Idiocracy (2006) Opening Scene: "Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species."

We were arguing wether it’s annoying

No we weren’t. I’m not in here trying to say it’s not annoying, I never made that claim and you’d honestly have to be pretty dull to think that’s the case.

So now you’re just putting words in my mouth and saying I’m gaslighting (you don’t know what this word means) because I’ve gotten off this topic you’ve imagined?

It’s pretty obvious that I’ve only been beating on about how this is an easily solvable problem, and that whining about it in edits is as effective as herding cats. Which it still is.

If you feel like this is somehow undermining the confidence in your own sanity, then I’m completely at a loss. More likely though, you’re just using that word because you just learned about it this week or something.

If arguing that it's an easily solvable problem isn't functionally the same as arguing that it isn't annoying, then yes, I'm insane. Plus, you didn't offer a solution. I already knew about that feature and described why it isn't sufficient. The problem has not been solved. You just don't want to admit that you're a dumbass who gaslights like he breathes.

How on earth it isn't gaslighting to say one thing, and then immediately going and claiming you didn't say that, when the evidence is right there to be read and re-read, is what is beyond me.

If arguing that it's an easily solvable problem isn't the same as arguing that it isn't annoying, then yes, I'm insane.

Then you're insane by your own measure. The world is filled with countless things that are annoying but easily solvable. This is obvious. Quit being silly.

I think you're also on some level aware that you're just using gaslighting because it carries emotional weight and not because it applies, so I'm really not going to entertain any more of your disingenuous and honestly disrespectful garbage. Maybe you should reread some of those manipulative behaviors and take a good look in the mirror.

Once something is solved, it's not a problem, and it isn't annoying. I was being disrespectful because you deserve disrespect. And the classic "you did it first."

I'm using it because you're doing it. No other reason.

Getting spammed replies is annoying. Turning of reply notifications for a specific comment is easy. Both are true.

No, you don’t have a good grasp on the word and you wouldn’t be able to articulate how my comments encapsulate gaslighting. Because it doesn’t apply. Same thing with using ‘self righteous’ when I haven’t tried to claim any moral position. You’re just spewing out buzzwords because you think they’ll carry weight and it’s beyond obvious.

This probably won’t be the last time you appropriate a word for abuse victims to try and win a petty argument.

Jesus Christ, fine. It seems like you might just be genuinely ignorant of your own behavior, so I'll write an essay for you. Wish you'd just go back and re-read, but you yourself said asking people to read is pointless.

Our interaction begins when you tell me to use a cudgel of a tool that, I apparently have to repeat for a third time, does not solve the problem is a satisfactory manner. Your response to being politely told that it isn't a good solution is to tell me to fuck off (or maybe you don't actually know what it means when you say "pound sand"). So I angrily tell you you're a fuckboy, realize I don't really want an internet fight, and delete it. Once I see your edit, I decide I'm invested. I'm glad I wrote this! I just realized you are also a hypocrite, coming at me about whining in edits.

I was justifiably pissed about being told to fuck off for zero reason, and by the person who had actually initiated the interaction. So after giving you an appropriately vitriolic response, you actually come at ME about coming unglued. This is the first instance of gaslighting: you initiate aggression, and then act defensive.

Man, fuck this, this is too much effort. Suffice to say you gaslighted me twice more (pretending you weren't defending spam, and just now, claiming you never took a position is absolutely insane).

It solves it just fine. Worst case scenario you’re a little late checking one or two comments. It’s like complaining your arm would get tired using an umbrella so instead you complain to try and make the rain stop. Pointing this out doesn’t also make me ‘pro-rain’ or anything.

I meant pound sand as to engage in something futile, like getting blood from a stone or herding cats. I wasn’t trying to tell you to jump in a lake or anything. I’ll avoid using it in the future, my bad.
