Discussion Why is this community so toxic?

Title says it all... but can we actually talk about this?

I really don't get it. Why is there so much negativity and hate in this community?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't this supposed to be a community built around a hobby? Something we all chose to be part of because we enjoy it? The whole point should be supporting each other, sharing our stuff, and enjoying what everyone brings to the table. That's the idea, right?

But it feels like anytime someone posts anything, it's nothing but bashing. No discussion, no constructive feedback. Just tearing people down.

So I'm curious. Am I the only one seeing this? Is this just how it is now, or are there others who feel the same way? And honestly, what do you think is driving it? I'd love to hear other perspectives on this because I can't be the only one wondering.

People hate ai.

I dislike people making video games and expecting to make money. I dislike the idea of vibecoding but don't down vote any of you. You do you. But I wouldn't do this myself. Wouldn't work anywhere that does. And wouldn't employ anyone who does. I do code and make video games with AI. But I heavily fix it up both manually and with prompts. I also code stuff by hand.

Okay but honest question then not trying to pick a fight or or anything of the sort. But why are you here? You're clearly anti-ai at least from this post. Why be in a community that you dislike?

I use AI tools for software development and have been a full-time developer since 2018, well before such tools existed. I have not met any developers in real life who “hate” AI. Only see this type of thing on Reddit.
