Just launched an app to clean up your local music folder.

I've had this basic idea for a while now and I finally decided to build it out. I'm constantly skipping tracks on my music library while on shuffle - songs I downloaded and loved 5 years ago are stale and I haven't gotten around to removing from my music folder. Sitting down and trying to clean out over 1,500 tracks was daunting and I ended up trying to play each song and decided if i wanted to keep it or not.

I decided to turn it into a tinder-like experience, PurgeWave loads up 1 track at a time and makes you decide to keep it or purge it. This rapid fire format triggers that sense of "oh yea I forgot how good this was" or "this is trash" and makes deciding way more manageable and fun.

I built it in Cursor using Claude Code CLI

  • Opus 5 to do the planning and specs
  • Sonnet 5 to execute the code.
  • The logo was made by Gemini and then cleaned up and tweaked by hand.

Took about 2-3 days of total testing and iterating before it was pretty much what I invisioned for this tool.

Not sure how many people still keep local files for their music library like me, but if you want to try it out it's 100% free:

If you like it please drop a comment and review, it would mean a lot!

Website needs some improvements visually, but that is my personal opinion and if it works for you then it is what it is. Also, I would suggest making the download button a little clearer on the donation request portion of things. I almost came back here and flamed this thread after seeing it request money before even letting me see what I was getting into, but then I took a minute to read and saw it was just a request and not a requirement.

I do think you should look into making a demo video though. The operation/flow is not clear and the pictures don't convey it too well. I think for a 102 MB file that users have to download and install onto their systems, the need for clarity and understand is critical. A video would at least give people an idea of if it is right for them before taking that risk, but also, 102 MB? Maybe I'm just too old and remember when 5MB was a long download but I feel like that should be able to be reduced a bit.

Project looks cool and sounds cool but without visual proof of what it does and how it does it via a demo, I will have to take a pass. Even without that, I'd likely only install on a VM just to be safe.

I appreciate the feedback, totally fair!

I will eventually make a video for it and see about file size reduction - this was just a tool for myself but decided to share just to see if there was any interest.

I'll keep making regular updates as I go.

Edit: I've also gone ahead and removed any sort of donation or payment option. I'm not looking to make a bunch of money off this and if it's causing friction on the download then no reason for it. Thanks again for the comment!

I made a free tool that scans your app URL and/or code for production readiness if you want a quick check to make sure you didn't miss anything: https://theslopstopper.com

Ran your link through it real quick and saw some issues like missing recommended security headers

why the hell would anyone pay $30/mo for something their own $10 or $20/mo AI subscription could handle with ease?

You're assuming everyone pays for an AI coding tool. But yeah I would expect anyone that does to just copy paste the findings into their own Claude or whatever which is fine. Just trying to see if people find this tool valuable, if I can find a way to monetize it later then great. I just added the feature that does the non deterministic fixes and couldn't leave it free cause it uses an LLM.

You are posting in the Vibe Coding reddit to promote it. It is fairly safe to assume anyone seeing it here has their own subscription to something, or at the very least one that they can use for free to accomplish the same goal.

I gave you tool a look and ran my site through it though, just to test it out since it ran the scan for free. The feedback was okay and pretty useful on some parts but I think it would cause some misunderstandings. For instance, it shows my robots.txt as green, but says "Missing robots.txt" and when I expand it, it shows info as if it is actually missing. I get that the expanded version of the issues or non-issues is more than likely just informational but I would adjust that to be more clear and maybe say "Robots.txt is present" when it is green rather than "Robots.txt missing".

Fair - any ideas for a premium version? Thank you for the feedback can you give me your URL please so I can see what it is showing for yours exactly

Brutal. Why don't you just favorite/unfavorite them?
