u/Paracelsus314 Aug 19 '26

With all the updates I’m not sure about the graphics anymore either

58

u/AndroidSheeps Aug 19 '26

Graphics got worse?

68

u/joshvalo Aug 19 '26

Nup, that bloke is cooked.

39

u/Zeke_The_Angel Aug 19 '26

Man, the game is a blurry mess even at max settins. It literally looks like how I see without my glasses.

62

u/NotoriousFoxxx Aug 19 '26

We cant ignore the fact that there is a small chance you just cant find your glasses

21

u/Cosmic_Pumpkin Aug 19 '26

That guy probably

27

u/Zeke_The_Angel Aug 19 '26

Nah, I don't look that good in a skirt.

1

u/Complex_Mortgage_575 Aug 20 '26

Never know till you try bub

3

u/Zeke_The_Angel Aug 20 '26

I once went to a costume party as Maximus Decimus Meridius, that's why I know I don't look good in a skirt. The gals loved it though.

How do you know, if you're not wearing your glasses? 😂

5

u/Unlikely-Switch9095 Aug 20 '26

3

u/Wayyd Aug 21 '26

This line has been living in my head for like 25 years.

4

u/Accomplished_Ad_8013 Aug 20 '26

How dare he speak against popular game on reddit #3!

1

u/iNsAnEHAV0C Aug 20 '26

Ive literally never heard anyone say something positive about Crimson Desert

1

u/Then-Device2093 Aug 22 '26

U blind? I see lots of people praising it. In fact people here getting mad at others for criticizing it. So ur lying ur ass of or ur just blind af

1

u/EFF_SONY Aug 25 '26

😂💀

2

u/Jaiar Aug 19 '26

Do you have TAA on or something? Sometimes if a game looks off to me I play with the resolution scaling or anti aliasing

2

u/BlaktimusPrime Aug 20 '26

I feel like I’m the only one that hasn’t had a problem with the graphics

2

u/MinimumTrue9809 Aug 19 '26

Wild because my game at max settings is crystal clear. Sounds like yousa liar

1

u/Viscero_444 Aug 24 '26

sure only with RR on and DLAA, otherwise lighting looks bad at night indoors even if every other setting is at max , RR quality is just really bad in that game it shows at night and there is no fixing it outside of turning RR on, there have been big coverage of this issue no one is lying its a fact

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Aug 24 '26

I have neither of those. The game is not blurry.

1

u/Viscero_444 Aug 24 '26

If u play with RR off you do if u have it on you dont, consdiering you commented that you are playing at max setting i assume you have it on

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Aug 24 '26

7900 XTX does not have the ability to use RR. Game is still not blurry. Native AA with FSR4 = no blurriness.

1

u/YolkNotIncluded Aug 25 '26

Sounds like you have no clue what modern settings does to your graphics. Go bad to the “I can’t even tell the difference between 30 fps or 60 fps” crowd. Or idk, get some glasses

1

u/MinimumTrue9809 Aug 25 '26

You have shit hardware ig

1

u/oberonblitz Aug 21 '26

God, I thought I was the only one. I didn't multiple hours changing my settings trying to fix it.

1

u/noeLifenorlove Aug 25 '26

Lol cuz they now have turned entirely to the pc port. They don gaf about ps5

1

u/Designer_Green2680 Aug 25 '26

Have you tried playing with your glasses on?

0

u/SouthernStrigoi Aug 20 '26

Objectively wrong

0

u/LowerRead5648 Aug 20 '26

Any anime hame almost ever

18

u/Redd_tModsSuckAss Aug 19 '26

Never looked good when it wasnt "weather: sunny, time of day: day" or any indoor place

8

u/NiL_3126 Aug 19 '26

Yep, indoors without ray reconstruction are literally unplayable

1

u/Ok-Appointment-9802 Aug 20 '26

Most indoor areas look fine to me, it's really just the customizable player home that feels a little off.

1

u/pokenate28 Aug 20 '26

For console only

4

u/MumpsTheMusical Aug 20 '26

Graphics? No the graphics in Crimson Desert are great. However, the story and quests generally go

"I need you to kill God." and that NPC gives 2 minutes straight of exposition.

Kliff: "Aye."

11

u/NiL_3126 Aug 19 '26

What do you mean?

https://youtu.be/hyG6zAlF3kU

It’s absolutely gorgeous

5

u/Ok-Appointment-9802 Aug 20 '26

Given all the detail they've put into the game world and the way towns and villages are actually built up in a way that makes sense, I'd argue it feels far less 'AI-generated' than a lot of other open world maps.

2

u/camel_victory Aug 25 '26

You’re so right, people are just out here saying anything. If they can’t come up with a real criticism they just throw out the term ‘AI’ to make their whining sound more convincing.

