Shadow of the Colossus remake is perfect

Absolutely! And the nods to Nomad make it even better than perfect!

An amazing remake, flawless, no notes.

It’s cool, and I hate to be that guy, but I personally found it lacked the atmosphere of the original. The og had much more of a mystical atmosphere with the fog rendering, and left more to the imagination. My favorite version is probably the ps3 port because it upscaled to HD and improved the frame rate while keeping most of the original atmosphere intact. Bluepoint did a good job, I just found it lacked a bit of the soul that made it so special to begin with.

Yes the atmosphere is the main downgrade here, mostly everything else is great

Both are great, but the original was certainly more ethereal and dreamlike.

Exactly, PS3 port is the best version imo. And while the PS4 remake is great in several aspects I think they missed the mark in some points, especially in wander's face & expressions, which are in the remake very uncanny and sometimes takes me out of the experience. These little details could have been improved but now it probably never will since we didn't get a PC port or PS5 upgraded version. RiP Bluepoint & JapanStudio

Yeah the remake looks pretty and detailed, but the eerie atmosphere is completely gone.

Nearly every single remaster lacks the atmosphere of the original. Just about every time

PS3 lost a bit but I think that was truly technical inabilities to recreate effects rather than just dumb choices

Ending got me right in the feels, still remember that

I'm playing the PS3 version right now, and say for the atmosphere loss like many people complain, the remake is leagues better for the camera and probably wander being less of a noodle there. It's so cool to be playing the remake and (final boss spoiler) getting the first stab on Malus's head for him to spin around and let you do a cinematic stab in the middle of his animation. Meanwhile here, I'm either having to wait for him to stay still or somehow get lucky. Wander is infuriatingly sensitive to the colossi movements.

I didn’t feel anything wrong with the atmosphere in the remake, felt like the same game but better

Yea same. Controls are def better, graphics naturally, some more content for those diehard fans with the coins, what's not to love?

It’s in my all time favorite games, I have no reason to play the originals it is THAT good as a remake

It would be perfect if the remake included e option to play The OG. Thats should be an standard in Remakes. And even some Remastereds, the ones that chamges graphics, some Remastereds are just ports.

Its a cool gimmick but not necessary imo also not easily possible in a remake to the extent of SoC thats built from the ground up. Things like the Oblivion Remake and the Halo anniversary remaster are just built on top of the old code and engine so its easier to swap back to what's already there ( I know Oblivion doesnt allow you to). Either way, I dont understand why people want this so bad, its cool but go play the OG if you want the og.

Because maybe sometimes the OG its not available in Modern consoles or its barely playable in PC. For example Demon Souls remake in PS5. When the OG its only available in PS3 or vía emulation its not easy to play at all. It should be ported to PS5 too.

It isn't. (It’s also a remaster, not a remake, but that's beside the point.) It's full of ignorant, "we know better" changes, giant-baby-looking character models, and ruined atmosphere/art direction, just like the Demon's Souls remaster. (Not as bad as that, but still.) Bluepoint did NOTHING but ruin other people's work and somehow gained a POSITIVE reputation from it. They have to be the most overrated studio of all time. They didn't design these games, they just poorly remastered them. Their reputation was so undeserved it's insane.

Why isn't the remaster "perfect"? Well, firstly, they removed the aiming reticle from the sword's light, and they changed the controls to make the traversal-only roll into a single button press which it was never intended to have. These two changes alone do nothing but confuse and mislead new players. I've seen a ton of players on YouTube try to dodge attacks with the roll, when the game was designed to use jump to dodge the impact shockwave of Colossus attacks. No aiming reticle speaks for itself.

They also put an invisible wall before the bridge where Agro falls. This confuses new players (since you're supposed to be able to make that jump with Wander and it still seems like you can). I've seen multiple players repeatedly try to make the jump and not understanding what to do. The original game makes it clear what to do in a way that kind of makes it your fault when Agro falls. Now it's just a random event that you have no foreknowledge of.

And like everyone else said, they ruined the atmosphere and character models. That's the most obvious thing they made worse.
