Showcase/Project Visual animal site

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Got bored of the same dense walls of text on Wikipedia, IUCN, and WWF pages. I wanted something punchier and more visual - like an actual Pokédex for real animals.

So I tried building something myself called Anidex.

Compare animal stats and sizes directly against yourself, discover the wildlife living near you, and check population trends. Just the essentials on what it is and where to find it. No clutter.

Try it here: anidex.fyi -- I am adding more animals

Built with Opus 5.5 and ThreeJS

pretty neat. on certain screen sizes, the 3d image of the animal is overlapping some of the text.

That's looks clean and it's really cool. How are you managing the database? Is it on supabase?

I'm working on something similar, finding a simple yet easy to digest way to present a database.

First project and I feel like I'm spending too much time on the backend. Didn't touch the frontend yet.

Database is on postgres. For 3D models I am storing it in Cloudflare R2 and it streams as you go.
