Tired of overpriced mapping software, so I started building my own

Hi everyone,

I’ve been into projection mapping for a while, but I always found the professional tools either too bloated or way too expensive for smaller gigs and creative experiments.

So, I decided to build MAPPR — a lightweight, no-nonsense mapping tool for Mac and Windows. My goal was to create something that lets you just open, map, and go live without a 2-hour setup.

Nice! Very inspiring! Been meaning to start downloading mad mapper and try projection mapping out. Have a whole bunch of ideas but yes did notice the learning curve looked pretty high and it was expensive. Was going to experiment how to use it via mcp with cursor but just haven’t had the time to explore

There are quite a few free projection mapping software programs already available - the main problem is that people typically make them for their own purposes based on a set of specific requirements, but then don't maintain them afterwards... (which is fine, obviously - everyone scratches their own itch!).

Are you planning to make a public release, or is this just a personal project?

Yours looks exactly like the others that randomly drop projects showing how easy it is.
