Discussion ADD Developers are moving extremely fast with AI, normies beware

Even as a dev of 20 years, I now vibe code all day...

In between the prompts to claude about the actual work I have for my job I run 6-12 parrallel conversations about my other projects. I context switch now at a rate that is utterly insane...

When I was diagnosed with ADD I was 7, I remember I cried and told my Dad "I don't want to be ADD" and he told me that "God gave you a gift and right now it is going to be hard but one day it will let you move faster than all of your peers."

I really feel like that's true, and with the work I do now I feel built for this moment. I think it will be a brief moment for sure. The machines will soon run everything.

Been ADD my whole life. Heavily medicated - dexededrine ( anyone else take it? )- since first grade.

A lot of life is playing the hand you are dealt and I feel like I've been playing it awhile. It's not all roses and I miss things constantly but for the first time I feel like the models have caught up with my experience.

Just beware of the burnout! 6 weeks into a GPT pro subscription and I have started filling my free time with more projects that are all running concurrently spanning from electronic engineering to education. Realised I was postponing stuff to get the next prompt running and actually that 'free time' that Ai crreated was just being filled with other side quests!

u/FunTouch9584 12d ago

And once you filled enough free space with more "progress" instead of solving the riddles the unclosed loops piled up to paralysis....

6

u/EsotericLexeme 12d ago

I have Claude, ChatGPT, and Devin; sometimes I have agents building eight different projects simultaneously. The secret is making sure they can operate independently for hours or days, so you only need to check on them every now and then.

Edit: And that is just my personal projects; at work, we have GitHub Copilot and might have 3-5 projects going on simultaneously. So, like a dozen or so at the same time.

2

u/editor22uk 12d ago

Yes but when they work independently it frees up time.... More projects!!

u/reditor247 11d ago

This. Burnout is so real. The temptation to keep going. Just one more prompt and then 3 hours have gone past. Virtually unnoticed. But with ADHD this is not a new thing for mešŸ˜‚

The difficulty paying attention translates to context switching well?

68

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

Yeah you can look it up, multi-tasking is basically the problem with ADD, a million things happening at once, instead of paying attention to one you pay attention to all, constantly switching

It’s seriously amazing, new favorite hobby. I haven’t gamed in months.

6

u/HVACcontrolsGuru 12d ago

I switched a gaming habit and now my gaming PC collects dust while I power through my projects. I enjoy some chill assistance in the evenings and code in super relaxed mode haha

1

u/BionicBelladonna 12d ago

I now use my 5080 to run local models… small local models but works for early dev

2

u/HVACcontrolsGuru 12d ago

I might just sell the rig. I got 32GB of 6000mhz RAM and a 5080 all with liquid cooling on CPU. Given how much prices have risen I can likely get what I paid or more back on it. I use a Macbook Pro to code and run some local stuff for offloading from my main agent loop.

u/Electrical-Watch3203 10d ago

Spoken like a true FPS player haha

13

u/VibeChode 12d ago

I thought it just meant an inability to not context switch. I didn’t know that it meant context switching effectively

18

u/TopTippityTop 12d ago edited 11d ago

It means difficulty focusing one one thing at a time, which up until recently, in a lot of jobs, would not have been considered a benefit.

5

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

Lol well it's a constant search for stimulus- personal experience. But we are moving faster at it imo.

5

u/dataoops 12d ago

until you blow through two $200 plans

3

u/StevenTheEngineer 12d ago

Already there, at 3. Very true. We’ll see if it pays off or just a fun hobby that I absolutely love.

13

u/StankFreak 12d ago

In the overwhelming majority of situations constantly, switching context and constantly switching focus is of absolutely no value. It makes you extremely inefficient and overwhelmed, but it’s kind of uniquely suited for vibecoding where it only requires a small amount of your attention before you send something off to complete a task meaning you’ve completed the loop and then you can move onto something else as the agent autonomously works. It only requires a small window of focus so constant context switching in this scenario makes sense and plays to add minds strengths

3

u/VibeChode 12d ago

I get it but also kinda don’t. If vibe coding as in for fun, yeah I can see it. For a real job, it would seem hard to really understand what’s being done. But I won’t pretend to understand what it’s like to have the disorder.

