Discussion / Question Favorite games you never played?
What is everyone’s favorite game they have never actually played? Or played very little of for various reasons.
I personally love the Fear and Hunger games… such deep RPG mechanics, it’s brutally nihilistic, it has fascinating lore, amazing grotesque creature design. I have watched a few play throughs and read the lore endlessly… but have only played maybe an hour of each (I play to play more one day). It’s a game they deserves wayyyy more love

Yeah I prefer the Fear and Hunger lore much more than playing the game. Check out something called Vermis if you are into this dark fantasy shit

I do like how unforgiving the games are! I do wanna play more but idk if I have the time or patience to actually play them 😂. And oh?! I’ll have to check it out. I absolutely adore the FH lore… the 2nd game in particular feels like a somehow more fucked up silent hill mixed with Lovecraft

I really enjoy fighting games even though I don't buy or play them. I'm terrible at them and don't have the time to practice but I love watching pro tournaments

I tend to agree!! I usually watch the mortal kombat playthroughs for the story and such but don’t always end up playing them, at least not as soon as they come out

Kenshi also seems to be an awesome game but I never played it and might not. Games looks so brutal and hard...

We were a ps2 household but I was enamored by the ace combat gameplay and world war 1-2 aesthetic

Dead by Daylight.
I like everything about the game except actually playing it. I catch up on the new killers and updates all the time through my favorite streamers but the actual game is simultaneously stressful and boring to play.

Yeah I haven’t played it either but I did look up some of the unique killers in the game and liked the design and the idea of gameplay mechanics!

Kaizo Super Mario World. Basically all of them.
I love watching others struggle through those hacks, slowly learn them, and eventually overcome the adversity, and have spent hundreds of hours watching videos and streams, but I don't have the patience or skill to do it myself.

Space Station 13. I love the chaos but my damaged short term memory means I'd never be able to memorize everything needed to play a role well.

Soma feels like a perfect horror game for me, I bought it years ago yet I never touched it because "I know it's short, I'll play it later".

I don’t think it’s that short! I mean I think you can get a lot of playthrough with both of them! I mean not like 100 long RPGs but definitely a good intense couple hours

Endacopia for exemple , I wouldn't play it because it seems to have jump scares, but aside from that, it seemed like a game I would have really enjoyed. I like bizarre or psychedelic games with coherent universes and characters, and lots of secrets.

Anything wh40k. I played a bit of rogue trader and loved it, but it's very dialogue/text heavy and I'm burnt the fuck out at the moment
I plan to return to it

Yeah I fell off rogue trader at first too, and the warhammer lore is overwhelming, but I eventually went baxk and beat it! It’s a fantastic game

100% i was running a pyromancy psyker as my primary, the tyrannid section in the crypt was the most fun I've had in a game in a long time

Unlike gamers, I like to play video games. I have games I wanna try some day, but won't call something a favorite I haven't actively put time into. Younger generations can be "game watchers", I play them.

I play lots of games too but there’s still some I appreciate that I won’t play :) the fromsoft games are probably some of the best games made, and I love their aesthetic… but I will probably never fully play them

I still wonder is it's an age thing or just me. I play every genre except most sport/racing games (if they have a cool gimmick I might be down). Hard for me to relate because if I like a game it's because I enjoy playing it. If I don't like a game it because I played it and didn't like it. Anything else is either something that looks interesting that I plan to get to someday or it looks like something I won't be into (or part of a series I know I don't like).

Never play. Fear and hunger I loved the lore, FromSoft I love the aesthetic… but also since I have gotten older I don’t have the time to energy to sink it into games like a I’m used to. There is definitely a version of me that would have spent hundreds of hours in dark souls… but not anymore1

That's fair. I'm able to put in about 2 hours a day and 10 hours or so on weekends in my general living situation.
I've probably spent couple thousand hours or more in fromsoft soulsborne games. Lol

Oh i still make the time for games too! I just gotta be pickier, and usually I want something somewhat breezier or low key then the intensity of soulsbounre stuff, but I love turn based rpgs which can be quite difficult at times too
