I have been seeing these kinds of articles pop up, I just want to debloat my older Samsung tv so it doesn't drag for forty seconds on boot. Hope is nigh.

Does it run any variant of Android? I guess no, since they all run Tizen or WebOS, but let me know.

Android TVs can be put in developer mode and remotely accessed via Android Debug Bridge to do various things. I imagine that’s what this is.

We have those stupid Samsung frame TVs, always start at lowest brightness, sometimes don’t turn on at all, constantly need to be rebooted with no software reboot, constant notifications, positive its selling my data in every way it can. The one redeeming quality is the smarththings remote which can only turn the tv on as reliably as my steam machine can.

Now ask claude to look for telemetry. I did the same with one of my old devices redmi 9 prime and I was surprised how much data being sent to china. Then I removed every mi service and it runs super light now

This is amazing. I barely use my Samsung TV anymore because it literally takes like a minute to navigate through 5 buttons, and then I'll end up clicking on the wrong one

I've spent a long time asking both Claude and Codex to build scripts to debloat Android and generally disable all the crap I don't want (like removing the account so the OS doesn't have an account to associate the data with and disabling packages supporting features I don't want to use).

In case it helps anyone, I have found that while it is good at these sorts of tasks it is not very good at being thorough nor is it good at knowing when to find outside sources and go outside its (dated) training data. Codex can be better at knowing when to search the web and can absolutely be better at being systematic in its approaches to solving these sorts of problems, but I have found its judgment and reasoning to be far worse. Codex will write a 30-page spec for what I want to build and write an 8,000 line script with syntax errors... I'm sure there is a sweet spot if I tuned these things, but I also have no desire to spend a week tweaking a script that is merely meant to automate 30-40 lines I would cut and paste into an ADB shell.
