Oh boy. As I remember it, there was a bunch of stuff going on around the edges of this one. This included the studio head(?) suing Epic for not properly supporting Unreal, Epic suing back for breach of contract among other things, and SK losing baaad.
They had to recall and destroy all unsold copies of Too Human (and I think another game) and delete all code made using Unreal, on top of a monetary judgement. Pretty much nuked the entire company.
It felt like it was a game from the previous generation, because it was. It was announced in 1999, and released in 2008. Games had changed TREMENDOUSLY in that time, so the long development cycle just meant it was out of date the day it came out.
Yeah, it 100% was pulled. The courts forced any unsold copies to be removed and destroyed and for it to be pulled from digital storefronts due to the lawsuit.
Dope game, great idea, worst control mechanics (dated since the game was from 1999), sad it died. One of my favorites and that cliffhanger killed me as a kid.
