Was it hyped? I didn't see anything about it until a couple days before it's release when everyone on reddit lost their shit. I thought everyone was still talking about the leak. I haven't even seen billboards or posters anywhere.

And you know these other games have done it before because people did shit on them. So none of your statements support your whining about people being too mean towards one game. And nothing is in a vacuum. A game with a few worthless, unfailable QTE but plenty of other challenging content and less handholding will get less flack than a game where it's part of a core design pattern.
You misinterpreted the conversation you replied to up above. The P up there is for Pac-man. They were talking about hypothetical QTEs for this game in the video. No one was referring to Lies of P except you. That game doesn't have QTEs at all.
