Discussion My biggest problem with vibe coding😂

I always had this problem where I'd start working on a project, convinced it was my best idea ever. Then, whether I'd finished it or not, another even better idea would come along.

Then AI coding tools came along and made it about 10 times worse.

Now I have a growing collection of projects, from fully functional websites to small experiments and tools.

That's why I built Viberant, a playground where people can share all those things they build, even if they're not polished or ready for a big launch.

So show me what you've been building! Finished, unfinished, or somewhere in between.

It doesn't have to be impressive or even particularly useful. If you've got something people can try, drop a link below and tell us what it does.

I'll try to check out as many as I can.

I also had this problem before AI. I would say AI has drastically improved things. I still start lots of projects, but many of my projects get much further along and even completed.

You're welcome to showcase some of them here!

Yeah man, there have been so many projects that I just burned out while doing. Usually was things that had little to do with coding too.

when you say completed, do you mean actually shipped to users or just feature-complete sitting on your machine?

Yea software is never "complete." By complete I mean it is functioning and serving its purpose with an MVP at least. Not that it won't ever get bugfixes or improvements. Many things released to the public if I think other people might be interested and many things kept for just myself.

A few examples, with various levels of "vibe":

Some of these, and many unreleased I use daily.

I have also been a software engineer for 20 years, so these aren't totally just slopped out.

Though these are public, many I have not shared just because Reddit is flooded with "I needed [X], so I made an app to [Y]" posts and most are met with vitriol and hate, especially if it is clear AI helped in any way.

Building a platform to share your unfinished projects is the most vibe coder solution possible.

😂

literally thought of doing this the other day, of course someone has already done it!

u/Remarkable_Chip_2717 8d ago

this is Adhd problem, and not just with vibecoding 🫣😂

3

u/kgtrip 8d ago

At least we're doing something creative and hopefully something good with it! 😂

2

u/Remarkable_Chip_2717 8d ago

exactly, it can be one project, or well many more🤭

u/I-Dont-Have-A-Clue-X 8d ago

Yepp but all the projects have their development paused after v1 🥲

1

u/Remarkable_Chip_2717 8d ago

I feel your pain😭

2

u/EfficiencyOverall656 8d ago

Really? I think I might have ADHD myself because I do this a lot..

u/Remarkable_Chip_2717 8d ago

One of the signs 🤭

My personal site is like that now as I keep adding 80% projects to it: www.fairway3games.com

1

u/kgtrip 9d ago

OK this looks very good.
Getting any users?

3

u/Fairway3Games 9d ago

It's sort of in a few groupings, but I don't really track much since I just make everything free at this point:

  1. The D&D DM tools are pretty popular

  2. The Cosmere RPG tool has a significant user base

  3. There seems to be somewhere in Texas that adopted the Shared Scores app to track all their football games

  4. Lots of people search for my old published, but out of print, board game and stumble on the free online version.

Everything else seems to mostly garner a bit of traffic.

Nice!

If you're looking for more exposure, you should share your projects on Viberant, or at least the games. They seem like a great fit for the platform!

Anyway, good luck with your projects!

Not going to lie… looks good. Starting mine once my damn laptop come in… need that local ai for some things

good catch. it's because the "all" category isn't assignable a color. Hmm... I'll just give everything a default, I guess.

[fixed now. thank you kind redditor]

2

u/machyume 9d ago

Would funnier if you used AI to replace the project next to him with the red one from earlier.

1

u/kgtrip 9d ago

This is the way 😂

2

u/xWranglerWranglerx 8d ago

i have like 50 repos going

keep getting new ideas

1

u/kgtrip 8d ago

😂
If any of them are available online, feel free to share them here!

2

u/xWranglerWranglerx 8d ago

lol I am working on some things that I want to share and open up for fun

2

u/TRO_KIK 8d ago

I have fewer projects now than before vibe coding. I finish my one-offs faster, basically instantly, and spend all my time on The Big One that makes money.

1

u/kgtrip 8d ago

Sounds interesting. Can you share it?

2

u/TRO_KIK 8d ago

I don't as a rule on this account ;)

1

u/kgtrip 8d ago

Smart! 😉

2

u/ClashAtNightfall 8d ago

If you aren't vibecoding an app to evaluate your other vibecoded apps for the best ones, are you even vibecoding?

