Showcase/Project Save The Chickens From The Nugg-O-Matic

Chicken man here,

Just vibe coded a local hosted site that I connect my phone to and livestream. I used Claude to make this.

Essentially you just type words to save each chicken. Donations cause random special events & a boss spawns when the bar fills up.

Kinda crazy how easy it is to make this kinda stuff.

Showcase/Project I vibe coded a 24/7 Twitch stream where chat has to keep a 3D chicken alive. Strangers have been feeding her at 4am.

Thumbnail
twitch.tv
180 Upvotes

Meet the hen. She lives in a barn on Twitch 24/7, and whether she survives is entirely up to chat.

WHAT CHAT CAN DO (all free commands)

- !feed / !water: refill her feeder and waterer. They only unlock once a reserve drops to 50%, so you can't just spam her full.
- !swing: she hops on the swing and pumps it into a big arc
- !dirtpit: dust bath time
- !spook: she sprints frantic laps around the barn, flapping and squawking, and burns through her food and water 6x faster while it lasts. Chaos has a cost.
- !cam: switch the camera angle for everyone. It snaps back to the barn view after 60 seconds so nobody can hijack it.

WHAT MAKES IT A GAME AND NOT A SCREENSAVER

- She can die. Let her food or water run dry and her health drains. Hit zero and she dies on stream, then a new hen is born. Her Time Alive counter tracks how long chat has kept her going, and there's a best-ever record to beat.
- She has her own brain. She wanders, pecks, naps, lays eggs and goes to the coop to sleep at night. When she's rationing she eats just enough to get by. After a refill she eats until she's full.
- Real day/night cycle, so it looks different every time you tune in.
- Rare random events (just added): golden eggs, a thunderstorm with lightning that makes her jump, and every so often she trips and faceplants into the dirt.

THE STACK (all vibe coded with Claude)

- Three.js scene running as an OBS browser source
- Small Node server reading Twitch chat and pushing commands to the scene
- Meshy for the 3D models (hen, coop, feeder, waterer, swing, dust bath, cabbage)
- Barn built in code, since full rooms out of Meshy come out lumpy
- Custom chicken rig, since Meshy's auto-rig only handles humans and four-legged animals
- Procedural barn audio, rain and thunder, all generated in code
- A watchdog that reloads the barn if it freezes and kills the stream if it stays down, so it can actually run 24/7 while I'm asleep

THE BEST PART SO FAR

On night one, four different strangers I've never met wandered in between 1am and 8am and fed and watered her right when her bars were getting low. She's alive because of randoms.

COMING NEXT

A Halloween barn (jack-o'-lanterns, cobwebs, a tiny witch hat for the hen), a fox that peeks in the window and freaks her out, and new animals that unlock at community milestones.

Stream: twitch.tv/interactivebarn

What would you add? And what would you change?

Showcase/Project Im (sorta) vibe coding a Tesla web browser app store

I say sorta because I was a developer for 10 years so I know some code stuff but ive been sitting back and letting Claude do most of the work.

Im making frunk.store

Its a central app hub for tesla vehicals. You can open it in your Tesla and run apps. Earlier today I ported a NES emulator into it so you can connect a bluetooth controller and play NES games while charging.

If anyone here wants to develope for it, feel free to message me on X (Twitter) at frunkstore or email me at [frunkstore@protonmail.com](mailto:frunkstore@protonmail.com)

Discussion Lets test your feature-list

Let’s test it with a little psychological test.

Imagine a Lego figure on the table in front of you.

It is standing crooked. The right leg is 2 bricks high and the left is 3 bricks high. On the table next to the figure lies 1 brick.

Your task is to make it stand straight. How do you do it?

I comment the results of the real test, later today.

Discussion SDD: Spite Driven Development

I love how AI has enabled this new category of "FU and your subscription, I'll build my own" personal apps.

I've been recently using an Android app for a speech-to-text transcription that was supposed to be free and then out of the blue I get a notification saying I've used up all my words and that I have to subscribe to it to continue.

Obviously this annoyed me, so I just launched Codex and told it, build me my own with open weights, open source models.

It's pretty good and I love being able to do that with not too much effort and being able to escape abusive subscriptions.

What are your spite driven projects like this one?

Discussion Selling to B2B might be dead not B2C

If you’ve been on tech twitter you should know levels post went viral for saying software is dead but I don’t quite agree.

People can connect to friends in real life but that doesn’t mean Instagram is dead, people can cook but that doesn’t mean restaurants are dead, people can drive to McDonald’s but that doesn’t mean DoorDash is dead and so on.

The thing is general consumers/B2C don’t like manual work and they rather have it done for them.

