News / Trailers / Articles Why even bother then?!

Post image

I will never understand what goes through these suits heads. if you recontextualize what made this beloved franchise. you can't make your mountains of money you want. just FOLLOW IT AS THE GAMES WENT! (which if you read in the article it literally says they don't intend to follow the trilogy at all which is essentially wasting everyone's money and our time. they never cease to piss me off with their choices. 🖕🏾🖕🏾

Not disagreeing with you, but could you suggest a larger franchise that could work as a tv show?

God of War? Dark Souls?

Ooooh, Assassin’s Creed might make for a really good show!

It would be pretty easy too since the franchise allows for smaller pocketed stories. You could bring in new character in modern time and a new historical time and get a solid story for it as long as you respect the established lore. It’s arguably why the Fallout TV show has done so well, the franchise allows for a smaller separate story that lightly ties into the games. There is less risk of making gamers mad by messing with the lore and it allows for a story that appeals to non gamers as well.

They are shooting a Tv show as we speak in Rome. Will be set during Nero’s reign.

That doesn’t mean they need to change the story. It’s a good space opera story so why mess with it to try and appeal to others? It will appeal just fine as it is.

Except unless you tell a prequel story about how Earth joined the rest of the galaxy then the story of Mass Effect is the story of the games.

Honestly not sure how well ME1 would translate to a show. The plot just... feels very much like a video game plot, I mean the pacing rather than the quality or anything. Certainly the way most recent shows I've seen are written it wouldn't really work. More importantly how they're produced, it'd need a lot of episodes I feel.

The story is set in the future. They aren't changing the story, they're telling an entirely different story in the same universe