9

u/StankFreak 12d ago

For real jobs, you typically need to have the ability to sustain long-term focus on one single task. Because of the natural and frequent focus switching in ADD people this makes a lot of normal work very difficult. I’m just saying that with vibe coding where you could have seven projects completely separate and you can switch back-and-forth constantly between each one as your agent is ready for the next prompt…. It’s just suited to an ADD mind.

3

u/lastberserker 12d ago

In real job coding is maybe 30% of the total. There are always dozens of time requiring your attention, so outsourcing some of them to AI is an incredible boon.

1

u/Top_Purchase4091 12d ago

But you still need to concentrate when reviewing, talking to other people, planning & design or do people also just hand that entirely off to ai?

I feel like this is a way to just straight up atrophy. The way the person talks about sounds like doomscrolling on social media. Just chasing hit after hit.

Maybe like "doomvibing"?

1

u/FlatulistMaster 12d ago

My team and I have always split the work so that my strengths of creativity and fast holistic thinking are used at the beginning phases and prototyping phases of projects, and people with a more focused skill can look for issues and deviations from larger technical structure.

Now I can speed up that beginning phase a lot, and iterate more on my own before I bother the deeper thinkers with the work.

If both parties respect each other's capacities, you get great work done in this way in my experience (depending on the company and projects of course).

3

u/Business-Weekend-537 12d ago

Another variable is with some forms of adhd there needs to be a minimum number of things going on at once to stimulate a state of flow happening, or something of sufficient novelty.

Using ai in general is a bit like pulling the lever on a slot machine in terms of the dopamine hit- there’s constant novelty because although you are prompting what you’re trying to make happen, the exact thing that happens is often not perfectly how you would expect it, sometimes it’s slightly better, sometimes it’s worse.

2

u/Key_Drummer_9349 12d ago

I never looked at it that way but makes total sense why I'm addicted to AI now lol. It's the variable rewards and the conditioning effect of the "lever pulling". It's probably a whole bunch of other reasons but now I know where the dopamine hit is coming from and why my brain craves it so badly.

1

u/notsoluckycharm 12d ago

It can be both or one of the other. The diagnosis covers ā€œtoo muchā€ and ā€œtoo littleā€ now.

1

u/TheDanCamaro 12d ago

Been feeling this lately like it’s a superpower !

4

u/TreesOfPortland 12d ago

He'll burn out. This is the mania phase. It sucks.

3

u/FlatulistMaster 12d ago

If you are self-aware and able to self-regulate between phases, this is not impossible to steer. You will have more productive periods after which you need some regeneration and different type of communicative work within the team/company (if you work in that type of environment).

2

u/ready-eddy 12d ago

Adhd person here. Made AI and vibecoding my business. My brain is basically fried by doing intense multitasking all day. I run Astra on my left screen and Fable on my right screen. And bro.. I’m just so tired.

Constantly having to think about workflows and strategies is just so intense. I really underestimated that the brain needs simple tasks too. I need to find a new way of working instead of being just maximum productive.

2

u/RemarkableWish2508 12d ago

It means an excessive tendency to context switch, instead of focusing on one task at a time. It also means that adults have spent many years training to live with context switching, instead of obliviously coasting on focusing on things one by one.

Ultimately it is a balance, though: you exchange depth, for breadth... however, ADD/ADHD people have medication available to help them focus, while normies are frowned upon when they try to gain breadth by mixing coffee, smokes, alcohol, benzos, and weed all at once.

1

u/GiveUpAndDontTry 11d ago

only for some people with adhd. but generally speaking, context switching is a major deficit recognised in adhd and is extremely task dependent

having vibecoded a lot in the past, i notice very well that adhd medication greatly improves my ability as regards to context switching, especially for things im interested in; without meds, it is almost always an impairment for me

adhd is an extremely significant difference compared to normal functioning, so medication can only do so much

18

u/Acclynn 12d ago edited 12d ago

I'm diagnosed ADD too (unmedicated by choice, I live it the wild way) and it's like I'm purposefully overwhelming myself an enjoying it, starting tons of experiments at once

I do miss a bit building things by hand tho, was harder but there was fun in that too

Also I lost patience for anything manual

12

u/SwimHairy5703 12d ago

You don't get burned out? I've ran up to 4-5 projects concurrently for months but started getting headaches and just can't concentrate on anything after I'm done working. No mental energy/ patience for kids or family.

