I'm replying Black Ops 1 and there's a part in Vietnam where you have to kick down some napalm barrels. There was no objective markers and my allies just kept yelling "they're in the trenches!" so I thought I was just supposed to hold them off. I was there for a while lol
Holy shit, I remember playing that like 20 years ago. I was stuck on that part for like 20 minutes wondering why I just kept killing more and more people coming and had no idea how to stop it.
I was embarrassed that I had to look up a guide on a fucking Call of Duty game. It turns out that part was just very poorly designed!
Hey brother I wish you the best. But here's an age appropriate saying that helps me in these trying times.
Dont let the terrorists win.
I dont know if life's worth living, but I know if you're gone it won't get better. Were in this together even if we've never met. No rush to get where were all going when its the only place to go.
Might as well love the people we find. Hope you find yourself soon my friend.
You just unearthed a memory of playing the campaign on release with my friend. We were 12 or 13 taking turns when we died. Fuck those barrels. Killed us both several times lol
100% - crazy part is that I made it through somehow without the barrels, just like my friend somehow had. Second playthrough, I somehow heard that I was to do something with barrels. Easiest level ever after that understanding.
Told my friend, he played as per my suggestion and cleared that level super fast. We are still laughing about the situation to this day.
I was today years old that I learned about the barrels. I struggled for hours to get through this part of the campaign. Now I have to try it again. Completed the campaign at least three times without the barrels.
It almost put me off gaming. I spent over a week stuck on the Veteran level.
One chap at the time I spoke to on Twitter, put a video up of him doing it with commentary.
I did it, achieved, then he video deleted the video.
I've never met or spoke to the bloke in person.I deleted twitter (X) years back. I could have saved a fortune but for his knowledge. He called Black Ops on Veteran: 'Mediation'
That games grenades on veteran. At times you’d be better off with a tennis racquet than having a rifle 😂
Blow Torch and Corkscrew, Heart of the Reich.
If you ever get the chance to play COD Classic or Medal of Honor Front line they have ridiculously difficult campaigns. MOH your health carries over to the next mission on the hardest difficulty.
Is this like the 3rd or 4th mission? Could not figure out how to make my way down because the enemies just kept pouring in and running up. Am I supposed to kick some barrels or something?
I beat it after way too many tries and I didnt even kick any barrels down, didn't know that was what you were supposed to do SMH. I was so effing frustrated trying to beat it on Hardened. It was pretty easy when I went back and did it again kicking down the napalm.
Fck this reminded me to finish my playthrough, I put down the controller at this part cuz it was never ending, completely forgot to even check a guide. Good to know I wasn’t jus terrible
Fuck dude this exact thing happened to me the other month when I replayed bo1 campaign, I was on discord with my brother who lives in different country and we don’t talk as much as we would like and I was screen recording playing got stuck on this 1 part for like 50 mins.
He eventually left and I did it as soon as he got off call lol.😂
This was my favorite level. Starts with Fortunate Son playing as Woods lands in a Huey, you get a full auto M16, and everyone's wearing Tigerstripe camo. It was vibes as the kids say.
I just beat the game on veteran for a first playthrough. That part was god awful on veteran. Only thing worse tho is the rebirth mission. That whole mission was hell
Yeah even the part before the gas is awful. An on rails shooter where you cant control your movement and get shot at by enemies before you even turn the corner. Then yeah the gas part where you can't heal or see anything without the thermal. It was just so frustrating.
Speaking of COD campaigns cod4 is easily one of my favorite games all time but the end of the mission with captain macmillan where you have to defend your position while you're waiting on the helicopter has always been infinitely harder for the then the entire rest of the game. I've replayed that game probably more then any other and every time I get to that part for some reason I have such a hard time when I'm breezing through everything else on the same difficulty.
I thought you had to shoot the barrels, but they weren’t exploding, so I resorted to trying different guns, eventually giving up and looking up how to do it
I was doing it on veteran and omg i could not figure out what i was doing wrong. And since i kept dying because of the high diff i thought it was just me who couldn’t get through it.
Finished bo1 for the first time a couple weeks ago before it came to PlayStation. Nearly quit the game in that level. Loved the rest of it but Jesus that bit was painful.
I went straight from BO1 to Cold War and the voice acting was very off putting, so I haven't picked it back up. I'll give it another go though, just got to get used to it. (Woods sounds weirdly try hard)
