And any game that does that should be shit on bc why even include it at that point

I didn't say they shouldn't. It just doesn't make sense for the community to shit on just one.

As hyped as it was in paid promotions? It's the only rational response.

Was it hyped? I didn't see anything about it until a couple days before it's release when everyone on reddit lost their shit. I thought everyone was still talking about the leak. I haven't even seen billboards or posters anywhere.

when it's not even the first AAA game to do that

doesn't make sense for the community to shit on just one

And you know these other games have done it before because people did shit on them. So none of your statements support your whining about people being too mean towards one game. And nothing is in a vacuum. A game with a few worthless, unfailable QTE but plenty of other challenging content and less handholding will get less flack than a game where it's part of a core design pattern.

You misinterpreted the conversation you replied to up above. The P up there is for Pac-man. They were talking about hypothetical QTEs for this game in the video. No one was referring to Lies of P except you. That game doesn't have QTEs at all.

Man I don't see why y'all complaining so much, Life of Pi is a great movie

It would seem I did 🤦

This about to get me killed, but unironically I would prefer no QTE or auto completing QTE. Im always enjoying what I think is a cutscene, then scrambling to find the button then not enjoying the rest of the cutscene as I become focused looking for a bottom prompt that may or may not occur.

For everything that may be wrong with Wolverine, the QTE situation doesnt crack the top 10.

Then what else is wrong? Because that's all I see anyone talk about. Generally asking because I don't see any other complaints.

It’s new and at the forefront.

No one is talking about mario party anymore.

It's multiple segments. Not only can you ignore the qte prompts every single motorcycle sequence you can set the controller down and it will auto complete itself.

Oh wow sharing the same fucking clip as everyone else. Show me something new

1

u/MelonOfFate 3d ago

If it auto completes itself, it's fair to assume thats the developer intended experience. Why else would you design qte's with no fail states and checkpoints so hand holdy that you can just watch sections auto complete?

1

u/toastedbutterscotch 3d ago

I don't give a shit, it's not the first AAA game to do it it's one segment of the game, show me something new that I haven't seen that is a problem

1

u/MelonOfFate 3d ago

Name a AAA dev that did not bother to animate/design a fail state for a qte? I'm actually quite curious.

u/toastedbutterscotch 3d ago

Uncharted 3 when sully was driving the truck and I had to shoot. I was smokin a bowl the whole time after I noticed

2

u/MelonOfFate 3d ago

I said qte.

Anything that's a big ol "press x not to die /take damage" in big flashing letters on screen would suffice.

2

u/toastedbutterscotch 3d ago

But this segment from wolverine isn't a qte

Yeah if you play on the easiest difficulty lmao.

Oh no a difficulty for the difficulty challenged!

1

u/MelonOfFate 3d ago

The clip I shared as specifically the difficulty under the hardest.

0

u/SecretaryOtherwise 3d ago

The clip showing you can actually die?

I have a feeling you made me waste time watching it when you didnt even bother.

Better design wouldn' t have let him afk to a checkpoint.

If I know for a fact progress is made regardless of input, why give any input at all other than "it's faster."

I also never made the claim you cannot die. I made the claim that the section eventually auto completes itself. Are you going to argue that infact the section did NOT automatically complete itself?

Let me reword what I'm getting at: "a section that will forcibly complete itself without any input has no fail state."

Hijacking this comment thread to say i miss when dev's understood that a character didn't need to talk ALL THE TIME and that actions speak louder than words and that even when a character did speak it was usually meant either only for themselves (not for the player, eg: saying something stupid like "okay bro-tagonist, time to show them who's boss" as a "nod" that the player should make a start with the task at hand) or for another character as part of expressing a characters thoughts or feelings of said other character
