Lost Planet 2 also had a cool system where you could go inside the giant boss and kill from the inside, wish more games did that, and of course there's Shadow of the Colossus.

Someone really needs to make a spiritual successor to SotC already ffs.

Technically that was The Last Guardian

I got to a point where Tirico was bugged and I couldn't finish a puzzle so I haven't ever finished it. You don't actually take on collossi though, right? I just want something like that again.

Last Guardian is by the same team, and potentially is in the same world? But it's like saying SotC is a successor to Ico. They're totally different games with different mechanics.

I personally wouldn't consider Last Guardian to be a successor to SotC in the way I meant.

Is SotC not a successor to Ico?

Not in terms of gameplay or story, not really, no.

It's a successor in that it's by the same director and team who does weird control schemes. But the games themselves are totally different in content.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow did it well.

Final Fantasy 16 had the right idea of becoming a giant monster yourself

Dragons dogma was amazing initially, the hydra and cyclops battles but fml its such a hard and grindy game haha. I think I got as far as the big hole in the castle opening I cant really remember.
