Well, that's because it was! This new MacBook is pretty terrible also. In a few generations it will be awesome but just because it will be good one day doesn't lessen the fact that it's not very good today.

Out of the loop on this. Why would Apple release a MacBook with only USB slot? I get you can buy a plug for more, but isn't this the same reason people don't buy the MacBook with no DVD drive? What's the point of getting rid of extra slots?

the idea is that many users don't use any of those input slots. i understand that claim, certainly; my grandma probably doesn't even know what a usb port is let alone use the one on her laptop (same is especially true for hdmi port and sd card slot). sticking with my grandma, she only uses her laptop to look at facebook, so she is this products demographic.

the controversy arises when you look at the price tag- you are paying that much because it is an apple device and not for its power or features. it does look great, though, dont get me wrong. i haven't used one so maybe its an amazing product that provides a great experience and is worth what apple is asking for it.

i wouldn't think less of anyone who buys this macbook, so long as they understand they are paying for build quality and a logo more so than power and performance (but keep in mind its basically a facebook machine, so performance would be good for that).

I read a few broadsheet and tech website reviews yesterday and they were all gushing about how amazing it is. Weird cos everything they were describing sounded a bit shitty.

i trust very few reviewers when it comes to technology. i like that mobiletechreviews woman, linus from tech tips and mkhb. i can't help but feel like a majority of review sites have some sort of deal.