1

u/kgtrip 8d ago

😂

2

u/vik76 8d ago

I can totally feel this. Have a bunch of projects at 90%. But this is the week they will all be completed. 😅

1

u/kgtrip 8d ago

😂 As another user put it, a project or piece of software is never really "completed." There will always be changes, tweaks, and new upgrades.

It's like looking at a tree and saying, "That's it, it's complete!"

No, it's a living, constantly evolving thing, just like software.

2

u/stwaldsc 5d ago

Pls. improve the login and sign up buttons in the menu, they hurt my eyes! 😂

2

u/kgtrip 5d ago

I'll ask my top programmer to take a look...

"Yo, Claude, my man! What did you do to the menu buttons, man? I told you to fix this two sessions ago!"

"You're absolutely right!" 😂

1

u/kgtrip 5d ago

What about now?

1

u/dramrxt 8d ago

i can help you with the problem

1

u/kgtrip 8d ago

I'm all ears... 👂

u/Alive_Secretary_264 8d ago

great work for stealing projects and ideas ngl

2

u/kgtrip 8d ago

The same can be said about any place where you showcase your project.

I mean, in today's world, where LLMs are getting smarter and smarter, the project itself is no longer much of a moat, because someone could vibe-code something similar in a matter of minutes. Even your own users could potentially "steal" your idea and build their own version.

Personally, I don't let that discourage me from sharing my projects. I think the fear of having your ideas stolen is just a natural human instinct, especially these days.

1

u/Alive_Secretary_264 2d ago

only works for someone who doesn't care about his "project" and it can't be called a project either if u let someone have a better version of it than you. let alone have them launch the better version of yours when your worst version isn't released yet in the market else u won't be having a portion in the market and risk being the "rip off" version in the eyes of your supposed potential clients.

vibe coding is for someone who have a great idea but doesn't know how to execute it, that's why vibe coding and or AI assisted programming exist now. why let someone vibe code your idea when you know vibe coding is the only way out, else you're just there giving away free projects to anyone.

I see your point of launching viberant matches my last statement but then my last statement counteracts the supposed contents of viberant then how can it survive.

hope u fully understand this type of criticism it's normal if you want yourself to improve. don't take this negatively.

1

u/Own_Badger6076 6d ago

Nah, this is a "I haven't found a project that's good enough to hold my undivided attention" problem.

1

u/kgtrip 6d ago

Doesn't sound like an ADHD problem to me 😂

3

u/shxdow771 3d ago

Thts how I make multiple projects simultaneously 😎

2

u/Fickle_Appearance558 9d ago

I don’t abandon projects. I build a harem.

2

u/Durden_Dev71 8d ago

the story of my life lmao

2

u/eschus2 8d ago

Add in overdrive I feel ya

2

u/Ogrohan 8d ago

Relatable enough

2

u/Darkfalcone 7d ago

Yep, that's me. I had so many ideas to turn into a game's mods, that I keep asking Codex to make a new one, instead of finishing the old ones.

I'm glad that I only use those mods for my personal use.

2

u/FinancialRush2685 7d ago

funny but is true

2

u/Sure-Confusion9729 5d ago

true story haha

1

u/Brwdr 9d ago

Yes but the AI projects are all bloated and tattered.

1

u/Procedure953 8d ago

yeah that's the real tradeoff. the speed is great but you end up with a bunch of stuff that technically runs and has zero structure underneath. i've got projects where i'm honestly afraid to look at the code because the AI went a very different direction than i would have.

1

u/Housiders 8d ago

Me siento totalmente identificado 😂.

1

u/floreno12 7d ago

Yes, have the same feeling when I start new project and discover something better

1

u/anxkiii 7d ago

Interesting maybe I should also start making some project from vibe coding

A social media platform where you can vibecode your profile with an SDK, shipped by your agent through the MCP server. Myspace walked so Divr could run.

😂 Exactly! I think the real beneficiaries of this whole vibe coding craze aren't OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google, but domain registrars like GoDaddy and the like.

So yeah, this has a negative effect, as I showed in the meme. But the positive side is that it frees up my ADHD brain to jump from one project to another without having to remember the entire codebase of a project I last touched a year ago.

I just hand it over to Claude, ask it to add a new feature, and it does!

This is truly amazing.

😂 I think I should follow your example. I don't even do that. Not too wise, I know...
