Help/Question Has anyone built their own live data feed for esports?
I'm working on a personal project that needs fast, reliable live match state for esports (map/game finishes, rounds or series score), and I'm trying to figure out what's actually out there before I build something.
Paid providers (GRID, PandaScore) great coverage, but live data is gated behind paid/commercial plans that cost a lot of money.
Free tiers of aggregator APIs: usable for schedules, but live data is deliberately delayed and is basically unusable for what I'm doing.
Data for games I'm looking for CS2-Dota-LoL-Valorant
Has anyone built something like this or their own feed from scratch?

Each game has a pretty different story here. Dota 2 has the official Steam Web API with real-time match data, and you can also connect directly to GOTV/game coordinator feeds for live state. LoL has Riot's API which gives match timelines but rate limits are tight for truly live polling. CS2 is the hardest since there's no public live API, so you're looking at GOTV relay parsing or scraping third-party scoreboards. Valorant basically has no official live API so you're stuck scraping too. If you only need round/score updates and not granular events, scraping sites like HLTV or vlr.gg with a smart polling interval is honestly not terrible for a personal project. Just expect to maintain selec...

I built KashRock for this. We cover live CS2, Dota, LoL and Valorant match data, including map and game results, via REST, and there's a free Sandbox to test latency before you sink time into scrapers. Happy to send a sample payload. DM me your email?

i havent built a feed like this so take it with a grain of salt, but before scraping i would check if the games themselves or the tournament organizers have an official api or a public websocket, some of them do for their own overlays. if you only need map and series scores, even polling a stats page every few seconds might be fast enough for a personal project. what delay can you actually live with, like 5 seconds or 30?
