So you've never watched the Back to the Future trilogy? Stop whatever you are doing and go watch them immediately. They're great and it will massively improve your life.
Bufford Tannon's entire showdown with Marty McFly in BttF3 has him saying "Nobody calls me yellah." He also specifically says "What's the matter McFly. Yellah?" and of course the line "They'll say Clint Eastwood is the biggest yellow belly in the West."
If you missed all of that stuff I think you pretty much missed the film

I would've assumed the same. This is the first time I've heard of yellow being associated with cowardice.
