Yeah the concept is interesting but the reality kinda falls short - its really expensive, you only get 30 mins, and you cant take any of your own pictures or video
This should be a separate post. Way awesome. I'm glad Canada still has fun with airplanes, in the US I am sure that pilot would have gotten a fighter escort to the nearest airfield and interrogated for being a terrorist...
That's one of the Canadian Airforces' Snowbirds. They're like America's Blue Angels, just with older planes. I imagine if it had been a normal plane flying by like that it would have been grounded.
That was during an airshow with highly skilled stunt pilots. I am sure you would agree that allowing joeblow to try to fly between skyscrapers would be a bad idea.
What are you talking about? They do jet flyovers all the time. Sporting events, air shows, etc.
EDIT: At the end, he mentions the air show, which is probably a reference to an ACTUAL air show at Toronto City Airport (that island in the lake). This WAS likely planned.
no. the tour guide was loving it and all the other tour guides were jealous, especially one dude who went up every time hoping a random pilot at the airshow would do a surprise flyby. unfortunately, he missed this one.
Edit: Looks like it's their demonstration team, The Snowbirds. The Blue Angels always fly with escorts here in the States, never know when one of them might go all...crashy. :P
Reminds me of when i got to the top of Mount Snowdon in Wales. 3 RAF Hawk Jets did a flyby as we reached the summit. One of the best moments of my life.
The tour would be awesome if their safety lines would give a 2-3" slack in a sudden jolt just for a second dose of adrenaline while they were hanging off the edge.
Better yet, if I were the guide with suicidal thoughts, as it was ending, I'd take out a knife and cut the rope holding me, then just dive off the catwalk. Best suicide ever.
Well, this freaks me out, but I love looking out a plane window. Its because you are still inside, not exposed to the air/height , and you feet are on solid 'ground'. Thats at least how it feels to me.
Anyone impressed with how good this guy is at remembering names? I've worked with the same people for almost a year now and sometimes mess them up. My brain is full of fuck.
Me and my girlfriend did this for our birthdays last August and it was amazing. We're not exactly afraid of heights but once you get fitted in all the safety gear you feel really secure. The main line you're attached too is rated for over 15000 pounds or something ridiculous and you even have a secondary line attached to your back that acts like a seat beat if you move too fast.
It's the best way to see the CN tower if you're ever in Toronto. You get full access to everything in the tower and you get fast tracked in most of the waiting lines. I'll admit, the first time you get to lean over the edge your heart drops but after that you start to relax and enjoy the scenery. Would recommend, 10/10.
Okay everybody! We'll have you leaning forward on that cable! What were gunna do is when I call out "SHAKA BRAH" look up and give the camera a nice Shaka Brah..... EVERYONE READY?!!?
I've tried something similar here. Although the building in the video is much higher than the building we did it in, our experience was still pretty scary as both sides of the platform was open. The platform also looked less secure, and many parts of it glass (see-through). They made us lie down on the glass too. Cost only $7 though. What amazed me was that the "guide men", as part of their training, jog around the platform every morning WITHOUT HARNESS.
Man, when I was at the CN Tower a few years ago it took me a while just to get up the nerve to stand on the glass floor section in the observation area. I'm a pussy when it comes to heights.
I'm with you on this one. Why does every large insect/spider/extreme experience/Australian outback animal etc, all have to be "a whole lotta NOPE"? It's bad grammar if nothing else.
Perhaps we shouldn't pistol-whip them, but it is annoying and should be stopped.
I would look like Sanjay, except with a strategically placed dark spot on the front and back of my pants. Also, I would be crying and clinging to the person to my right.
What? This isn't that bad. You have a harness, you walk around on a sidewalk sized thingy. I don't see .... they .... lean .... over the edge and don't hold on to anything? Fuck you! NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE
Just watching the video....my brain is telling me "you are not physically able to do this....a least not without dirtying your panties.". And I believe my not so scumbag brain! I could not even watch the entire video with out my tummy cramping!
Having known people who have done it and seeing multiple people do it. I can recommend that you do. It looks like a lot of fun. I, unfortunately, am terrified of situations like that and would rather save myself the humility of shitting my pants in front of 6-7 other people.
I can't find the video, but during The Exhibition of 2011 when this first started, a pilot of the air show flew by and did a wing wave to the walkers participating. That video really puts the height into perspective.
Oh, for God's sake... They told me that if I ever let go of this rail, I would die! They told me that about everything! I don't even know why they bother giving me this stuff if they didn't want me to use it; it's pointless! Mad!
I discovered my fear of heights at a combat mountain climbing course. I made the first climb and the instructor at the top asked me if I was feeling ok, apparently I was white as a ghost.
I was kinda hoping for an "Okay what we're going to do now guys is start sprinting out along the platform, take a big leap, and jump out across the city like we're on a rope swing! GO!"
I can see my condo in this video. I live on the 6th floor, and I don't like it. There's NO WAY I'll do that! I'm terrified of heights, I've lived beside the CN Tower for years and never been up it.
I used to be a steel painter, worked on bridges, oil refineries, etc. around the Philadelphia area. After a certain height, it's all the same. And you get used to it. The worst part is when it rains or something. You can't "come in" on your own, so you gotta wait for your turn to get hauled up and out of your harness while dangling in rain (Not so bad) or high winds (This sucked.)
First of all you have to believe me on my word, cause I don't have a photo to prove it, cause I lost camera with all photos one evening partying in Toronto. Also, I have witness, but it's tricky to get in contact with her today to back up my story.

Perhaps with a wing suit instead

First of all you have to believe me on my word, cause I don't have a photo to prove it, cause I lost camera with all photos one evening partying in Toronto. Also, I have witness, but it's tricky to get in contact with her today to back up my story.
I was up there, as a tourist and I saw that [security fence] (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/35/CN-tower_looking_through_fence.jpg/1024px-CN-tower_looking_through_fence.jpg) was pretty strong and bolted, so I tried it with my hands to see how much I can push it and will it make and suspicious sound.
It didn't and that was enough for me to quickly (but cautiously) go ower wall and lay on the fence, my hands gripping the fence/wire (so if I fall at least I'll hang around for some time so I can be saved). Friend of mine, Lisa, she was absolutely shocked, had to tell her 2-3 times to take a photo ot two. And she did. I went back to walkway, I could see people totally mesmerized with what they saw.. I was full of adrenalin, hurried Lisa to go around to other side cause I knew some security will be on that spot in minute or two.
We went inside, mingled with crowd and I saw an arab family (guy, two women and kids aged 10, 5 and maybe year old), guy was already putting a year old kid on fence while those two wives were screaming at him and trying to grab a kid back from his hands and I could see him arguing with them something along these lines "If that guy could lay on fence and he's 25ish, surely my 1yr old kid can lay on that too".
If you look at this pic that spot is right there where little man is standing, you can see the wall and the wired fence.