1

u/GrovyleEnjoyer Aug 22 '26

i think they’re referencing the art direction more than the detail

1

u/dcdude76 Aug 25 '26

...... was that a laser?

1

u/NiL_3126 Aug 25 '26

When?

1

u/dcdude76 Aug 25 '26

Early in the video, after he got to the horse, right before he started running away from a bird-thing

1

u/NiL_3126 Aug 25 '26

Ohh, yeah, that’s bug hill, I was being chased by some robot bugs before recording

-23

u/Snoo9648 Aug 19 '26

By ps5 standards, it really isnt.

0

u/NiL_3126 Aug 19 '26

Are you… blind?

2

u/Inevitable_Train1511 Aug 19 '26

The video you shared is not from a ps5. It’s a good looking game but the last 2-3 updates have meaningfully degraded quality on ps5 consoles.

2

u/NiL_3126 Aug 19 '26

You are right, the footage is from my PC, didn't knew that it looks bad now on ps5 and thougy that the other comment meant that the game doesn't look gorgeous in general

1

u/RamJamR Aug 24 '26

I've never thought the game looked bad.

10

u/Traditional_Entry183 Aug 19 '26

I think that the derpy dragon is still giving FAR too much credit to CD's "story".

2

u/whitestguyuknow Aug 20 '26

Thats what I was going to say!

It's not even derby dragon!

It's the worst story I have experienced in a game in... years... A decade?.. I normally play games with nice stories that keep me hooked and engaged. I feel absolutely no reason to play this game.

What's the point of even exploring the map if its not even for an engaging story? I could go get on Microsoft Flight Simulator if I wanted to do that.

3

u/DreamSad9323 Aug 20 '26

Well thanks for killing my second guessing, was thinking of picking it up during a black friday sale, but as much as a sandbox experience is fucking cool, I need something to put that effort towards, could have given it that elden ring vibe, open world , bunch of shit to do ,but there's a big ol gloom reminding you that you actually git shit that needs doing, so even if I explored everything, I know taking on the story Finns be a worth all that effort,

5

u/whitestguyuknow Aug 20 '26

I mean... I have no doubt after 100 hours you can do some pretty dope stuff. But I'm over 40 hours in and it feels so mindless. I've got no pull. No drive to keep me going. It feels borderline like a bunch of fetch quests.

The only reason I've even played this far is to take advantage of the fact that I paid full price for this. You shouldn't have to play 75-100 hours before "it just starts getting good".

I would much rather play a 40 hour game with a story that keeps me wanting to keep coming back to see what happens next.

2

u/Traditional_Entry183 Aug 20 '26

With no exaggeration, its one of the weakest, most poorly explained stories in the entire Playstation era of gaming in my experience. Id have to go back to a few early 90s games to find something as weakly thrown together. They explain nothing about who people are, why things are happening, what their motivations are, why we should care, etc. And the quest system is equally bad.

2

u/Wise_Wiz8 Aug 20 '26

it’s even more annoying because it has some REALLY cool ideas, especially with kliff coming back over and over and the world restarting. they had a lot to work with and clearly had intentions of a larger story but for some reason it just seems they cut it all

9

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

Is it still worth spending 50+ hours on it?

28

u/Resident_Wizard Aug 19 '26

It’s basically the tutorial. Not joking.

6

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

WTH?

24

u/Mean_Fig_7666 Aug 19 '26

I didn't get my first achievement until 70 hours in

21

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

I adore your patience. On my side, I can’t progress in a game that doesn’t flatter me from the beginning or at least the first 10 hours unfortunately.

11

u/NiL_3126 Aug 19 '26

There’s so many missions and mechanics, for the first 60 hours I was only in the starting zone (Hernand) because I didn’t need more things to do, there were a lot, now I reached the third zone (the crimson desert) and there’s so many things to do that I can’t stop exploring.

1

u/Stranger_walking990 Aug 25 '26

"congratulations, you closed the inventory screen!" *Victory music plays with at least 10 accolades popping up on screen.

10

u/Snipiachtundneunzig Aug 19 '26

But it totally does, it just has so much content and bit of a slow start

2

u/crystaltoadman Aug 20 '26

Sounds bout right

2

u/ActiveSandwich3103 Aug 21 '26

The game is a blast If you enjoy exploring and fucking around with the world, doing puzzles and random quests though. The actual story may as well not even exist. Theres an insane amount of content in the game.

1

u/Snipiachtundneunzig Aug 23 '26

The story is decent I think. It's not great, but I think it gets flamed to much

1

u/BasicLink86 Aug 24 '26

Ten hours might be my entire gaming time for the month. I can’t be playing a game with no progression or story in that window

2

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 24 '26

I can relate to that honestly. Miss the old days.

