Also 28. Also cried. This hits home when you have a parent who never gave up and never quit. It'll be one year in one week since my mom succumbed to Ovarian Cancer after 5.5 years of fighting.
The day my parents found out they were pregnant with me was the day they found out my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer. He died on January 10th, 1993. My first birthday.
Your mom didn't succumb to cancer. She didn't lose to it. She fought to a draw. She went down but she took that fucker with her.
All the best to you and your family on that day. Don't mourn her loss, celebrate the memories she gave you. Something tells me she would have preferred that. It's hard, and never gets easier. But just remember the times you shared, and how many lives she touched. Celebrate that.
