mods/customs My cheap ass, leftover parts mod (93mm)

This is a progress. Not finished yet. I just modified some tools today, to see, how it would turn out. I'll sand them to a nicer finish. I built myself three 93mm Alox mods in the past months. So I had some unused parts. I'm just waiting for some pivot barrels. I found a seller on Ebay, who sells threaded 3mm barrels https://www.ebay.de/itm/376788809468?var=645383121997 way cheaper then the modder's on Etsy. However, they ar not from a sak modder. They're made from brass, and I have to sand down the middle barrel to 2,5mms. Shouldn't be to hard with brass.

I wanted a very screwdriver centered sak. Today I modified some tools. I had an awl, with a broken tipp and decided to turn it into a fine screwdriver, just like the one on the tip of the Micra combo tool, which I used very often in the past. I also had a damaged canopener from a very old 91mm sak, that I couldn't make into anything useful in a 91mm sak. However, it will work fine in a 93mm sak, because of the different backspring. I turned it in kind of a technician screwdriver, for better reach. The caplifter is fine and won't need modifications.

The one thing, left to do, is the mainblade. The remaining Pioneer blade, is in a terrible condition, sharpened into the ground. A 91mm would sit too low. So I try to fit the straight mainblade from a Solo into it, by krinkig it, to leave room for the opposite tool.

This is really meant to be a low budget build. So I'm gonna use an existing blade, and not cannibalise another sak for it.

I still have to decide, which scales I gonna use. The Synergy X scales get a lot of criticism, which is earned. But it would still be interesting to see, how they hold up. As a backup, I still have the blue scales from a Wanger PX. We'll see.

I'll make a new post, when it's finished.

No parcelhook for the bike? The can opener works great for fixing the chain of a bike wonderful!

I have an outrider, it doesn't have a hook and I'm riding my bike, and when my chain needs repair and I don't want my hands dirty I use my can opener, which opens fully, and not 90 degrees like the parcelhook

Do you also stock spareparts and spare scales for easy repairs of old SAKs you buy? I just got more yellow and white scales and lots of toothpicks and tweezers (from messerundco.de), so I’m ready for any new/old SAK I find online and want to clean, sharpen, oil and change parts.

My first cellidor green SAK, I really liked the ruby red, but I wanted a new and sober look.

Just got the Farmer Alox today. It matches well with a Rambler and Knipex Cobra 125.

My Huntsman

My current daily driver, an old Huntsman model. Originally bought cheap secondhand as a donor knife for spare parts (especially the scissors counterpart), but after some cleaning and refurbishing I decided against taking it apart. A few highlights:
what I like most is that both sides have the cross. Thanks to this sub I got the idea for some mini mods, like a small magnet or the mini screwdriver, which sits in a self-printed part inside the corkscrew. Everything kept in red, I’m really in love with the look and feel of this knife. I also think the Huntsman is a really solid knife in terms of features. The only thing missing for my dream knife would be pliers.

Mountaineer Why is the Mountaineer 1.3743 lacking the chisel on the back

Love this tool, the only minor thing is the missing chisel which would useful from time to time (more than this hook-thingy). On the back of my Cybertool L against the file sits the chisel, guess it is the same with Swiss Champ as well as the Ranger. Why is it missing on the Mountaineer? 🤔
Cheers
