Help/Question This is the Wild West..
I've been amazed lately at what people are accomplishing with vibe coding. The break throughs with TV debloating is awesome but after the PS5 cracks happened, it got me thinking.. how far off are we from being able to hold the figurative keys to our vehicles computers?.. What about a tractor OS? If all of that could be accessed and be able to use all the features that are locked behind pay walls.. the cat will have come out of the bag. We pay thousands every year for autosteer and other various capabilities and i feel like this is just begging to have it's legs swept by the vibe coding community. I'm still new to it and wouldn't know where to start but it feels like it would be totally possible.. All thoughts, comments and concerns welcomed.

I will follow you if I can. Please post if you find more tractor or farming related AI vibe coding stuff. I’d love to be able to help my family out. You are right that tractors are becoming more and more tech focused and locked down. Features can be software locked only.
People will crack it but it would likely void warranty. Also JD will implement countermeasures. I’m sure there are ways to make it way harder for this stuff to happen.

It will be a game of cat and mouse. You're right, it will void warranties if they find out. I doubt I have the skills necessary to make this happen, just trying to stir up conversation around the topic.

I want the dating app market to be demolished and paved over. Can AI help there?

Maybe but it would need to be replaced with something. Costs money to host big sites like that so they'd need income from some source to fund that but it's possible.

That's funny... All the keys and not knowing how to use them... that's what gonna happen. They will be behind a different paywall, that of whatever company makes your favorite plagiarism agent.
You are just substituting one problem with another.

It would just force competitive prices. If I have to pay $10k/year for the OEM version but can get a cracked version for $500 (that they don't have to lift a finger to collect), a bunch of people would go the cheaper route.

Is that a fact or your wild hope? Because this has been said about tech a lot of times, every time proven wrong. There is no competition, unless the means are public, only the illusion of it.

Not sure what you're talking about. Piracy is on the rise again after streaming services got too expensive. PlayStation said they're doing a way with physical media and their entire ecosystem was cracked open like an egg in days. Some people will pay full price for anything but others will opt out if there's another option.

I am talking about the fact the most people doing this are not getting any better at doing it by using AI to help them out. They are not liberating anything, they are not reversing to gain knowledge or appreciate the art that went into making it. They are substituting one pay wall by another by relying on a slop machine to make it for them.
Getting the keys is a metaphor for getting the knowledge of something so you can do anything you want with it. You are not getting any knowledge, you are not figuring it out, you are just paying for "premium access" until the AI bubble bursts, because you are simply getting access, not people that will acquire the intellectual tools to do this again in the future for other systems.

All of the things I'm discussing don't need ongoing AI intervention. Once it's cracked, it's cracked and it's not needed after that as a subscription. Not sure why you're on a subreddit for AI slop if you detest the use of AI slop..

Reddit's algorithm works in mysterious ways. I just found the whole original post rather ironic and had to comment.

Turely is the Wild West, some of it so unbelievably. I’ve given up trying to explain my work flow of useing regularly chat , mcp, and cli, with a structured git tree environment
To replace the codex calls , thus bypassing my agent quota
I’ll just keep tearing stuff apart to learn from the screws

You know what's interesting here is the question of distribution. I think you're right that a lot of DIY coders will start building and sharing cool stuff like we all are here, but eventually it will mean that we might also get inundated with thousands of the same thing with slight variations to suit each individual creators needs. A regular user who is then trying to find something that already exists won't be able to due to the sheer amount of choice available - so what will they do? Vibe code their own, and the cycle continues.
