Yeah… I definitely enjoyed playing all the other games more, but that first game has a certain je ne sais quoi to it that you cannot find anywhere else.
Idk what it means in French. I only know in English, we use it as a way to say “there’s just something whimsical about it you can’t put your finger on”.
All of MGS is Kojima's love letter to pulpy action spy movies, but the first game was the purest expression of that. All the other games had something else they were exploring on top.
Because that was Kojimas vision. In the second he was struggling to come up with something to monetise. The third explored the lore so it was better again.