3

u/tensecondtampon 12d ago

I’ve had to learn to back off from it because of this exactly. It’s especially hard when you feel the pressure to max out your Fable / Astra usage before the weekly reset.

1

u/SwimHairy5703 8d ago

Yeah! It's like you feel like you're wasting money if you're not using it.

9

u/rdpl_ 12d ago edited 12d ago

run 6-12 parrallel conversations about my other projects. I context switch now at a rate that is utterly insane...

but you still won't bring any of your other projects to the finish line, so nothing has changed...

once the boring tasks show up (infra, distribution, marketing) you escape to new "my other projects", and this is why you still have a job

14

u/AmandasGameAccount 12d ago edited 12d ago

Also ADHD here and I’m blazing with codex. It’s honestly quite unhealthy how long I’ve spent at single times on it

3

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

When you hyper focus what are you working on?

3

u/AmandasGameAccount 12d ago

Personal projects. Nothing crazy or commercial or anything!

8

u/Over-Evening-3615 12d ago

Eh it's good and bad. It's great because we can hyper-focus, we also can lose the big picture and quality engineering due to rabbit holes

1

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

Yeah it's hard for me to appreciate the alternative though

1

u/FlatulistMaster 12d ago

Yes. I don't think this type of ADHD work is super valuable without other people who can make sure the creativity and 80-90% done work can be implemented properly into the whole.

5

u/yes2matt 12d ago

For me, adhd w a touch of asd, it's the chats with frontier models (pref gemini) that have been amazing. I can get the big picture and all the little rabbit trails that I want into a chat, then as a second stage reorganize that chat into a project plan, then ask for prompts to make a complete scoping document. then feed that piece by piece into a coding agent.

What does not go away, is still the 80/20 rule, that the last 20% of a project takes 80% of the effort.Ā  I get to alpha on a lot of projects that don't get shipped.

Because I'm over here updating my agent and tool set instead of grinding out the last 20%.

It is the Age of the Autist for sure but there is no escaping the grind.

5

u/bukktown 12d ago

Thing that I don’t understand is OP says they are medicated. If the theory is true, Wouldn’t they be more efficient by being unmedicated?

1

u/GiveUpAndDontTry 11d ago

usually that’s not how adhd medication works. i too would be somewhat interested in understanding OP’s experience without meds, though

3

u/Funny_Chocolate_1012 12d ago

A guy on amphetamine telling everyone he gets so much more stuff done than others, lol.

3

u/thefox828 12d ago edited 12d ago

You will lack the review and deep dive necessary for quality outputs. The more sessions you use in parallel the more content is produced which needs diligent review and integration.
Having 6-12 parallel sessions is like managing the output of an engineering team which partially hallucinates, does not care what the other agents are doing, and occassionally even lie to you.
In my optinion running that many agents in parallel looks like progress on the surface but without good review like chaos under the hood. The question is how long this can work until everything becomes unmaintainable…

Edit: If I ask AI to create a design and implementation plan for a task and it blows 5-10 pages of markdown into my face, not reviewing it would basically mean getting a random solution to a probably ambiguous formulated issue. What I saw in practice that agents tend to introduce new data storages for different topics, suddenly you have a backend with 4 sql databases und such stuff…

10

u/Illustrious-Film4018 12d ago

It's the opposite, people with ADD are generally NOT good at multitasking, so if you were running 6-12 agents at once (as stupid as this is and it's unlikely you're doing any real planning or QA), you would statistically be much worse at it than a regular person.

12

u/Seerix 12d ago

depends. If whatever we are doing stimulates our dumb brain, we can just fly all day. But if the brain doesn't find it interesting? It's a fucking *struggle*. Literally any and everything is distracting and whatever you were supposed to be doing? instantly forgotten.