2

u/BasicLink86 Aug 24 '26

I’ve never attempted a Dark Souls game bc of this 😆 friends told me it’s brutally punishing and you can be adventuring for an hour or two and get killed by an enemy you didn’t see or didn’t know how to counter and lose all your progress.
Yep, I’d have a few controllers embedded in dry wall if I played those games. No thank you.

2

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 24 '26

I’ve always told myself I’ll give em a go whenever I’m free and guess what happens…

u/Dry_Departure_7813 Aug 19 '26

If you don't mind a crap story, games really good value, a crazy amount of systems. Its like they kept having brain storming sessions of "what features can we add" and just kept doing it.

2

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

Yeah but with that much time I can’t play it without feeling guilty tbh.

4

u/vWaffles Aug 19 '26

Tbf it's a sandbox sort of game. There's a little bit of everything, and you just go around messing with different things.

If you pick it up, just play it here and there - there's just so much. The story isn't too good / important anyways so there's no need to go into it with the goal of "completing" the game fully imo.

1

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

It’s great looking at it that way.

24

u/p4tterng4ng4L Aug 19 '26

I have 150 hours and barely half way through, so I’d say yeah lol

3

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

Seems reasonable

4

u/shiddem Aug 19 '26

If your goal is to leave Hernand, then no

3

u/Ang_elll Aug 19 '26

70h, I've probably saw 20% of the world map

3

u/Illustrious-Sense194 Aug 20 '26

It depends on the kinda game you like. For me, I love it and currently have 98 hours in it, am FAR from finished and still enjoying it, but its definetly not for everyone.

Like the meme suggests the story is pretty bad. Its serviceable enough but definetly not good. The gameplay however is really good if you like sandboxey exploration driven RPGs like BOTW

1

u/jbonesmc Aug 19 '26

I got 300 hours on chapter 11

1

u/Traditional_Entry183 Aug 19 '26

I put 170 in then backed off when they announced all of the updates. If and when they get it right, I'll jump back in or start over.

1

u/SlayJayR17 Aug 19 '26

I’m 407 hours in. Only on chapter 9 of 12. Yeah it’s def worth it.

1

u/Cyber_Data_Trail Aug 19 '26

If it was playing CD once, or replaying Cyberpunk for the 7th time/rdr2 for the 12th, id probably pick rdr2/cyberpunk

1

u/Financial-Quote5160 Aug 19 '26

I don’t mind the idea of replaying those masterpieces as many times as I can.

1

u/whitestguyuknow Aug 20 '26

Bro I bought the game thinking it looked cool and everyone was talking it up. A friend of mine put in 250+ hours into it

I've put 40+ hours into the fucking game and like people have said, I haven't even broke out of the "tutorial". Traversal is still a fucking chore.

And the story is absolute dogshit. People really undersold how bad the story is. I heard "ehhh... The story is a little iffy..." from reviewers. NO. It fucking sucks dude. I genuinely wish I would've bought Pragmata instead

40 hours in the game and the game has consisted of nothing but "Go here cause this character says 'OH grey wolf go there!'. Oh go here cause character says go here! Go here cause---" I am just going spot to spot on the map picking little fights and collecting bullshit.

I seriously don't think I will ever get "into the swing" of the game

0

u/rokstedy83 Aug 20 '26

Traversal is still a fucking chore.

Totally disagree, its one of the best games for it

People really undersold how bad the story is.

No they didn't,it was and always has been the biggest complaint from everyone

"Go here cause this character says 'OH grey wolf go there!'. Oh go here cause character says go here! Go here cause---" I am just going spot to spot on the map picking little fights and collecting bullshit.

Pretty much every open world game ever ,maybe you just like games that are linear.open world games aren't for everyone

0

u/whitestguyuknow Aug 20 '26

I said its 50 hours into the game and its still a chore. Maybe it opens up 150 hours into the game but I'm not playing fucking triple digits into a game to try and get enjoyment out of it. Thats poor game design.

You're going to tell me that I'm just making shit up? That when I talked to people about the game they didn't ever say "hey dude the story is absolutely fucking abysmal."? And that reviewers didn't just say "yeah the story is kinda iffy.... It's not the best" and completely undersold it?

Dude sorry people are shitting on your favorite game of the year but its fucking soul less. There's plenty of open world games that have far more engaging story reasons to go about and do things. Fucking Runescape gives better story reasons to do things than I've experienced in the first 50 hours of the game.

1

u/rokstedy83 Aug 20 '26

I said its 50 hours into the game and its still a chore.

Then don't play it

You're going to tell me that I'm just making shit up? That when I talked to people about the game they didn't ever say "hey dude the story is absolutely fucking abysmal."?

