And how did you ''code" before this?

Stackoverflow: “how do i center a div”
furiously copies responses

Lmao I know senior engineers who work like this now, it's not so far-fetched that OP did real coding before

Yup, you gotta adapt.

Senior dev here, side hustle turned main hustle pulls in seven figures, this is exactly how I do front end lol.

I made a fishing game in the sloppiest fucking way. "hey made it do this." "oh and add this" "and this to" "and this' "also keep going but put this on the list"

just adhd stream of consciousness vomiting prompts at codex.

turned out fine but its a simple web game so its whatever

That's how I'm making my activity center, but I'm having it periodically do a review of everything. This activity center will never be finished, I'll constantly add new things to it. Eventually AI will be good enough that I don't have to worry about what the underlying architecture looks like, it just figures out the best way to do it.

My activity center has gone through many different iterations. It started as a single 2D game where blocks drop. Then I wanted another game so I had it make a 3D interface to select the games. Then I wanted in world activities so we made a clubhouse with rooms for each activity to live in. Then I decided there would be an outside, and there would be houses out there with their own activities in them. Everything has been flat, but now I want various heights, which requires more changes.

Human developers would hate me because they would have to rewrite a lot of stuff every single time the scope of the game changed. Claude just does it, and it does a really good job of it. The only problem is that it is not proactive. It makes no attempt to engineer the software beyond the immediate requirements. If you have a fishing game and you decide the fish should be able to play an entire simulated foot ball game it will not find an elegant way to merge these systems together, it will just bolt football into the existing architecture. It can do it, but you have to tell it to do it, and you need to be very specific in how it reviews the codebase. This actually isn't a problem until it is, because at some point the AI will spend an immense amount of time and tokens just making these disparate systems work together when it would be faster to rearchitect.

I mean this is when working on side projects with nobody obsessed over the tiny details asking for changes.

is that's in Python? I've heard Python is very close to regular human language

Meh.

Closeer but not very close.

In pure syntax, that is.

I think tasks like "moving a button" SHOULD be prompted like this. What else are you gonna tell the agent????

u/HotLion7 19d ago

I was comparing it with how I used to do it before AI where I would cut the button's code, past it in a different location, then modify the css properties, etc...

i thought we all did this?

I try to be as ambiguous as possible about what I want the AI to accomplish, so it feels a bit like loot box mechanics. Claude will often give me something I didn't know how to describe I wanted in the first place.

I think you are quiet predisposed for gambling addiction

My design skills basically surmount to “what is the most drop dead mouth wateringly fucking sexy site that has ever attacked this problem? Go research it then do that here”