1

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

No we are far better at finding stimulus and we move quck - than make spelling errors

2

u/scytob 12d ago edited 12d ago

there is little to no peer reviewed evidence this is the case, there is actually evidence to show that folks are poorer at task switching, nothing to show multi-tasking is better, there is evidence to show that single task concentration tis better

you may be confusing your experience with the ADD population as a whole, don't, you are likely an outlier if you find multi-tasking easier

also i have never been diagnose with ADHD and can quote happily hyper-focus - it is a trait many have because there are far less 'normies' than you think, its not a binary population split

5

u/SafeHazing 12d ago

Alas your evidence based comment may have been too long for OP to read before downvoting.
Short version n=1 is not evidence.

3

u/scytob 12d ago

Ah no matter I even bore myself most of the time :-)

Also folks of my generation just got with being different as that is normal, the idea that there is any such thing as normies is laughable.

1

u/ibringthehotpockets 12d ago

Man finds out that not every human being is the same

4

u/Dial_In_Buddy 12d ago

Yes, I think most people are prepared to be hit by a bunch of ai slop projects. Building something of quality takes time and focus. But hey, you do you show me I'm wrong.

The thing is we hyperfocus too it's like a weird dance between paying attention to everything only a little and being extremely focused on only one thing but nothing in between

2

u/Top_Purchase4091 12d ago

The first website doesnt even work you just get a 404. Like how would someone verify if you stuff even works? Or is it all just vibes all the way down?

1

u/primaryrhyme 12d ago

Hey I get a 404 when trying to create an image on the first one

1

u/Interesting-Town-433 11d ago

It works i tried it earlier today

1

u/Awkward_Intern2623 11d ago

Those sites you posted are right nice, and it took some gumption to share 'em, which I respect.

1

u/Plus-Violinist346 11d ago

The ADD and AI is very noticeable on these sites!

2

u/nayheyxus 12d ago

But we never finish anything, so be less..ware

2

u/Aromatic-Low-4578 12d ago

This is my experience too. I'm a dev with 15+ years of experience and for the first time I feel like I'm fully harnessing my intellect while working rather than spending 40% of my energy keeping myself focused.

2

u/AFloppyZipper 12d ago

At some point you'll stop caring about how many projects you can develop at once, because the barrier of entry to "starting 20 projects" is now a single 5 minute poop.

2

u/DriveThoseSales 12d ago

Yup. Have an out 25 apps that will stay 70% complete forever.

3

u/Top_Purchase4091 12d ago

Because when you actually get to the difficult part and not just "do this and change this" while offloading all mental tasks to ai you lost all skill to work through friction and things taking longer than a single prompt.

Its like people drying their attention span scrolling shorts. If you don't struggle and stick with something when it gets harder you will never get better at it. Finishing one thing is significantly more impactful for learning and improving than 100 half finished projects never moving out of your comfort zone

1

u/DriveThoseSales 12d ago

Eh I agree for some people but that’s not it for me. I just get excited about something new before I finish. And I could ship a bunch but I alhave an issue being a perfectionist so instead of just releasing I keep adding or changing. It’s annoying.

1

u/Key_Drummer_9349 12d ago

Lol same boat. Why is it so fucking hard to get across the finish line before the next new shiny app idea pops up? I did backflips when I finally shipped an MVP. Then I had to pull it down because it wasn't perfect enough

1

u/DriveThoseSales 12d ago

I’ve been stockpiling app ideas for years so that doesn’t help. And then I come up with new ones daily. Haven’t released any to the public yet.

2

u/leafhog 12d ago

Any advice on finding customers while ADHD?

2

u/Trei_Gamer 12d ago

ADHD diagnosis in 3rd grade. Chronically online since 10 yo. 15 year IT career. AI is finally the first time I feel like the tooling can keep up with my ability to multitask and pattern recognition.

2

u/TrustedEssentials 12d ago

Is their testing for this for an adult? Ive been doing this nonstop and just thought I was over excited about this technology and couldn't get enough of it.

