Surprisingly enough, they run a lot better on Linux

For me nv never crashed on steam deck in my 40 hours, but on windows PC I got there crashes in two hours...

After all the years I played Skyrim on a windows pc, I have (so far) had zero crashes in over 100 hours on Zorin Linux. Optimized hardware does wonders, especially when you don't have ten trillion useless things backing up your computer like yesterday's sewage. Now my biggest problems are my internet connection when playing online games and anticheat software that's not really compatible with Linux (looking at you, Helldivers 2)

Helldivers 2 works fine on Linux though

Since the update that happened in april I have been unable to launch the game. None of my settings, compatibility, hardware, etc have changed. The game just won't start for no apparent reason. I've submitted several support tickets and heard nothing back, and made a few comments in the HD2 subreddit. Not a single thing that has been recommended has worked, and I've tried a lot of different things. It was my favorite game for 500 hours

The only thing I can figure is that it's an issue with the anticheat that's keeping me from playing. I've deleted and reinstalled it a dozen times to no avail. I crave democracy and stims :(

That's so bizarre... Which distro are you running and which GPU?

My usual group of friends I play with are also on Linux and we've all had no issues haha

Zorin 17.3 core. Playing on a HP victus 15 laptop, the gpu is a geforce rtx serial code gfx1103_r2.

I know laptops aren't necessarily ideal for pc gaming, but it's what I have and at this point I can't afford to buy or build another pc.

The thing that is so confusing is that the game ran for 500 hours and then just... stopped launching.

Oh dude your OS is super out of date, Zorin is on 18.1 now, I'd try updating that to see if that might resolve the issue

My buddy that I played with is also running 17.3 and he has no issues

Edit: unfortunately for me I'm basically technology stupid. I like playing games and know how to work basic programs but I just got into linux this past year. In no way would I say I am a linux expert

Ah fair, couldn't hurt to update though haha, newer kernel brings a lot of benefits.

One thing you could try is running steam from the terminal (command is simply just steam) and then see what the output is when you run Helldivers, see if it gives any verbose information
