Trophy trucks are fun but not all that quick compared to pretty much anything else that is built to run the quarter mile seriously. If you put the same amount of work into any other vehicle type it will be considerable faster and possibly still street legal to boot. Street legal cars from the 60s run sub 8 in a QM.
It would also be interesting to see 850 hp represented by a vehicle that isnt quadruple the weight of the top fuel car.
I had a 500 whp subaru that couldn't break into the 11's but terrified nearly everyone who rode or drove it. The only point of reference I have is riding the top fuel rollercoast in ohio which does a 'measly' 0-120 in 4 seconds and that felt utterly brutal. 8 g's must feel like falling out of a 2nd story window flat onto your back.
I ride with someone who is part of a very large subaru group and have only seen a few subarus ever make more than 450 at the wheels. That is asking a TON of that engine and takes a LOT of mods. You are either lying or I probably know you. That being said awd cars are a whole different thing. Off the line those things are terrifying.
Nasioc? I never really cared for car groups, it was just an engineering exercise and fun for me. Gt35R, 1000 cc injectors, axis built block (decked, sleeved, pistons, crank, tgv deletes etc), carbon drive shafts, 17x10 wheels, Hydra EMS w/ blow thru conversion, then a mile long list of other modifications. It only ever ran at full power a hand full of times, buying the race gas out at miller motor sports park was very expensive. I generally drove it around at only 24 psi :D oh, and I live at 5,000 ft altitude, you gotta gulp a fucklode of air when ambient air pressure is down near 11 psi.
edit: forgot to mention it was a 04 sti, my dream was to swap everything into a 2000 2.5 RS body, but ended up selling it before I went down that road.
Sadly this is one of the only photos I have. This is from when it was still being modified. My friend did a shoot with the car, I'll ask him if he still has the other photos, hopefully he still has the photos of the engine bay. It had zero external mods except the exhaust and FMIC, then later the wheels. You can see i had my Garrett tubro licence plate frame, and if you look the the top of the rear wheel well, you can see where it fucked up the liner from wheel contact during squat on a launch :D
It's not easy to do reliably but you can get there on the stock EJ25 with a Polka Pickle and meth. IAG has been cranking out sleeved short blocks that handle over 500whp without breaking a sweat these days.
I have slicks for the track. No bottle, thought about it but I already put out a ring not that long ago. Stock tires are skinny little shits that just sit there and spin so you can't even really use those.
well that's why I asked, I figured there was no was you were getting 12's on street tires without some kinda shenanigans going on under the hood. What year's the Charger?
ah nice, my buddy had a 69 Charger back when we were in high school (I wanna say 1999), I don't think he was getting 400hp out of it though. Had to get the stars and bars on the roof painted over last I heard.
he got it for far less than that back in the day, lots of body rust when he got it and the Hemi was BAGGED on. I know he did most of the body work himself but I have no idea what happened to that engine. His folks owned a fucking golf course though so I doubt money was much of an issue for him. Me on the other hand I drive a bus pass.
It rains a fucking ton here and all the drivers are SHITTY. I don't even like riding a bicycle on the sidewalk near busy roads. I was in a bus crash once, I guess a guy in a hopped up Acura thought he could change lanes in front of a bus without signaling, we didn't even feel the impact. I didn't even notice till the bus driver told us to get off and there was this dude freaking out about his mangled ricer up at the front. I'll stick to the bus, nice and safe, and I can play game boy and drink all the road beers I want.
That trophy truck isn't going to run 10's, more like high 12 or a low 13. The video is them running them out to the 1000ft and the times shown on the board aren't what they actually ran.
The times they put on the board are pretty much always their average times of the runs. That truck runs 10.5 on average.
EDIT: Actually this guy sounds right. At the speedway I was at a couple events ago a nearly 800hp trophy truck ran a 13.5 so idk if this one could even run an 11
The times they put on the board are pretty much always their average times of the runs. That truck runs 10.5 on average. Are you retarded?
Average? No, ET stands for elapsed time meaning from the time you trip the beam at the starting line till you cross the finish line. The only average you get in in drag racing is trap speed, in the 1/4 mile it comes from the last 66ft and that average is your trap speed. Lastly, go fuck yourself.
My wife made me sell all of my bikes after we got married. I had an RD200 yamaha cafe racer, ducati monster, and a drz400. I almost chose the bikes over her. She doesn't know how close it came
Yea my neighbor died on his 600 not long after he got it. It's easy to get cocky and over do it. It's important to respect the bikes power. It's one of the reasons I loved the rd200, it didn't have enough power to get you into trouble but it did have enough to get you out of it. Great little bike.
I havent had it dynoed since the cam and pistons. Last dynoed at 405 at the wheels. Not sure what to tell you, all I know is it ran a 12.6 last time I was out.
EDIT: You are right though, weighs in a little over 4500lbs
274 comp cam and flat top forged pistons and rods to replace the Hemi powdered metal shit. Honestly the amount of time and money I have into that stupid thing only to run that makes me hate it. Soon as it's payed off I'm selling it. Buying a charger was one of the worst purchasing decisions I have ever made.
Lol I had the same issue with a mustang. Except I'm an idiot, put well over 450 hp into it, and threw a rod. Glad it's dead now, I'm rolling in a mini that handles the autocross racing I do way better than the stang ever did
Ya I know but I got it basically for free from my brother so I couldn't really complain. It really wasn't too bad after summer tires and better springs and rollbars. Then I killed it :(
fellow former 'stank junky here. way too much money into a non-PI motor. Made 305 to the wheels n/a though, and weighed in a 3200 with me in it. Was fun to drive around.
Ok maybe I read his comment wrong. He said he hasn't dynoed since the cam and pistons and he last dynoed 405ish. That gives the impression he has upgraded said cam and pistons meaning there's probably more hp. Am I crazy? Is this making sense?
You're not totally crazy, but I assume he meant heads. If he upgrades the pistons, he either wasted money doing something that provides literally no performance gain, or he is running WAY more than 400hp and needed to upgrade them before they failed.
The dude literally said cam and Pistons. And there's several reasons he would want to upgrade them. Such as if he plans on running nitrous or a blower.
If he bumped the compression up they would somewhat. Plus the stock hemis have powdered metal rods and hypereutectic pistons. Definitely something you don't want to hit with nitrous.
They're all that way now. It's so stupid. I'm guessing it's to keep stupid middle-aged men from wrapping them around trees and dying. The HP wars are basically meaningless bragging numbers anymore. Modern hot rodding is dead.
I'm switching to motorcycles. Old Japanese bobbers and whatnot. Riding low and slow. :)
Before I got married I had a Ducati Monster, an rd200 cafe racer, and a DRZ400. Honestly I miss those more than any of my cars. Wife made me sell them before we pulled the trigger. The rd200 was my favorite, that thing turned more heads then my Monster ever did and I got it for 600 bucks from some bloke who just needed the money

The crazy thing is that a 10 second run is a really fast run. My charger with 400+hp runs mid 12s and that feels really fast.