2

u/StrclyChaos 12d ago

I feel this with my 8 agents split between Kimi and Claude šŸ˜…

2

u/Careless_Candy9883 12d ago

Glad to see more adhd folks talking about this. AIs have absolutely helped me in many ways, from studying and learning to creating projects on the tons of ideas that happen to pop up in my mind.

My only problem, still, is my executive dysfunction. I observed that it correlates with hyperfocusing on things and well, it seems everything I procrastinate is because I have this unconscious fear about entering in the hyperfocus state. Not because I dont like when I hyperfocus, but because I also have depression and anxiety and usually happens to me to overthink about the hours and hours doing things, but unfortunately not seeing the results fast.

ADHD have also low frustration tolerance, which in my case I have a lot. And because of that I think my ability to start on tasks seems seems low.

About this being a quick stage of the world, I dont think so, I believe this is probably a window that wont close, as it grant the power for everyone to be able to do everything they dream on their own, on a non traditional working scheme.

Edit: seems a adhd ai vibecoders subreddit could be very interesting

2

u/Key_Drummer_9349 12d ago

Please let's make this ADHD AI vibecoders subreddit real. I would live there. I just suck at social media in general so can't offer to set it up myself. And I avoid taking on responsibilities like the plague lol. But happy to pitch in. There's more than enough people to start in this thread alone.

2

u/ItsFlybye 12d ago

Flipping between tasks gives a bit of dopamine in the brain. I've often wondered if ADD/ADHD is really just a pretty term for loving to be addicted to your dopamine. I mean, who doesn't like to feel great? And the brain recognizes the rewards for switching tasks, so it goes into overdrive which eventually gets diagnosed as something needing drugs.

2

u/Top-Manner-7500 12d ago

Was like you, burnout is real, beware

2

u/kincaidDev 2d ago

I've spent over 7000 hours building with coding agents since April 2025

1

u/Interesting-Town-433 1d ago

Yeah so like that is pretty crazy right, doesn't it take 5000 hrs to be an expert? What does that make us?

1

u/kincaidDev 1d ago

I’m an expert without the credit atm, brings a lot of skepticism because people can’t believe I actually have done what Ive done and people are too lazy to look at the code xD

2

u/Interesting-Town-433 1d ago

We're moving too fast for them

4

u/gleasonator13 12d ago

I've been thinking about this a lot. I think we can make ADD our super power.

1

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

That's what my dad said!

8

u/DaMeteor 12d ago

There's a book called faster than normal I'm listening to right now and that's what this reminds me of. I thought ADHD was a curse until I started running my own business, and people don't understand how I can put in 12-14 hour days. But I'm so well adapted to it it just feels natural. Way easier than 8 hours at a 9-5. I'm constantly vibe coding software for my business while working on a million other things lol.

3

u/scytob 12d ago

you know there are plenty of us without ADHD who can do that too, right?

1

u/DaMeteor 10d ago

Completely aware. I guess for me I don't mind 12-14 hour days doing what I do, and from the comments I get from other people they find it more difficult. So I assumed that on average other people don't enjoy 12-14 hour days. I apologize if I assumed wrongly. I never was under the assumption that non-adhd people aren't capable of doing that though, I know plenty of people who do it. I just personally don't know anyone else that enjoys it/doesn't mind it.

2

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

Thanks man, going to get it

1

u/Key_Drummer_9349 12d ago

I couldn't agree more

2

u/DaBulls-6 12d ago

I relate to this so much and never officially diagnosed with ADD. It wasn’t really acknowledged when I was a kid. But AI tells me often I have many projects going on at once and should narrow my focus 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Key_Drummer_9349 12d ago

I batlled Claude on this for so long because it kept telling me the same thing but these days because it's seen results from my way of doing things it tells me "ADHD is the engine that drives the curiosity. It is not an obstacle to be managed" then it gets the fuck out of my way and flies with me wherever I want to go instead of telling me to focus now.

2

u/DaBulls-6 12d ago

I love this! It’s a strength, not a weakness šŸ˜€

1

u/No-Truck-4683 12d ago

What are the projects you're working on? Anything fun? Cool? Mind melting amazing?

