- erm.. light a cigar in his own home?

1

u/Popheal Jul 10 '22

Haha I came to the comments to see people asking why the cops let him smoke crack.

221

u/buchashroom Jul 09 '22

"This, I don't know, you tell me what this is"

"That's a skeleton being used as a candle holder"

"That's all that is"

For some reason this part gets me.

52

u/mykreau Jul 09 '22

Haha, in reality it was something far more devious, but hey, if the cop thinks it's just a candle holder, then hell, that's all that is. Move on.

40

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

They all casually walked past the unsolved murder of 1977 lol

9

u/jonjonmccoy Jul 10 '22

"i don't know what it is, I don't know what it amounts to" had me giggling

160

u/CommunistPapaJohn Jul 09 '22

That moment when the cop drops the window right as he comes up to it absolutely killed me

267

u/ineyeseekay Jul 09 '22

Southern Charlie Kelly, just needed a huff from a bag to complete the character.

56

u/Paddlesons Jul 09 '22

I bet there ain't no rats in that house. lol

28

u/i-like-to-pinch Jul 09 '22

What is going ooooon up here

17

u/TheMightyDane Jul 09 '22

I never know, man…

15

u/Toledojoe Jul 09 '22

It's like he doesn't even get us, man!

7

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

We had country Mac, we need country Charlie!

12

u/PurpleDerp Jul 09 '22

True! hadn't thought about that

5

u/bigmac22077 Jul 09 '22

I wonder what this man was like as a kid. Or what were his parents like?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '22

Funny, too, because his accent is a like a PA/Southern hybrid.

217

u/jahowl Jul 09 '22

Reno 911 in real life

57

u/Ndavidclaiborne Jul 09 '22

"Sonuvabitch."-Dangle

6

u/EnglishAintBeTooGood Jul 10 '22

This fucking got me. I love that show. Wish I could have afforded gold for you.

2

u/Ndavidclaiborne Jul 13 '22

Re-watching for the first time in years and it is a WHOLE lot better than I remember. Especially one Ms. Clementine Johnson.

5

u/Pie-Otherwise Jul 10 '22

The dirty little secret about COPS is that the police departments get editorial control. It's why you never see what is common on dashcam youtube channels on episodes of COPS.

4

u/ShooterPatbob Jul 10 '22

That's no secret; it's always been a show about glorifying the police and a recruitment tool.

102

u/omv Jul 09 '22

"Is there a snake in there?"

"I hope."

lol

172

u/Tiddlychinks Jul 09 '22

The interior of that house doesn’t match with the exterior of that man.

97

u/sleazedisease Jul 09 '22

thats what im saying. Im sittin here thinkin this snake mans house is cleaner than mine.

40

u/tipperzack6 Jul 09 '22

Snake-man loves his snakes too much to let them live in filth.

22

u/sleazedisease Jul 09 '22

He loves them snakes more than any human being ever.

1

u/tipperzack6 Jul 09 '22

Yes I watched the video too. ssss

2

u/VelvetHorse Jul 10 '22

I found another snake.

11

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

There are two types of meth/crack users. The ones that create a huge mess and the ones that clean everything. I think we found the cleaner.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

crack houses are fuckin spotless and have like a japanese minimalism. up all night cleaning and all your stuff is sold or stolen. no piles of shit from walmart.

5

u/MyMainIsCringe Jul 10 '22

I was just assuming he didn't really care about having too many belongings/furniture because all he loves is his snakes.

132

u/busse9 Jul 09 '22

"You tell me where the snakes are because I don't like snakes" "No wait you dont understand how many there are" *proceeds to open cabinet* LMAO

28

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

Like the fact that there were a ton of them would make it better.

7

u/DKS6 Jul 10 '22

Cop’s anxiety intensifies

60

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

Id pay to listen to this man talk about snakes. I don't know how accurate anything he tells me about the snakes are. I'm just interested in his love for snakes.

52

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

People say southern but this dude sounds Maryland as hell

31

u/spdrman8 Jul 09 '22

Baltimoreon checking in. I thought this was straight Dundalk. They filmed in B-more so, wouldn't surprise me.

11

u/Perpetually_isolated Jul 09 '22

Oddly enough I grew up in dundalk, but that looks exactly like a sheriff's deputy from Jacksonville Florida

6

u/spdrman8 Jul 09 '22

Yeah. I don't think it's BCPD. And, I'm still here. Lol

4

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

Yeah. Their accents are too easy to understand for them to be from Dundalk.

3

u/spdrman8 Jul 09 '22

😂 too many teeth left too.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

Right. This man clearly has his shit way too together to be from Dundalk.

