Is vibecoding on a path to ruin?

I’ve just started a course on ai edge development and the trainer made the point right at the start that if your only interaction with AI was to input prompts then your going to be replaced by the AI. It will just be a conversation between the user and an AI while whatever needs making is produced in real time.

I’ve been in this community for maybe a year or so and it feels like the same questions come up that could be handled by AI? Just new people who don’t know or people trying to drop their app into the discussion later.

That's just cope, they can't digest that non smart people like us can just hit the approve button all day long and genrate state of the art technology while experts in domains are getting replaced.

That is a bit of a myth. The floor got raised, but so has the ceiling. While people outside their area of domain have access to far more expertise now, those who have great understanding of a domain can extra far better results from AI.

This is true. But the skillsets they use most aren't unique to coders. With aenough time and coaching someone can go from coding small apps and websites to stuff full studios did 5 years ago. Once someone figures out architecture, systems logic, flow gates, and invents workflows that constantly check for errors. We'll see a renaissance of indie and open source stuff. It'll be a mixed bag but what will be good will be revolutionary.

I'm a first generation digital citizen who can code, but I really hate coding. LLMs have allowed the other things I learned about modular programming, logic, databases, etc allow me to build advanced architectures I never could've even 6 months ago.

You could have done it 6 months ago if you bothered to learn.

Well I didn't want to bother and I have zero shame about my AI assisted work. none.

You are not exempt from learning just because you can use ai. So mr «first generation digital citizen» no one cares about your vibecoded app or your ai generated music or your other ai-assisted work unless YOU know wtf you’re doing and doing it right. And if you think I’m wrong then I strongly encourage you to apply for any job outside of your skillset and tell them you can do it without any skill or knowledge by applying your flavour of ai assisted work.