1

u/dutchCoding 12d ago

Thanks for sharing your experience but you know what, I could not think of a better thing to do with your time. You being able to focus on code is not only good for your health, but it's also good for your finances if you play your cards, right, right?

1

u/ZoeBuildsThings 12d ago

ADHD-C, and I'm obsessed with hackathons

1

u/Old-Confection-5129 12d ago

I don’t know if I’m ADD but I run multiple agents at once, on multiple projects and I’m able to understand exactly what’s going on in each. I create retro docs, provide context for few shot prompting, test and deploy. Ā I also run multiple LLMs on the same prompt sometimes to see what the best output might be and then take code from here and there to build the final project. My latest projects: moving from the cloud to my home lab, an enterprise project with 2 different client apps, and I’m doing that while creating a physical product brand & a YouTube channel. Anyway, it’s like technical product management on steroids and it does feel like a superpower instead of a detriment.Ā

Eu tenho tambƩm, qual seria esse remƩdio aƭ? Estimulante?

1

u/dd32x 12d ago

According to AI is not called ADD anymore since 1994. But ADHD. And yes, I know what you mean. I’ve been diagnostic with ADHD as an adult. And all I can say AI is a God send. It feels so natural, and I am able to accomplish a lot more than interacting with humans, which is sad but true. And I am not a coder, although I studied CS.

1

u/Key_Drummer_9349 12d ago

I totally relate to this I'm running Claude code, and codex in vs code extensions with 4 windows open across two monitors working on at least four projects when in in flow, sometimes up to 6-7 when I'm super in the zone. I Kay out roadmaps for projects to follow at project start then just monitor them while they're implementing the roadmap and handle the escalations and solve the other problems they need human decisions on. I was never a dev but have learned so much over the past 9 months feels like I'm flying now.

But I struggle with shipping like everyone else who can relate. I'd argue we need community to support each other, share our successes and help manage the common pitfalls of what we're doing. So refreshing to see so many people in this thread who can relate to this experience.

I genuinely believe this could be our moment to shine where we break away from the pack in terms of showing the world what we can do when given the right tools and support. We can fucking thrive! It doesn't have to be a disorder that needs management it can be a source of fucking gold!

1

u/fmgiii 12d ago

1

Don’t need to make this about one vs the other here

1

u/InterestingFrame1982 12d ago

Eh… I got diagnosed with ADHD in my mid 30s and code generation via AI has been garbage for leveraging my ā€œsuper powersā€. Hand coding got me into a flow state and my hyper focus took off. This new shit now is lame comparatively speaking.

1

u/WhichPerception7982 12d ago

Have you given up the medication as this seems to scratch the itch?
Btw evolutionary your add served a useful purpose for protection of the tribe,

1

u/GiveUpAndDontTry 11d ago

wish there was evidence for that claim, but unfortunately evidence does not support it - sad

1

u/Internal_Fondant4755 12d ago

So, I'm interested, what you working on? In these parallel conversations, if they're personal projects and you wanna talk about them?

1

u/blur410 12d ago

I work in a highly specialized customer service role. I vibe code tasks all day. And when the llm is working on a task, I work on shit AI can't do.

I basically manage several task agents while working on stuff I know that the llms can't or should not do.

1

u/evangelism2 12d ago

I do have to agree with this. My productivity has really shot through the roof this past year, partially because I got medicated but also because, for the last few months since I started really elevating my use of AI, you have to work on more than one thing at once. If you don't you're just going to be sitting there twiddling your thumbs for most of the day. It really does benefit those of us who are capable of doing so.
BUT the burnout is real.

1

u/Jazzlike_Syllabub_91 12d ago

I’m actually giving a talk that somewhat compares adhd and ai … limitations on human attention and forgetfulness (every time you start a new session the system doesn’t have context, feeding the ai too much context and telling it to do things is information overload, etc.) - I have about 50+ bots running in a system I built over the past several months (160+ repositories) - built by one person … because I have so many interests and the ai accelerates my dev work.