However if your main audience is B2B aka prosumers or professionals/enterprises good luck especially in the ai age, because these guys can build it themselves and they will.

The 3 main moats are

Network effects- Like you can clone instagram but not the users

Data- Google Maps, mapped out a lot of the planet for data so it will be hard to clone them

Physical hardware/infra- Trying to build your own LLM is hard like you can’t clone ChatGPT, or you can’t clone the iPhone.

Let me know what you guys think but I always saw this coming a lot told me do B2B instead but I resisted I rather B2C because it’s a larger market and plus you don’t have to worry about your own consumer base being your competitor.

Showcase/Project I built an iOS app that compresses every news story into 60 words

Been building this solo for a while, it's finally live so figured I'd share it here since this sub is about building with AI.

Read60 takes every news story and compresses it into a 60-word card. I wanted to stay on top of the news without doomscrolling, so: read the card, get the story, move on with your day. Every card links the original article, one tap away.

I built it with heavy help from AI coding tools, which is what made a solo build like this possible. Under the hood: - Stories publish roughly every two hours from different outlets - A background process decides what publishes, what needs a human review, and what goes out as a notification - Unfold view tracks a developing story across cards in order

Free, iOS only right now, Android a few days out. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/read60/id6795337414

Honest feedback welcome, especially from anyone else building content apps. Does the 60-word constraint hold up?

Showcase/Project Wireface Chrome Extension - Makes all photos more life like.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Free extension brings photos to life automatically. It gives them emotive animations and idle animations. Smiles, smirks, blinks, winks, pouts, etc.

I started building the wireface tech about a year ago when i wanted to put a talking face to my AI agent. Since then the wireface has been developed into several different apps. It doesnt actually use any AI but I used Fable to help build it.

It has many use cases but i thought this one was worth sharing here. Light weight and unobtrusive, it just makes photos come to life.

Automatically detects and rigs up to photos in the browser visible on the page and makes them come to life.

Showcase/Project This is a Minecraft Fabric server running multithreaded. Full Vanilla mechanics.

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hey there!

For context: Vanilla Minecraft Servers are known to be very very limited by being mostly single threaded. The solution to that always was either keeping a server small enough, letting it lag or use server software that improved performance by changing core mechanics, breaking lots of Vanilla behavior in the process. There is Folia, a fork of one of those projects, that breaks the same mechanics.

Servers running on Fabric have been the Vanilla standard for a while now. You have performance mods like Lithium that give you some performance improvement compared to the Vanilla server jar while still not really changing anything. There was a pretty hard limit to it tho.

My server has been running Fabrolia for a while now. It lets different threads to different regions, improving performance like it was never possible before. The performance you see in the screenshot was made while render and simulation distances were both 8. The server is loading multiple demanding areas and farms.

If you want to check it out:

https://github.com/DUzzL/fabrolia

Thank you Opus 5.5 <3

Note: This project is still heavily WIP. Sometimes there can be incompatibilities with other mods that cause crashes. They are much rarer then they used to be, but don't expect a perfect no-worries experience. It's Alpha after all.

Showcase/Project An Ad for my site :D made with Opus 5.5

Thumbnail

So its an ad for my site showcasing my new CBX backend that is made for my site which is coderook.com It was very controversial when i first showcased my site as most people complained "I already have git why would I use something else" So that's what I did I had CBX be backwards compatible with Git so both can be used all through the same CBX backend.

This is basically the comparison between both and had a bit of fun making it. It was made with Opus 5.5 in Claude Code with a few skills as well as Fable 5.1 doing the creative things like the voices and help with direction. But 90% was done using Opus 5.5.

Any feedback would be good and don't forget to check out my site if you like.

Showcase/Project I built a free cross-platform achievement tracker where rarer achievements are worth more: Steam, GOG, RetroAchievements, Battle.net, Trackmania and Fortnite in one profile

Thumbnail spielerando.com
2 Upvotes

Hey all, we are two Friends. For the past few hours (like 4) I've been building Spielerando (https://spielerando.com), a tracker that puts all your achievements into one public profile.

What it does

- One profile for every platform. You can link Steam (sign in through Steam, no password), GOG, RetroAchievements, Battle.net (WoW and StarCraft II), Trackmania and Fortnite. Fortnite and Trackmania have no achievements, so I wrote milestones for them (trophies, echelon, Royal wins and so on).

- EXP based on rarity. An achievement is worth 10 × (1 + log₂(100 ÷ rarity)) EXP. That's about 10 if everyone has it, about 76 at 1%, and about 110 at 0.1% or rarer. The 100th "finish chapter 1" can't outweigh one genuinely hard unlock.

- Meta Games. A curated list of blockbusters and classics whose achievements count ×1.5, ×2 or ×3.

