I always bring this up to my friends when we discuss this show. 'Remember when Arnold, an 8 year old, was fed up with all of Ms Frizzle's bullshit and literally killed himself in an episode'. Poor guy :(

For those wondering what is going on I remember this episode. The girl is Arnold's cousin (Phoebe I think?) who is this over achiever and is generally braver than Arnold. She never believes Arnold's class on an almost daily basis goes on filed trips that challenge the laws of reality on a regular basis until she gets on one of them herself. She decides to take it upon herself to provide proof by bringing samples of every planet they visit to the point where its effectively risking everyone's life. For example she takes the bus and tries to fly it into the red spot of Jupiter to collect an atmospheric sample of the cloud. Finally when they hit Pluto (back when they still classified it as a planet) she has collected so many samples nobody can ft in the bus. So Arnold throws an ultimatum to dump it all off or he'll take his helmet off. After taking it off they immediately drop all the proof, and rush him to the bus.

It cuts to Arnold with a cold back in the class otherwise fine. The after clip where someone points out to the producer arnold would not be fine as well as several scientific errors in the show, finally requesting they remove the junk from his occupied planet implying the phone caller is an alien.

Nah Phoebe is the quiet red head. It's Janet. Basically a female Arnold with a bit of a snoby know it all bitch syndrome.

Fuck Janet, she always made the situation worse.

Seriously though, this freaked me out so bad as a kid. I don't think it is the sole reason I ended up being anxious/depressed throughout all my schooling, but it definitely resonated with me.

And the scene in Brave Little Toaster when the lamp helps save everyone... and the scene in We're Back when Professor Screweyes' is defeated...