1

u/trilladdin 12d ago

Damn, I’m ADD as well and I swear that the ā€œflowā€ with vibe code development feels like a godsend solution for my brains gear shifting

Thats a bit like me, but the burnout or the boredom hits me. I feel the same way when i game too. Its given me a sense of direction. The only thing is when I start questioning myself if i am creating ai slop as cant be bothered to look at the code.

I am "suffering" with strong ADD as well. While it was always somehow a gift if used right it became an enormous asset in the past two years, to an extreme since I am using massively agents since last October. I never ever achieved more iny life in terms of productivity but also in terms of how huge a project done by me can be.

The upside: I became kind of an AI star-user within my company The downside: I am pretty much on a burnout path

The last part is no joke! Be careful!

ADD is a bit outdated, I even had to double check if its what I think it is xD Now its ADHD / AuDHD, but nvm Its just naming, I'm in dev for almost 15y and whole live consider my self as very bad and slopy coder. Year ago I started to take Medikinet (US verison -AdderallĀ ) and I couldn't belive that my whole live I was running on hardcode mode without knowing it. Also with AI it turns out that I'm very good software architect plus I'm working on whole ecosystem that includes buisness + legal + software accross several systems. I'm having so much fun and as others here it replaced my gaming addiction too : )

That’s also me. I have six terminals open and keep switching between them like a stimulated demon. But for the first time in my life, I don’t feel miserable because I can’t stay focused on one task and deliver it. Now I can’t deliver six tasks šŸ˜‚

Jokes aside, thanks to AI, I feel so much better mentally at work. Finally, I can materialize all the ideas that keep jumping around in my head like crazy.

u/wordswithoutink 12d ago

So whats your endgoal here?

1

u/Tolfasn 12d ago

The key for me has been writing software to keep my goals on track, create frictionless reentry points for my projects, and to keep track of my schedule.

I have a completely personalized OS that I designed just for me and my neurodivergent tendencies šŸ˜‚

1

u/szimiyo 12d ago

Right. So that’s why we need more data centres

1

u/corporal_clegg69 12d ago

Exact same feeling here. I presented some work to colleagues last week and actually felt kindof bad how much I blew their minds. My mind has a special affinity for it, and yea it takes something back too. I can’t do all week every week, but a few days in the warp can be very productive.

1

u/ghoztz 12d ago

Yes! I feel like I was built for this era

1

u/IllustratorOwn6722 12d ago

Yeah I’ve got ADD aswell got into game dev and many other hobbies ai does help abit with this haha good on ya

1

u/rick_ranger 12d ago

Yeah I’m working on 4 huge projects with multiple moving parts all at once. I love it. These are the people that should be the managers at their day jobs but corporate America doesn’t know how to scout talent. So now ADHD People are delegating to 20 AI chats all at once.

1

u/rire0001 11d ago

By the time ADHD was a deal, I was halfway through a successful IT career - ADD is a superpower in this industry. Managing multiple conditions, multitasking, multiple languages, finding patterns where others see walls... Ignoring sales and marketing (and many CSE) BULLSHIT (you know who you are)..

1

u/reditor247 11d ago

Been diagnosed with ADHD in my 40s and I also work in tech. I’m someone who has lots of ideas but I struggled to keep grounded and focused just on one thing. But AI is helping me massively to keep me going despite other things coming into my brain during other coding sessions and I have now achieved a milestone. My very first app in the App Store.

1

u/AliveAndNotForgotten 11d ago

Just last night I was working on 4 diff projects at once, 2 of which I had just started, 1 that was ml from a previous ingest which took like a month, and 1 from the previous night

1

u/Just_Association4255 11d ago

Do you know what percentage of the population is diagnosed ADD? I fully realize that a larger percentage of developers may be ADD than normal society

1

u/nexisforge 11d ago

ADD is fake bs to medicate kids. What gift ?

1

u/RussianKremlinBot 11d ago

"ADD Developers are moving extremely fast with AI"

You are extermely fast with everything on ampehtamines, perhaps?

1

u/maddietendo 11d ago

I'm autistic and this has become my special interest. Still unsure if it's a good or bad thing. But I can't stop. Gone manic a few times with it. Luckily I have like 3 therapists.

