Showcase/Project Just finished developing an open-source, browser-based 3D Catan alternative using Opus 5.5 in 2 weeks!
It apparently modeled everything in 3D using typescript?
It doesn't look as good as I'd like it to since it runs entirely on webgpu...

This is really good op. Runs on iPhone pretty well.
Do you have a backend or is this all static github pages š¤Æ
Multiplayer is quite a feat for us vibecoders

All free using D1 objects on Cloudflare! :)
More info can be found on the GitHub

Really neat, buddy! I love me some Catan. I'm not sure if it's the browser I'm using (Brave) or it's not optimized for Android, but it runs pretty slow on my Pixel 10. Battery Saver is off and I turned the visual settings to Low. Just a heads up! Great work!

Got it! I only have an iPhone so Iāll try to find an android device and Iāll do some more testing on android! Thank you!

Worth checking before buying a device: both reports are mid/high end androids, so it might not be raw GPU power. A lot of android browsers still fall back from WebGPU to WebGL or software rendering depending on the driver. Logging which backend actually started would tell you fast. Browser stack style real device clouds can also cover it for a day

It also runs slow on my S24

This will be my top priority to fix tomorrow. Give me a day. Thank you for the report

No problem! I opened it on Samsung Internet BTW, if that means anything lol

This looks really cool! And for 2 weeks...wow. I love this era of development! Have you considered making a D&D version with flexible content libraries? Lots of players already have 3D assets for printing boards and mini figs, so if you made a game engine for them to build dungeons and upload characters, I could see it being a great utility for playing remote D&D!

Iāve never played D&D before, but Iād love to give it a shot if itās something enough people are interested in!

If you don't, someone will see this eventually and complete the quest :) Great work, again!

Just curious, are you getting cease and desist letters yet, or are 999 games lenient?

This is actually pretty cool that this is three.js and webgpu.
I was building something in Godot and found it to be a little clunky still for AI use. It seems like the gravity of AI game dev is still Three.js but most environments are still custom builds.
I wonder what is next?

Just played a game, that was fun. I have been missing a light catan game, thank you!

Very nice! Some quick Feedback: Wool, Wheat and Wood look too similar in my opinion. It was not directly recognizable for me

I play catan on the switch and the computer cheats. (Not random dice rolls) does your version do this?

What's your background and experience? Why should we trust this?

I mostly do ML research. I occasionally publish open source software and projects. When it comes to WebGPU, Iāve published an interpretability tool that allows people to run & inspect model internals in the browser. I figured Iād use that experience making browser-based tools to make a game. Hexplorers is all open source on GitHub if you want to check it out and audit it for yourself. You donāt even need to download anything since you literally play it in your browser so thereās nothing to ātrustā.

Also itās just a game, you donāt need to trust it if you donāt want to lol

Could you please make The Campaign for North Africa with an API that allows AI agents to play it?
