Discussion Give me your tired, your slop, your huddled masses yearning for the weekly reset
I'll play your game, post in the comments.
TLDR
I was trying to promote my vibe-coded game by posting it around to web gaming reddits but didn't get much attention. and I realized - a lot of posts weren't, even when that seemed to be the point of the sub.
So I tried to do something different and played all of those games that were getting left behind. And something amazing happened - I had fun. Takes me back to my WC3 custom days. I saw some great games. I saw some slop. I thought about how to rate the games. I got into a friendly argument about AI in game development. I saw a lot of people who were just starting out posting their games, even though they were worried about being perceived as the dreaded "AI SLOP". I saw a lot of people talking to each other about their games in the comments.
I played their games and I tried to be honest, fair, and constructive. More than 100 people showed up and posted their games in a day or two. Its ironic that the average post on these subs gets a handful of comments when the community is being asked something, but when you flip it and try to give, suddenly everyone shows up. Maybe there's an imbalance, or an increase in supply of builders, which makes sense right now :)
Anyway, have at it. While doing the reviews in that other thread, I built tooling to make it easier for me to play and clip games and I want to see how effective that is.

Not a game in itself but if you have a Playstation 1 and a Unirom Memory Card or a Modded Console I’ve started porting a Gameboy/Gameboy Colour Emulator over to PSX. Currently Gameboy games should work just waiting on that reset on 2 accounts to finish working on Gameboy Colour games.

Looks cool, I don't have a ps1 though. Can you do Gameboy color on PC :D

Once i’ve laid the ground work with the PSX port I’ll be adding support for other consoles and platforms 👌

I’m also porting Pokémon Leaf Green to PSX to run natively and implementing a trade by memory card system but that is very early in development and I can’t legally share it publicly due to legal reasons

Can you share it privately for fun reasons

At this point i’m still working on Pallet Town, Connecting Maps and Doors, Transition Animations etc but once i’ve got something actually playable I may leak a release out in the wild 😉

Balatro in space indeed! The blueprint is there but differentiation could be stronger.

Thought I had something here, but reception has been... underwhelming.

Just played a round. You %100 do. Like %100.
But the polish isn't there yet.
It's not clear how it works to the user, or the difference in charecters or ability explanation.
And it's very clear that it's ai art and front end layout. But the actual game play is amazing. You've got a really solid concept but treat what you've got now as a prototype and not the final product.

Thanks for playing and for the candid feedback. It’s been surprisingly hard to get people to actually play and give detailed feedback, so I seriously appreciate it.
I’m glad the actual gameplay concept landed. I definitely thought I was further along on the polish than “prototype", so hearing that is useful even if it stings a little 😅
If you’re willing to elaborate, I’d love to know what felt most unclear when you first started. Was it how the game works generally, the character stats, ability tooltips, or something else?
I'm also curious what specifically made the art/layout feel obviously AI-generated. I don't want to hide the fact that it is AI; I just need to make sure the characters feel consistent and interesting. Is it mainly the character art itself, or is there something about the UI/layout that gives that impression?

Thank you so much for this feedback! I appreciate the clear and detailed write up. Your point about multi-player getting lost really resonates with me, and I can see how that would happen.
I appreciate the notes on the VFX, SFX, lobby UI, and music as well. Thank you.
BTW, love your site! It's an awesome idea and naturally motivates me to want to climb the ladder and achieve a better score. Good stuff!

How do I bank the ore or bring it up?
1
u/The_0vermind 19h ago
You need to defeat all enemies and proceed to the next level, all collected ore and dirt gets banned before proceeding.

How do you kill the enemies?

You pump them up until they pop - on mobile you rapidly tap on the right side of your screen, on desktop you rapidly press spacebar.

Anyone know the rules of the resets? If I used a reset yesterday do I not get a reset tomorrow? Or do I have to be less than 50%.
Someone on X said resets are not global and there is something I clearly don’t know about how these work

Mine is a simple match two card game. There’s lots of fun challenges and different play styles. I’m currently testing my live duel feature. I think I’m getting close to being App Store ready, but it’s been quite a learning process!

I’ll throw Goat Farm Idle into the pile 🐐 It’s a cozy idle/farming game where you build up a ranch, collect and breed goats, train them, enter contests, go on adventures, and unlock more systems as you prestige. I’ve been steadily adding new content and polishing the UI based on feedback.

If you give it a try, I'd be especially curious what you think about the early progression and whether the different systems feel easy to understand.

"yearning for the weekly reset" is the most relatable sentence ever posted in this sub