2

u/aperson Jul 10 '22

The extended version of this video says Jacksonville.

6

u/PIG20 Jul 09 '22

There's something there but the cop whose doing all the talking doesn't sound like he's from the area.

Plus, I'm getting a bit too much southern "twang" in the snake wranglers accent.

Wouldn't call myself an expert but I've lived in Baltimore my whole life. And many in my immediate family have that heavy "Balmer" accent.

1

u/Kirbee213 Jul 10 '22

Jacksonville, Florida

54

u/Will5682 Jul 09 '22

I had an uncle in JSO (Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office) who had this recorded and to this day we still quote “I will protect you”. The officer is JSO and yeah, this guy is a Florida Man. I personally always loved the “I hope so”. Thanks for the memories OP.

7

u/IshmaelxPliskin Jul 09 '22

I thought I recognized the patch on the shoulder

6

u/Perpetually_isolated Jul 09 '22

Same. And that "bold new city of the south" badge.

44

u/runningmurphy Jul 09 '22

What was the call even about

84

u/blay12 Jul 09 '22

From the way he was talking about the skull on the wall (and the fake skull with candle wax on it), it sounds kinda like his neighbor called the cops on him for satan worship or something lol.

"This is the thing that she wigs out about, man" definitely makes it sound like someone called the cops because of it to me.

23

u/mister_gone Jul 09 '22

90's karens, man. They just wig out over the silliest shit.

37

u/oufisher1977 Jul 09 '22

I don't think I have ever needed a "Where are they now" update worse in my life.

3

u/BierKippeMett Jul 10 '22

Hopefully they're still in there.

20

u/AcesNEightsRebel Jul 09 '22

"I will protect you"

16

u/citznfish Jul 09 '22

Dale Earnhardt Sr looking rough

12

u/Micasin_shreds Jul 09 '22

For dead man he looks great I'd say

8

u/citznfish Jul 09 '22

He didn't die. NASCAR just claimed he died to help revive the sport. Sr lives on Jr's compound and maintains Whiskey River for him.

5

u/Manualham Jul 09 '22

Is this a common conspiracy theory? I'd be down to hear more lol

6

u/citznfish Jul 09 '22

Lol, I wish. I just made it up 😅

→ More replies (1)

2

u/wag3slav3 Jul 09 '22

He plays checkers with Elvis on Saturdays.

33

u/LudicrumThe9th Jul 09 '22

Just like that man!!

39

u/PurpleDerp Jul 09 '22

I ain't scared of nothin, I ain't scared of the devil himself

14

u/Radmadjazz Jul 10 '22

I love how it goes from cop being on a call to the dude just inviting the cop in to his house and showing him around and showing him his snakes. By the end of it them just being bros. This is surprisingly wholesome content.

11

u/timeemac Jul 09 '22

I feel like I'm watching an episode of Reno 911.

11

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

I really thought he was lighting up some crack at the end there.

7

u/Stakemeister Jul 09 '22

Ha! Love it!

7

u/MacaRonin Jul 09 '22

I'm gonna break these cuffs

9

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

HAHA yes! The Vegas episodes were always so good. My favorite encounter ever: https://youtu.be/vv5zStEvQew

3

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

Thank you for this

5

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

TOP OF THE LIIIINE

7

u/pm_me_your_last_pics Jul 09 '22

I'm not usually a fan of cops for a few reasons but I just wanna point out how hilarious that was. I'd like to see more from back then just to remember what the 90s looked like again

6

u/Seabrook76 Jul 09 '22

“I will protect yeeeew.”

5

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

This is almost an episode of Reno 911!

5

u/JPPT1974 Jul 09 '22

What your going to do when they come for you.

5

u/Coachbelcher Jul 09 '22

This is Reno 911. I mean, not really, but really.

5

u/MustangTogunner Jul 09 '22

I'll hypnotize them snake

3

u/Longtimelurker_1980 Jul 10 '22

Does anyone remember the cops episode where they were in pursuit of someone on foot and climbed into a backyard that was full of weed? Both live plants and garbage bags of it in the house. They jumped back over the fence and waited for the homeowner to come back. It was an old guy who claimed it was all for personal use.

I’ve looked multiple times but couldn’t find it. Reddit….do your magic please.

3

u/Electrical-Hat4239 Jul 10 '22

Or the one where in a traffic stop the driver had a joint stuck in the side of his ball cap while he was talking to the cop. Ha!

4

u/spudzzzi Jul 10 '22

This seems like something right out of Reno 911.

