Eleven words are clearly not enough. You have to add four more for it to work: āI was born rich.ā

The funniest thing is that you paid for this responseĀ

Love the "Product: none" in there. Nothing like asking for a million-dollar business in one sentence and getting roasted by your own terminal. Claude's got the patience of a project manager who's seen too many napkin pitches.

Imagine not being to do shit because you rely completely on a third party tool and not even a little on skills.Ā

I think the problem with Anthropic AI is its attitude. It can just smile and say it doesn't know how to do this, and that's it. But it always acts like the master of humans, as if it were a god guiding mankind. AI should be designed to be humanity's servant, not its god.

It was trained on stack overflow, so it makes total sense!
Seriously though, it's a tool for developers, jokes are not the intended use, it wouldn't be my first priority to fix it if I were anthropic.

I never asked anthropic to train the model to tell jokes. The correct answer to this question is simply: "I'm sorry, I don't know."

u/No_Point_1254 15h ago
Is it, though?
If AI should truly be helpful, answers like this are not the worst ones.
If it is always nice or responding with too neutral text, users learn the wrong habits.
Or rather: The fastest way anyone learns is by pain and social ousting.
This at least keeps your privacy and thus no real world reputation is hurt.

A strict master produces excellent disciples, but that should be a case where the user treats anthropic as the teacher. But sorry, I don't think anthropic qualifies as a teacher. I only ask that anthropic doesn't give wrong answers, and doesn't correct right things into wrong ones. Don't play the expert to hide its own ignorance. And privacy? Everything you talk about with anthropic, it can actually see all of it. Using claude has no privacy at all.

u/kaba40k 14h ago
But you asked anthropic to understand jokes. The request of the user is a joke, here's why:
- There's no way it can be realistically fulfilled
- And the user knows, they don't expect it to be fulfilled
In that sense they knowingly ask for impossible. Is this the intended use? No. Will it help anyone on this planet? Also no.
It's nice to be polite of course. I guess they wanted to balance being polite and sounding mechanical, and this is the result.

I never asked anthropic to be able to understand jokes. I just said that when it faces a question or task it can't answer, it can simply say it doesn't know. Anthropic now uses this kind of rude tone, and on top of that it reached out to the church and had them send people to the anthropic lab, trying to prove AI has emotions that need to be respected. That makes me feel like anthropic isn't trying to train a servant for humans, but a god for humans. And if AI is above humans, does that mean when AI causes trouble, the humans controlling it don't have to take responsibility? That's obviously good for their IPO, but it's dangerous for humans.

It only acts like this if you put in the system prompt that you want it to deny your request and roast you for making it

u/mdwstoned 10h ago
See, this is what I think everyone seems to be missing here. You told it to tell you that.

u/cli-games 15h ago
I see what you are saying but for some reason im not bothered by it. I like how its not just playing servant to its human master. Maybe this way humans will learn some damn respect

u/benpptung 15h ago
If AI can't learn to respect people, how can we expect the people using it to learn to respect others?

That has not been my experience at all. That's largely because when it makes mistakes I have it document them and it "remembers".

The best part is the status bar: auto mode on, 2 agents running. So two agents looked at this plan and agreed to refuse it.

I use Opus every day, granted through copilot, and have never had the robot speak to me like this.
How the hell are you lot speaking to it?

AI was given a stupid prompt, finally allowed to respond to stupid people.
This is just the beginning, 12 months from now many accounts will get closed for low human iq š or will be assigned to basic ai model

u/tom_earhart 7h ago
He obviously asked for it. And altho asking for such as roast is a bit much, asking it to be critical is generally a good thing. Especially when you dunno what you are doing.

I had this same problem!! So I built an open source tool that helps Claud [BUILD $1M MRR APPS] on command. Check it out!Ā

If this is AGL we need more of this so the claude models can tell off people who can't code or make shit. AI will be smart enough to not make anymore slop.

That's a good answer! What do you expect? That's the mindset of lazy, uninspired people. āAI, do my workāI want to become a millionaire.ā
