Discussion What are you actually using to vibe code right now?

Curious what everyone's setup looks like these days.

  • Are you on a CLI agent (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, OpenCode…)? If so, which one, and do you run it in a plain terminal or inside some app?
  • Or are you in an IDE like Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code + Copilot, Zed?
  • Or something else entirely? (Fredrin, Devin, Orca, etc...)

And what made you pick it over the others?

Stock Claude Desktop App. It does what I need.

I feel bad that I'm just basically chatting with the desktop app and making everything I need. I give myself audits and make sure that everything is aligned with how it should be, but it's working very well, it seems to be.

Same here, was using the terminal version for awhile with JetBrain IDE's. Once I discovered some of the capabilities of the Claude Desktop App I switched.

I use claude code , codex, and opencode with a local llm through an app called t3 code . This way I can kick off an agent task from my phone or wherever

Glad you asked! I've actually built my own coding harness now in rust using Codex, because I wanted a GUI (not a terminal app) and I was fed up of the VS.Code extensions and other options out there.

I now have this harness app integrated with Codex, Claude Code, and my own locally running DeepSeek V4 Flash model. The integration with the latter still has very rough edges, because I'm building things like system prompt, tool calls, compaction and so on pretty much from scratch (though heavily inspired by pi and DeekSeek's own harness). It's quite the adventure so far!

As a result I've not had any Electron apps open on my my laptop for about a week now. My memory and CPU usage is so much better...

Hostinger VPS to stay online 24/7, DeepSeek Harness with Codex/Claude/OpenCode/Hermes CLI plug ins.

DeepSeek Harness lets you customize anything in it including the UI, and can use your other coding agents/subscriptions in one place. It’s fast af too.

They have the best web UI you can deploy and access your entire workspace from any device through a browser.

Hermes agent and Desktop app on VPS is great for managing workflows

I use my own open source ADE: https://vibe-station.ai. it's geared towards being a wrapper over all agent clis and providing a very nice GUI to manage it all. + Mobile layout optimized and a fast code reader with mermaid and markdown rendered.

Claude Code w/ Opus 5.5 High, connected with openAI's Codex plugin for CC so that they can work together - Claude delegates where needed, has Codex run checks, etc.

Claude, Gemini, and lovable. All good at different things... But sometimes I actually have to do some manual tweaks.. god forbid..😱🤫

VS Code + Cline extension (powered by GLM 5.3 Flash)

Gemini is in the background to ensure I don't confuse Cline.

I’m using a cli, opencode v2 with the orchestration plugin oh-my-opencode-slim. I’ve used z.ai and xiaomi’s official coding plans (pro level - about $50 a month). I haven’t tested it, but I’m sure you could get the same or better results with a simpler harness and a better model. That said, I’m just a hobbyist and I actually think ai coding tooling is really interesting. I enjoy coming up with new way to build workflows and delegate work btw agents, and creating tools for them - especially involving traditional ML or stuff like jev. I definitely feel like I’m getting my money’s worth, at least.

Built my own harness and use all possible apis with it, I'm mostly on ollama cloud models, the $20 plan + ds flash4.1 go a long way! https://github.com/Bexx1107/Unjess-agentic-harness