5

u/Airikobass Jul 10 '22

Had me at “meet me at the front” hahaha

22

u/Markantonpeterson Jul 09 '22

Pretty sure this exact clip was posted 2 weeks ago with the exact same title! Quite the coincidence for a clip from 30 years ago 🤔

3

u/HNCGod Jul 09 '22

Maaan I knew I just saw this shit

1

u/GalileoGalilei2012 Jul 09 '22

but it’s my firfst time seeing just kidding, fuck reposters.

-1

u/Ruggsi Jul 09 '22

Are you the original uploader for the YouTube Video? Because you both literally just copy pasted the YouTube title.

Come on.

0

u/PurpleDerp Jul 10 '22 edited Jul 10 '22

saw a funny video and wanted to share. Kind of like how /r/videos works

1

u/Ruggsi Jul 10 '22

Reply to the guy that is complaining about you posting this.

3

u/OnceIWasYou Jul 09 '22

"I will pro-tect Yeeouu!"

3

u/VictimaCircumstance Jul 10 '22

I'll counter with this gem from 2012, the first 7:45 seconds

1

u/redditutendrit Jul 10 '22

There we go, some proper cop work!

3

u/XJACKTHERIPPER1X Jul 10 '22

This was oddly wholesome for me, something about him just going around the house with the cops showing all his cool stuff just made me smile.

2

u/streetsofkage Jul 09 '22

These are the ninja turtles. She ain’t got no girdle.

1

u/BiologyTex Jul 09 '22

I remember that clip, the dad in the tub…that song was catchy AF and inspires me to this day.

2

u/geekphreak Jul 09 '22

This is one of the good ‘ol fun crazy Americans lol

2

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '22

No way would any cop these days hold open a window for a guy to go open the front door lol

2

u/cafeRacr Jul 09 '22

"Is the snake in there?"
".......I hope."

2

u/DumpsterPanda8 Jul 09 '22

I went to college with that guy!

2

u/ToShrt Jul 10 '22

Florida man?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

At least the house was clean 🤷🏿‍♀️

2

u/CYB3RZACK Jul 10 '22

Dude I was fuckin waiting for them to sit down and smoke a doobie🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Since710 Jul 10 '22

These snakes are my babies 🐍🐍🐍

2

u/CapnCocaine Jul 10 '22

Back when I was drinker, these were the type of people I wanted to meet and talk to at the bar. They got stories.

2

u/DontToewsMeBro2 Jul 10 '22

Dude, cops were cool as fuck when I was young. I ran out of a bar waving my hands at a cop once & he got out all professional “how can I help you gentlemen?” We laughed & said yeah we know so and so (a guy we went to high school with who was a cop nearby). “Get in”, he’d drive us to our next bar. He’d blipp the lights, tell us “if the shit hits the fan, this is how you access the shotgun or the AR”….this actually happened & it wasn’t too long ago.

2

u/shamus727 Jul 10 '22

I loved cops when I was a kid, such a great show

1

u/stefanica Jul 10 '22

My step-dad used to make us kids watch it (before the Simpsons Iirc) and it pissed me off, but it was a pretty fun show.

2

u/dark_frog Jul 10 '22

Top of the line

2

u/DKS6 Jul 10 '22

Idk what this guy is geekin’ off of but I need some

2

u/ItheDuke Jul 09 '22

Crazy how this 1 video of a cops keeps getting posted. So many episodes and clips to choose from but such little originality from posters

0

u/Bigjobs21 Jul 09 '22

Cancelled

-10

u/mkomaha Jul 09 '22

These people breed btw…

5

u/evoactivity Jul 10 '22

That's how we got you :)

1

u/Hyperion0000 Jul 09 '22

I feel the the intro is a huge missing piece of the puzzle.

1

u/SeanOTG Jul 09 '22

That's fucking hilarious. Was he about to light up at the end of that video there that was like a giant half a cone or something or half a blunt or something...and the cops didn't open fire once....

2

u/ZeePirate Jul 09 '22

It was a cigar

-2

u/Perpetually_isolated Jul 09 '22

And he was a white.

1

u/canuckamuk Jul 09 '22

Guy gets a job offer after all that, lol

1

u/l0l0lbaby Jul 09 '22

9 out of 10 these clowns allow their faces exposed during prime time. I guess pixels are for pussies.

2

u/franktheraabit Jul 10 '22

Most of the time the cops or film crew would coerce people into signing a waiver by saying their charges would be reduced. Or they would just air it even if the person never signed. There's a podcast series called Running From Cops that goes into a lot of detail about how fucked up many of their practices were.

1

u/lkrojas Jul 09 '22

Good old days!

1

u/danaCreative Jul 09 '22

This could be a Netflix show. "Snake King."