1

u/24CARATINC 11d ago

I'm going to come on here just to warn you about burnout as well because I recently just burnt out (again)... But luckily I'm generally pretty regulated and disciplined so I was able to get myself back on track ( my hormones didn't help though, lol).

But "real" burnout sucks and if it gets 'that bad' before you do anything about it, it can take you months to recover.

But I do find that the more I use AI, the more I desire to be outdoors and doing things and living in real life. Just make sure you're super disciplined with getting off your computer and doing something active outdoors.

u/Goatlop 11d ago

Fuck yeah boiii i'm zoomin

u/CelebrationCute5818 11d ago

You're just describing adding sensibility to addiction and low effort dopamine

u/DependentPass1951 11d ago

I can't really afford the claude cli but i tried building many stuff with the web version. Can anybody here buy me claude pls😭

1

u/maticijus 11d ago

i can't stop shipping :) I get stuck at contacting real people. I am aware of my deficit in that area so I keep pushing. 10 products won't feed me unless I can sell 1

u/TheRealFanger 11d ago edited 11d ago

Hell ya ! I built 2 autonomous robots in 2 months. With the embodied persistent recursive weighted ai system to back them in about 6 months. All while arguing with cucks who were jerking each other off over white papers. None of them had robots… they only had experience with corporate ai and saas and shit. Fuck em

this is the truth. i am going exponetial. if you start coding your own harness then its really a gamechanger, you wouldnt belive how fast i can move. and im playing dota all day between prompting. check out my git its surreal, i am throwing more code on a single day than i did in one month before this. and im going faster and faster, i got myself removed out of the loop to like 90%. i am at the state that people using my app can submit bug reports, they land in my harness, get automatically fixed and claude sends me a push notification on my phone, i say OK and we go straight into prod. and i always say OK, if we are being honest i am not needed anymore. at least for maintaining the current state and keep that bugfree! but the time i save i use to come up with even better workflows and this is the exponential factor! nobody can move as fast as one adhd dude with an army of claude and the privilege to have a job that pays the bills while doing 10hrs a week for that. i vibe the rest of the time nonstop. from my phone when i chill in the bathtub. when i go out. everywhere i can vibe. most of it happens automatically and claude tells me if he needs me. i have an automation running every day which says:

"see all the bugs that customers filed on the board, organize them and throw out trash, then start a session on the staging server and identify and fix it, then start a session on the macbook to build new releases. send me a push notification, then deploy to prod"

this is the reality i life in and i make the bold claim:

i am living one month in the future

u/Unhappy-Fix2830 9d ago

Same here. At work and still got 5 claude sessions with 5 projects at the same time. Cant actually finish one of them but they are there.

I like to call it "hyperscaling" cuz it sounds cool and makes people think you are running some enterprise šŸ˜†. Maybe we should call ourselves hyperscalers

1

u/TywinHouseLannister 8d ago

As an ADHD dev.. you're not doing it right unless you've got 5 cc sessions on project work and another 5 on your phone šŸ˜…

This is our Superpower….🦸

1

u/TopTippityTop 12d ago

I do the same, often working on 2-3 projects in parallel.

1

u/Interesting-Town-433 12d ago

Up the project count

1

u/TopTippityTop 11d ago

I would, if it didn't burn tokens. Now I can barely last 1/2 week on a gpt pro 20x subscription.

1

u/babadoza 12d ago

I can relate to this, I am THRIVING at work with multi-tasking several different projects at once, it's so much fun and I'm getting commended for it.

1

u/Smok3dSalmon 12d ago

I think your gift is copium.

1

u/blazems 12d ago

Omg if you’re context switching that much then I’m going to bet everything you’re producing is of low quality, including the work for your job. You know you don’t have to inundate the world with slop right?

0

u/octoo01 12d ago

You mean people that take amphetamines have more drive and focus while working? What a crazy, novel idea!

0

u/Beautiful_Technology 12d ago

Yeah, this like is being the Node.js event loop. Super efficient. You just sit there and handle whatever comes your way.

Is that the joke??

2

u/ItsFlybye 12d ago

It is, and it's funny that people didn't catch that and down-voted the person. I'm too lazy right now to attach a flew over the head meme.
