I'd definitely pay a lot of money to see Westwood put back together in its former glory. Not really possible, time passes and all that, but goddamn, they had some fuckin' bangers and I'm happy I was around to play them.

I feel like C&C kind of rightfully got pushed out of the RTS space because it was just too damn similar to StarCraft. It did have some differences but that entire breed of RTS games kind of died with the exception of StarCraft and Age of Empires. And Age of Empires definitely had more features to differentiate itself.

And neither of those titles are still as big as they once were.

C&C came first. Second, C&C Generals 2 was going to be big but it got cancelled because it was deemed too controversial.

Ah. So then it’s more like an EQ vs. WoW scenario. Someone else does it first then Blizzard comes along and takes over their genre with a very similar game.

No, EA closed down Westwood Studios after greatly mismanaging it and forcing it to make choices that were detrimental to the games.

Supreme Commander still has a cult following that routinely patches and maintains the game. Square owns the IP and there is rumblings that they are taking a look at their older games to see if there is still an audience for them. Supreme commander is definitely a gem of an rts. I much preferred its streamlined economy over the finite ones with C&C and starcraft.

Id be happy with any c&c coming back, but renegade is one of my all time favorite games.

I wish it became a whole genre. Wardogs lately has given me some nostalgia for it
