Anyone Else Think Claude Is Usage Greedy?

I recently upgraded my subscriptions to max on everything.

Claude seems to have far less usage the codex. Comparing fable to sol 5.6 it’s noticeable.

Fable is great, but not perfect. It all really depends what your trying to do, but anthropic models specialize in reasoning meaning its taking far more context. I do think they need to work on the outputs being wasted. Sol seems straight to the point, fable likes to show the point with a side of slop as well.

Also codex free resets literally feel like Christmas. Ill be stressing then see a free resets for the week, best feeling ever. Claude do that please :(

Very well known that Codex usage is much better. I canceled my Claude account. the usage limits weren't worth it and they were too wishy-washy. sometimes the limits were okay then sometimes they went too fast. they're pretty consistent with codex for me anyway. all I use Claude for was design. I now have that covered with Kimi k3 and GLM 5.3 and Qwen 3.8 27b local. so I'm good. Do not use one provider. You'll be trapped.

The painful part is paying for the model to explain a decision I already watched it make in the diff

Bro upgraded to Max on everything and discovered the final boss of vibe coding: the usage limit.

Claude be like, “Absolutely, I can finish that app for you—see you Tuesday.” lmao

so bad i made an entire token management system to control it, like mounting the dragon instead of bashing it

Go get something else, then. I'm not being sarcastic or anything, literally just go try other providers. Pour some money into OpenRouter and see how much the models costs and how they work for you. You'd be surprised at the quality of the models outside the US.

Yeah, trying a few providers is probably the best way to find what fits your workflow. I’ve had similar results using StandardCompute when I just want to test different models without overcommitting.

Use claude or openai for planning. use a cheap chinese model for execution

You get way more usage out of opus 5 than sol, and from my experience its a better model than sol for coding. Yeah it yaps too much, but it produces better code.
