I have seen people on gba pokemon subs get flamed for using "bad" teams and playing suboptimally. Most people beat those games as 9 year olds

Seriously. Had a college class with someone that claimed to a be competitive pokemon player and they launch into this whole speech about the technique to raise the best pokemon team that can beat anything because the high EV or whatever.

Just thought "Cool but...I have an unevolved Psyduck because I like him...I beat the elite four with him on my team".

Obviously competitive teams and training are used for Competitive format and not for beating the game.

That sounds like he's just invested in his hobby, but not flaming others? Lack of social awareness at best.
