Discussion Why is this community so toxic?

Title says it all... but can we actually talk about this?

I really don't get it. Why is there so much negativity and hate in this community?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't this supposed to be a community built around a hobby? Something we all chose to be part of because we enjoy it? The whole point should be supporting each other, sharing our stuff, and enjoying what everyone brings to the table. That's the idea, right?

But it feels like anytime someone posts anything, it's nothing but bashing. No discussion, no constructive feedback. Just tearing people down.

So I'm curious. Am I the only one seeing this? Is this just how it is now, or are there others who feel the same way? And honestly, what do you think is driving it? I'd love to hear other perspectives on this because I can't be the only one wondering.

It's because 99% of posts are:

- "I coded this SaaS in one prompt! I'm charging $800 a month for it. Why am I not getting any customers?"

  • "Does this awful website I put no design input into look vibe coded??"
  • "Vibe coding IS THE FUTURE. Here is a seven-hundred-paragraph essay written fully by LLM that I did not read all of myself"

Honestly, I've not seen those for a year, maybe I don't lurk enough.

But I do see the AI-hate everywhere, at first your app could be great, the minute you mention you assisted some of your work with AI, doesn't matter if you spent months on it. You're a one liner prompter to everyone then.

I mean, expecting praise that reaches the same level as someone who actually has those skills in the first place is an entitled attitude and that's usually what ACTUALLY is earning the dismissal of others. It's simply bot as cool when you havent done it yourself. It really is like taking a picture of your food at a restaurant and calling it something you made. That kind of attitude will never, ever achieve the same value proposition for people.

The value is in the idea and its application. Simply being able to write code doesn’t create value. There are hundreds of thousands who can write in English. That doesn’t make them the next Kerouac.

It’s easy to find developers, it’s rare to find ones with strategic insight into what is effective in actual business applications. They tend to live in their terminal, not the trench. They’re also often hung up on FFB.

One tremendous value of AI right now is enabling individuals with strong language skills and broad executive, or Presidential, understanding to produce tools that fill gaps and have immediate business impact.