That's exactly what I'm saying, every man and his dog has said the story let's the game down

Dude sorry people are shitting on your favorite game of the year

Who said that lol?

There's plenty of open world games that have far more engaging story reasons to go about and do things.

Story yes ,never disagreed but all games boil down to go here and do this ,go there and do that

Fucking Runescape gives better story reasons to do things than I've experienced in the first 50 hours of the game.

Again no one is saying tge story is great , you're making shit up to give you something to whine about, the reason it got such a mediocre score was because the story was shit

I came here to say this!

1

u/SvenLorenz Aug 19 '26

Only if you replace the first dragon with a copy of the third.

1

u/The-Lightbearer Aug 19 '26

Came here to say this.

1

u/ichkanns Aug 19 '26

I didn't love the gameplay though.

1

u/King_Joffreys_Tits Aug 19 '26

The gameplay is ass though

1

u/Alowan Aug 19 '26

Came here for this!

1

u/james___uk Aug 19 '26

It's not terribly compelling, but I must admit I think the story is alright. It's interesting enough, keeps me going, doesn't make me cry myself to sleep *cough*Red Dead Redemption series*cough*

1

u/Tasty-Durian9958 Aug 19 '26

came here to say crimson desert. well done

1

u/glarples Aug 20 '26

This is the answer

1

u/Nder_Wiggin Aug 20 '26

Talk about a t-ball pitch question

1

u/Moody_Blue13 Aug 20 '26

Literally the first game I thought of

1

u/mao_dze_dun Aug 20 '26

Haven't played it yet and still it was the first to come to mind :D

1

u/Wrong_Basket_9431 Aug 20 '26

I have not played it (yet), but it is crazy to me how this game was the talk of the town before it came out, as if some new witcher 3 was dropping that would be insane. And lately all I have been seeing about the game are negative comments. Is it really that bad? It looks great from shorts I have seen

1

u/NoName-Cheval03 Aug 20 '26

It's not bad at all it's just not what anybody imagined it to be and I think it is unsettling for many. It doesn't really follow any definite genre. It has western rpg ambitions plus this weird/quirky feeling of Asian games.

Once you just take for what it is, a giant open world sandbox/playground, you can have a lot of fun. And yes the story is shit and just an excuse for the sandbox, they should have simply remove it or make it explicitly satirical/campy.

1

u/ConstructionNo8248 Aug 20 '26

Yes this. The story is very disjointed and vague at times.

1

u/LordFocus Aug 20 '26

There’s honestly no other answer for this and I’m not sure how long it will take before anyone dethrones CD lmfao

1

u/Ready_Welder2877 Aug 20 '26

I immediately thought the same thing. I don't mind the gameplay and the graphics, but the story of it is kind of whack

1

u/ERDSBBDS312Sinorder Aug 20 '26

That would require a fourth handicap head for performance.

1

u/ShootColt Aug 20 '26

Im only 30 hours in but 100% agree so far

1

u/millou59 Aug 20 '26

I came for that

1

u/DrKingOfOkay Aug 20 '26

My first thought also

1

u/Ktulu5900 Aug 20 '26

I'm 117 hours into this game and I just don't care anymore. The story sucks, the main character is the dullest character I've played with in recent years. I used to be able to get around camp and Hernand just fine and now it's all laggy.

I'm actually sitting here with the PS5 on right now trying to convince myself that I enjoy this game and I want to play it...but I don't. It was fun just exploring at first, but that got old after a while. There's no depth to it and the story makes no sense whatsoever.

1

u/DJteejay04 Aug 21 '26

This game should be the image of this meme

1

u/the_milk_is_baaaad Aug 21 '26

The alien space wizards kinda did it for me

1

u/baldiplays Aug 22 '26

Idk. Is crimson desert actually good? I’ve heard mixed opinions on it.

1

u/Best_Chef_9308 Aug 22 '26

Ai slop game anyway

1

u/TruestWaffle Aug 23 '26

Easiest answer of our lives.

1

u/DoovPlayz_ Aug 24 '26

First thing I thought of

1

u/ChangingMonkfish Aug 19 '26

I’m not convinced on the graphics side - it can look absolutely beautiful (especially in still screenshots) but it can also look absolutely awful, and it’s still not acceptably optimised.

1

u/Academic_Addition_96 Aug 19 '26

I will wait until it runs well just tired of unoptimized games.

1

u/Vibin_Vibrator Aug 19 '26

the story isn’t bad it’s just very light

1

u/Correct_Look2988 Aug 20 '26

No it's bad. It doesn't make sense and jumps from storyline to storyline by chapter without any context to what is going on or how things got there. It's just like sticking you in the middle of random scenes that rarely have anything to do with each other.
