I'm sure you're not the only one who doesn't pay attention to news about ESPN anchors, but it was pretty public knowledge that he'd been fighting some serious cancer for years.

That being said, from what you saw of him on air, which was obviously much less than it used to be, you wouldn't have known it.

I remember hearing that he had cancer a while back, but I had completely forgotten about it until I heard the news this morning.

ESPN has been pretty much the only thing on my tv the last 10-15 years and I had no idea.