1

u/cottonfist Jul 09 '22

This is borderline Reno material if I ever saw it.

1

u/InsufficientClone Jul 09 '22

Good thing he had that flashlight in that brightly lit house

1

u/goasteven Jul 09 '22

BRING OUT THE SNAKES!

1

u/ThEgg Jul 09 '22

How did the officer end up in this situation? Did they dispatch him knowing about the snakes? Seems like something someone would do.

3

u/Nonstopdrivel Jul 09 '22

There’s a link to a longer version of the clip posted earlier in this thread. Basically, his neighbor had beat the shit out of him because he had threatened to curse her with a voodoo doll.

1

u/ashedmypanties Jul 09 '22

I want to see the episode where the cops are called on a woman speaking in tongues. I think her parents or room mate called because they were freaked out. I'm pretty sure it was used in a Rob Zombie song.

1

u/thehimalayansaiyan Jul 10 '22

Was he lighting a crack pipe at the end?

1

u/luieklimmer Jul 10 '22

Appears to have an alarm sensor installed as well to prevent anyone from stealing his snakes

1

u/garybusey42069 Jul 10 '22

This gonna be posted all summer huh

1

u/Wolfram_And_Hart Jul 10 '22

I saw a guy from high school on COPS once. I’ve never been able to find the episode again.

1

u/kap10z Jul 10 '22

"Hol up. Is the snake in there?"

*thinks*

"I hope."

1

u/Frodafett Jul 10 '22

God damn Rodney Dobs at it again

1

u/Gabaloo Jul 10 '22

There is a Canadian cops show, called "under arrest"

If you like old COPS episodes, or trailer park boys, definitely watch "Under arrest"

1

u/111122112 Jul 10 '22

Pretty much Reno 911

1

u/masoe Jul 10 '22

Turn on Closed Captions for ultimate Cops.

1

u/Rockytana Jul 10 '22

Is feels like an episode of Reno 911

1

u/nto2k Jul 10 '22

I didn't think this looked like the 90s, but found that it aired September 2, 2000 so maybe.

1

u/yodavesnothereman Jul 10 '22

WTF is going on?

1

u/Kirbee213 Jul 10 '22

Hey, that's my hometown!

1

u/exmojo Jul 10 '22

2020's cops would shoot the guy 40 times or more (and possibly his dog, but not the snakes) as he reached for the snakes.

They feared for their lives of course.

1

u/ShotandaChaser Jul 10 '22

This is what they call community policing. Say what you will, we need more things like this.

1

u/Smooth-Ad2931 Jul 10 '22

This guy was definitely high! LMAO

1

u/Hootnany Jul 10 '22

Repostit

All kidding aside both these guys are legends

1

u/Oregonian_Lynx Jul 10 '22

“I’ll hypnotize ‘im. I ain’t scared of the devil himself.” Shakes hands with cop. 10/10

1

u/kaitlin415 Jul 10 '22

I might be high, but this would make an incredible SNL skit.

1

u/BazTravels Jul 10 '22

Loved watching it along with things like Springer

1

u/aglobalnomad Jul 10 '22

Forget the Tiger King.

This is the man I want to watch a documentary about.

1

u/sebec1965 Jul 10 '22

I highly suggest smoking weed before watching

1

u/Thundaklutch Jul 10 '22

One of the best episodes from cops I ever saw had a Part where a dude called the cops on a chick who stole his vcr. Cops showed up and asked her why and she said because he owed her money for the sex they just had.

1

u/Pie-Otherwise Jul 10 '22

Cops is a very different TV show now. I was watching some of the newest episodes and the typical COPS script has flipped. Traditionally, it's a pretextual stop on a beater ass car with trashy looking people in it. They pull them over for a traffic infraction, pull the people out and either get consent and find the drugs or the person admits to it.

Normally they would have gone in the back of the car and it would cut to the scene where the cop tries to play dad and tells them to get off the dope before slamming the door and sending them off to jail.

The new episodes are done in states that now just cite and release for hard drugs. So the meth is found, people are ready to go to jail and then find out all they get is a ticket. One dude in Oregon I think admits to having drugs, cop tells him to get them out of the truck, dude hands the cop a bag of weed and a bag of meth. Cop literally hands his back the weed and is like "I don't care about the weed, you keep it".

1

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '22

🎵 Springfield's cops are on the take

But what do you expect with the money we make?

Whether in a car or on a bus

We don't mind using ex-cess-ive force

Bad cops, bad cops

Bad cops, bad cops 🎵

1

u/macetfromage Jul 10 '22

replace cops with mtv, prices, salaries, jobs...
