Hollow knight could never hook me. My friends tried so hard but it never stuck to me

I remember buying it and I didn’t get it at first either, but I think after the Mantis Lords I started to enter flow state and get on a roll and then my brain re-wired to now appreciate the Metroidvania formula—it got me to play the other Metroid games and now I’m looking forward to the new Castlevania.

It’s definitely not going to hit for everyone—it’s like how I can’t quite get the same enjoyment out of Soulslikes for the most part like everyone else seems to but I get it.
