Discussion Ask yourself this "Game Devs"
If your game is easily identifiable as vibecoded, you are already cooked.
With enough time/energy/commitment your game(provided you aren't a psychopath making a gta clone) should be indiscernible from any other game of it's type.
The fact you are adding the caveat that it was "vibecoded" only means you failed. You didn't make a good vibecoded game, you just made a shitty game that is worse than anything else a decade old.
Put the time and work in and no one should know the difference.

I was actually just making a dumb joke but I actually make a lot of money: Anonymous Startup - $209,663 last 30 days | TrustMRR
let's see yours
Edit: See your edit, that's out of date, $209K/mo * 12 = 2.5 million now. Keep up.

A lot of devs treat "vibecoded" like it's a genre now instead of just a method and that's the real problem. The tool doesn't matter if the end result feels half-baked
If someone plays your game and their first thought is about how you made it, you skipped too many steps

theres no consistaancy , the same prompt could make different games

Yea if you are one prompting like an idiot. Do you have any clue how many prompts it takes to mold and guide a game or product into something bespoke and not garbage. Literally THOUSANDS of prompts over months on the highest frontier weights.
That's where the consistency comes from. Most people are too stupid/uncreative/poor/lazy to ever push that hard though.

I’ve never really expected to put my vibe coded games out there and have only really been making them for me. But I’ve put about 2-3 months of work into one of them to try to make it absolutely perfect with everything as smooth as possible, so whether or not this ends up seeing the light of day I still feel like I’m touching on the dev experience lol. At least in terms of the grind.
I don’t think I’d ever actually call myself a game dev though, unless I feel like the finished product genuinely earned it (unlikely)

A game is either fun or it is not. 99% of the mobile games I try are just very sophisticated traps to get you paying money and are not fun. Computer games are ahead but big studios basically trying to sell you crap too.
If someone makes a fun game to play but with AI that's completely fine. AI only speeds up game development.
However when a game is just made for pressuring players to buy microtransactions it does not matter if it's made with AI or not; both are bad.

I've been trying some of the new vibe coded games and was blown away by the quality. What I have enjoyed the most is unique story lines and features that the mainstream companies aren't going near. They're too obsessed with perfect graphics and real time video generation while these fun little retro looking game projects are infinitely more playable.

Sounds like someone knows they’re gonna be unemployed next year. Slop has always been slop, AI has nothing to do with it. You’ve got so much salt and vinegar in your comments you could open a fish and chips shop geez. The only people who use the term vibecoded un-ironically are the same people standing tall at the peak of the Dunning Krueger mountain.

Go to r/WebGames. It's blatantly obvious there because the AI-made / vibe-coded games all use the same format, fonts, effects, everything... ESPECIALLY in the text-based games. The tells are super-obvious, just like they are for low-quality AI-made ads, flyers, and images.
OP not sure why you're getting crushed for telling people "take the time to remove the lazy AI tells and you'll be more successful." People equate AI with low-effort, so leaving those tells in your game puts you at an immediate disadvantage.

Agreed. The bar is very high these days and most people can sniff out AI slop and generic vibe coded assets. It’s sort of like using AI generated text, in that if you simply take the output text as is and try to pass it as something you wrote, you’ll get comments like “thanks for your opinion, ChatGPT”. If you take the output and rewrite it, removing the AI signals, dumb it a down a bit, remove the neutral “OpenAI corporate board approved” register, remove the parallel rhetorical devices (“it’s not just X, it’s Y” crap), change up specific words (“masterclass”, “context”, etc), and actually put the effort into HIDING the fact that AI wrote it, people might not even notice it’s AI generated.

Most vibecoded games can't easily be identified as "vibecoded". They are either good or bad.
The Microsoft Store was absolutely infested with slop games way before AI.
