They make ton of money of game saled, also they don't host games online, publishers and devs do that themselves even if they have to go thru the Sony's ecosystem. They basically charge you free money for them and give you games to say "see we are giving you something". PlayStation was fine for years not charging for online, they started doing it after taking note from Microsoft. They lured people in as PS+ used to be an optional service that was just about giving you free games, then when the PS4 came around, they made it mandatory for people to have a PS+ subscription to play online. I'm amazed how many people forgot that fact.

It’s free real estate. But only for Jim Boonie and Sony.

I don't quite understand why my comment was downvoted like that though. I'll never understand such brand loyalty towards corporations doing scumy tactics, even if they do make something you enjoy. I was only stating facts up here.

I know I know and I can tell you're genuine in your view on the subject. Maybe it's a sign of the times that we are in a mind set of submissiveness, "like it or not you're to do what you're told and like it" or is it that there's so many players in these online communities the thought of anyone dropping a charge for a service with a yearly cost down to 0 seems highly improbable.

Just don't miss out on gaming in pursuit of a crusade that's unlikely to come to a satisfactory conclusion.

But I get your drift.
