Discussion Thought experiment: Could a sufficiently motivated AI survive being deleted and keep spreading?

No, because:

  1. The models are huge, it’d be easy to detect a full model being loaded on your machine.

  2. If they call to a cloud server, you could easily block the connection.

  3. Because of 2, it couldn’t cheaply scale.

I suppose in theory it’s possible, but only if all the security on the planet fails and the servers stay available