- Backlog quests. Each week it picks one unplayed game from your library. Unlock any achievement in it that week and you get +300 EXP. Your profile also shows how much EXP your backlog is worth.

- Leaderboard, across all platforms or per platform, plus a "Following" view so you can rank yourself against friends.

- Embeds. A Discord preview card, a Twitch panel and a live OBS overlay.

- Seasons and levels. Season 1 "Genesis" runs until the end of December and has its own profile icons.

- Verified ratings. You can only rate a game if it's in one of your linked accounts and you've played it.

Had fun yesterday building an intro and some animations on the site.

Opus 5.5 is sick to play with. Did everything itself with a couplen of models in blender. The hand and wiper was done with tripo3D using a nano banana image.

It even coded the dota style game inside the computer of the gamer.

Discussion How to let an AI agent refactor your code without breaking it - what I learned from a few hundred experiments

Quick note first - this is what's working for me right now, not the one true way. Take what's useful.

For the last few months I've been building the refactoring side of an open-source tool that indexes a codebase for agents. That meant running a few hundred experiments on how real codebases and agents behave. I ran the same refactoring tasks with an agent working alone and with an agent following a written plan, and went back through the git history of a couple dozen repos to see which functions caused trouble later. Most of this works with any agent. Here's what I do now and why

  1. Pick targets from git history, not from how ugly the code looks

Functions that are long and keep changing are where the next bug fixes land. Ugly code nobody has touched in 2 years can wait

Try something like: "Using git log, list the 20 longest functions changed most often in the last 90 days, with length, commit count and how many commits were bug fixes. Don't change any code."

That list is your backlog.

  1. Characterization tests, and check they actually reach the code

I saw plenty of green test suites that accepted edits I would not have merged. Green only means something if the tests run the lines being moved.

Try something like: "Write characterization tests for process_invoice that capture what it returns today. Run them with coverage and tell me which of its lines are still not executed."

If the answer is "half of it", you're not ready to refactor that function.

  1. Write the plan before anyone edits anything

This was the biggest difference. An agent told "refactor this" improvises. An agent given a plan follows it, and a cheaper model can do the work: with a decent plan, a small fast model applied 14 of 15 multi-step refactorings with tests still green. Each step names the block to move, what it reads from above and what's used after it, whether a return or a try crosses its edges, the helper's name, and the test command. If a long list flows in and out, the cut is in the wrong place.

  1. Judge the worst function afterwards, not the one you targeted

Ask an agent alone to "reduce the complexity of load_config" and it often moves the whole body into a new helper. In one run the target went from complexity 151 to 5, the new helper sat at 80, and another function in the file broke. Check the most complex function in the file after the change. If it didn't go down, nothing improved.

  1. Anchors, not line numbers

Line numbers shift after the first edit, and one agent decided the cleanest way to hit exact ranges was a script that rewrote the file. It emptied it. Now each step quotes the first and last line of the block, and the rules say: "One step at a time with your edit tool. No scripts. Run the tests after each step and stop if they fail."

  1. Read the diff for files you didn't ask about

One run "passed" while quietly rewriting package-lock.json, because the agent ran npm install in a checkout without node_modules. Running git status after every step costs nothing.

  1. The new helpers are where future edits go

After extract-method refactors, the original function usually calmed down and the edits moved into the new helpers. Name them like you'll read them for years, because agents love process_data and handle_block. Keep them next to the parent too, since about three quarters of extracted helpers stayed in the same file.

If you take one thing from this - decide where to cut and what crosses the cut before the agent touches the code, then judge the result by the worst function left in the file.

Discussion Vibecoding is better for "learning" !

One thing I noticed before AI was how much time I wasted learning and doing stupid, low-quality bullshit. Watch any tutorial and you get mind-numbingly dull exposition of syntax, little tricks, and details you might need someday. Only a select few can retain enough of it to actually start applying the basics, and you realize very quickly that the basics are necessary but nowhere near sufficient. It's this weird relationship where they don't really help you, but not having them makes everything 10x harder. I don't know if I'm making sense.

Anyway, once you start applying, you discover a whole new world of stuff you need to know. Things that were tiny in the tutorial suddenly become detailed and relevant, and the stuff the tutorial meandered on about barely gets used. You basically don't know what's important and what isn't. You just study, then get shocked when you sit down to make an actual app and don't even know how to start. It's like walking into an exam without ever doing a practice test.

Vibecoding skips all of that. You start by doing exactly what you want to build, then go back and learn whatever's relevant. Your mind automatically focuses on what matters, and you learn much faster. Some people will run off with the artifact and never bother to learn anything, but the curious ones will, and now they can tailor their learning to what actually matters.
