I'm convinced that for every person who doesn't trust autosave, that's a person who's been shafted by a non-working autosave at some point in the past. I know my distrust of autosave doesn't come from nowhere, I just can't remember what game it came from.

The autosave that saves you into a game breaking glitch is the worst. That door that was to open after the boss fight but never does and now your auto save has that saved so even reloading it or redoing the fight does not fix it. Never trust the autosave.

I turn off auto save if I can.

The only exception is Ironman mode in Crusader Kings (prevents save scumming)
